Unsupervised Method for Disease Named Entity Recognition

Almutairi, Abeer N. 06 November 2019 (has links)
Diseases take a central role in biomedical research; many studies aim to enable access to disease information, by designing named entity recognition models to make use of the available information. Disease recognition is a problem that has been tackled by various approaches of which the most famous are the lexical and supervised approaches. However, the aforementioned approaches have many drawbacks as their performance is affected by the amount of human-annotated data set available. Moreover, lexicalapproachescannotdistinguishbetweenrealmentionsofdiseasesand mentionsofotherentitiesthatsharethesamenameoracronym. Thechallengeofthis project is to find a model that can combine the strengths of the lexical approaches and supervised approaches, to design a named entity recognizer. We demonstrate that our model can accurately identify disease name mentions in text, by using word embedding to capture context information of each mention, which enables the model todistinguishifitisarealdiseasementionornot. Weevaluateourmodelusingagold standard data set which showed high precision of 84% and accuracy of 96%. Finally, we compare the performance of our model to different statistical name entity recognition models, and the results show that our model outperforms the unsupervised lexical approaches.

Komparace právní úpravy trestní odpovědnosti právnických osob v ČR a SR / Comparison of legislation concerning criminal liability of legal entities in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic

Kubala, Tomáš January 2021 (has links)
Comparison of legislation concerning criminal liability of legal entities in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic Abstract This master thesis deals with a very recent phenomenon of criminal liability of legal entities. Its recent implementation into national legislation of the Czech and the Slovak Republic provides evidence of its current relevance, which is followed by relentless criticism, lack of clarity and application difficulties confirms its currency. Nevertheless, discourse about its implementation by legislations of various countries around the globe can be seen in ancient history. Therefore, the first part of this thesis deals with the introduction of historical background and analyses in detail the development of this doctrine. Furthermore, it also examines the development of international discussion and lays down several international legal documents which serve either as recommendations or impose obligation onto the parties to introduce proper liability of legal entities. The most relevant part of this thesis consists of the comparison of current national legislation of the criminal liability of legal entities in the Czech and the Slovak Republic. But it also doesn't avoid the necessary line of reasoning of social essentiality of this doctrine including the disproval of reasoning which...

Implementación de un modelo de gamificación para mejorar la capacitación comercial de ejecutivos de una entidad financiera peruana

Robles Rojas, Eduardo 30 June 2020 (has links)
This research work addresses the main strategies to implement a gamification model that aims to train the sales force in a Peruvian financial entity, on relevant issues that will support their commercial activities. Gamification applies various mechanics and elements contained in games, using them in a business context for specific purposes, which can go from transmitting knowledge to generating changes in people's behavior. In this research, we will review educational experiences to connect students with playful learning processes, as well as business gamification models to relate brands to their customers. We present the implementation process of the Knowledge Contest, which is a gamified commercial training program, which was adopted by a Peruvian bank to train its internal sales force. Important aspects of the implementation are shown starting with the objective of the training program, then identifying the training needs for each participating position, as well as the selection of gamification elements used in the training process, defining the participation rules and systems to keep the audience motivated and committed, finally the evaluation mechanisms, monitoring and the results of the program are presented. We identify that a business training process that uses elements of the gamification, generates a competitive environment among its participants, also facilitates the learning process and achieves a positive effect on the quality of care provided to clients of a bank. / Trabajo de investigación

Non Secretory Multiple Myeloma

Kamireddy, Chandana, Mhadgut, Hemendra, Khan, Mohammad Ali, Krishnan, Koyamangalath, Chakraborty, Kanishka 18 March 2021 (has links)
INTRODUCTION Multiple Myeloma is characterized by the neoplastic proliferation of plasma cells producing a monoclonal immunoglobulin which can be detected by analysis of the protein electrophoresis of serum (SPEP) and/or urine(UPEP) and/or serum free light chain analysis. Here ,we present a rare case of non-secretory multiple myeloma in which no measurable monoclonal heavy or light chains can be identified. CASE 68 year-old female presented to the hospital with symptoms of intractable back pain and rib pain along with 20 lb weight loss over the past 2 months. Labs were significant for mild anemia with a hemoglobin of 11mg/dl, WBC count 5.6 K/ul , platelet 199 K/ul, Chemistry panel showed mild hypernatremia with serum sodium 149, serum K 4.1, BUN 23mg/dl, serum creatinine 1.20 mg/dl, serum calcium levels elevated to 13.7 mg/dl and normal liver function tests. Imaging with Computed Tomography of chest, abdomen, pelvis showed extensive lytic lesions in axial and appendicular skeleton, with pathologic fractures involving T3 and T9 vertebrae. Skeletal bone survey showed innumerable lytic lesions involving the calvarium, C- spine, humerus, scapula, pelvis and bilateral femurs. A core needle biopsy of the right sacral iliac crest bone lesion was performed with pathology showing evidence of plasma cell neoplasm. SPEP showed hypogammaglobulinemia, normal serum kappa and lambda light chains and normal free light chain ratio. Serum immunofixation, UPEP and urine IFE did not show any evidence of monoclonal protein. Serum beta-2 microglobulin was elevated to 13.8 mg/L. Subsequent bone marrow biopsy revealed hyper cellular marrow with 95% cellularity, with 80% involvement by plasma cells, congo red stain negative, findings consistent with plasma cell myeloma. Cytogenetics were normal with FISH showing duplication of 1q, but negative for 17p deletion, t(4,14) and t(14,16). Hypercalcemia was managed with pamidronate. She was diagnosed with Revised International Staging System(R-ISS) Stage II non secretory multiple myeloma. Patient received palliative radiation therapy for lytic lesions. Treatment was initiated with standard of care regimen Velcade, Revlimid and Dexamethasone along with bisphosphonates. DISCUSSION Non secretory myeloma(NSMM) constitutes about 1-2% of all MM cases. It is classically defined as clonal bone marrow plasma cells ≥10% or biopsy proven plasmacytoma, evidence of end-organ damage with anemia, renal insufficiency likely secondary to hypercalcemia, bone lesions and lack of serum and urinary monoclonal protein on electrophoresis and immunofixation. Majority of these patients have M protein detectable in the cytoplasm of plasma cells by Immunohistochemistry, but have impaired secretion of the protein, or they can be non-producer MM. The overall survival (OS) and progression free survival( PFS) of NSMM is similar or superior to patients with secretory myeloma phenotype. Monitoring of the these patients for treatment response is challenging and is mainly on the basis of imaging studies like PET-CT or MRI and bone marrow evaluation.

Using Freebase, An Automatically Generated Dictionary, And A Classifier To Identify A Person's Profession In Tweets

Hall, Abraham 01 January 2013 (has links)
Algorithms for classifying pre-tagged person entities in tweets into one of eight profession categories are presented. A classifier using a semi-supervised learning algorithm that takes into consideration the local context surrounding the entity in the tweet, hash tag information, and topic signature scores is described. In addition to the classifier, this research investigates two dictionaries containing the professions of persons. These two dictionaries are used in their own classification algorithms which are independent of the classifier. The method for creating the first dictionary dynamically from the web and the algorithm that accesses this dictionary to classify a person into one of the eight profession categories are explained next. The second dictionary is freebase, an openly available online database that is maintained by its online community. The algorithm that uses freebase for classifying a person into one of the eight professions is described. The results also show that classifications made using the automated constructed dictionary, freebase, or the classifier are all moderately successful. The results also show that classifications made with the automated constructed person dictionary are slightly more accurate than classifications made using freebase. Various hybrid methods, combining the classifier and the two dictionaries are also explained. The results of those hybrid methods show significant improvement over any of the individual methods.
