Estetika jako životní norma. / Aesthetics as a norm of life

Jarošová, Helena January 2016 (has links)
Title: Aesthetics as a norm of life Author: PhDr. Helena Jarošová Department of Aesthetics Supervisor: Prof. PhDr. Vlastimil Zuska, CSc. The thesis focuses on body (corporeality), things and private (home) interior as the exemplary areas of a contemporary aesthetics of life. In the thesis, I do consider this relatively autonomous domain of general aesthetics (a field of aesthetic function outside art, according to Mukařovský), or more precisely a sphere of growing influence of all-embracing aestheticization of the world (G. Lipovetsky) not only as a phenomenon, with which we have to deal today, but as a much older process, the roots of which can be traced back at least two centuries to the past. In this subject matter I especially emphasize primary and derived relations of this kind of aestheticization to a public space, i.e. an aesthetic function that originally only supports the main function of a given thing or event can eventually become dominant and independent and finally influence the very domain from which it originated (e.g. female decorative make-up used to be, historically, an accompanying effect of male dominance in the society, later it became a mean of female emancipation or of an individually designed style of life). I also pay attention to a phenomenology of an aesthetic experience;...

Glitch v novomediálním umění: Technologická chyba jako objekt estetického zájmu / Glitch in new media art: Technological error as a subject of aesthetic interest

Šašek, Filip January 2012 (has links)
This thesis introduces the use of technological failure in visual arts, described as glitch art in the Anglo-American literature, and reveals its specific qualities. The author examines creative exploration of glitch both in image compression formats, and in the user interface of web sites, computer games or operating systems. In addition, the research presents arguments that advocate glitch art in a broader artistic discourse. It does so firstly by analogy, when it compares glitch art manifestations to conceptual and visual qualities of the paradigmatic works of art and artistic movements, and secondly by Dickie's institutional classification, when it analyzes glitch art communities and appreciation by the curatorial, critical and academic public. The central argument of this thesis is that glitch art next to a purely aesthetic experience provides an insight into the heart of technology, which exposes its functionality. Thus it contributes to a deeper understanding of its physical, structural and ideological fundamentals, that have become in everyday life almost invisible due to the logic of immediacy. Given the highly relative nature of the term glitch the thesis does not seek a hard definition of its specifics, but rather asks the cause of this naming (designation) that is why we perceive a...

Viešųjų erdvių estetika didžiuosiuose prekybos centruose / Aesthetics of Public Spaces in Shopping Malls

Nefaitė, Karilė 17 June 2011 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The object of master thesis’ research is the aesthetics of public space in shopping malls in Lithuanian cities. The thesis of the paper analyses seven major shopping malls in Lithuania, rendering the most common aesthetic patterns and inherent aesthetic qualities, that are peculiar in Lithuanian largest shopping centres. The method of research is based on three key elements of visual space: meaning, structure and identity. The context of meaning is presented in the first chapter, overviewing historical development of the concept of public space. Its conclusion is that a shopping mall is a field for aesthetic representations of economic power. The second chapter examines the structure of space. It is suggested that shopping malls are simulating urban public spaces for the consumer-oriented reasons. Therefore, the method of comparison between urban and shopping mall spaces is applied. As a result, the most specific elements and their transformations common both to the shopping mall and urban public spaces are distinguished and analysed. The third chapter examines identity. It analyzes themes and motives of interior design, also comparing aesthetics of shopping malls with the global image culture. It is concluded that the shopping mall is an inherent... [to full text]

The Art of Static / UMĚNÍ STATIČNOSTI

Barry, Evan January 2018 (has links)

Environmentální estetika Arnolda Berleanta / The Environmental Aesthetics of Arnold Berleant

Lahovská, Kristýna January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this dissertation is focusing on environmental aesthetics of Arnold Berleant. Firstly we concentrated on his theoretical aesthetics opinions and then we passed to use them on field of environmental aesthetics. To draw a comparison we used writings of another American aesthetician, Allen Carlson. In sphere of Berleant's theoretical aesthetics opinions it is not possible to omit concepts of aesthetical experience, value and social factor. These points are important ideas of aesthetics of engagement, which we would like to present. As useful for environmental aesthetics we also see Berleant evaluation of negative and positive aesthetics values. In case of Allen Carlson we use several models in the field of theoretical aesthetics. The author assessments the functionality of these models for environmental aesthetics. The last point of this dissertation is focusing on a certain type of environment, to architecture and "Disney World", respective. In this field we wanted to demonstrate how the Berleant works with certain type of environment. Allen Carlson chooses as certain type of environment American farms. Éra mačiatok: Estetika roztomilosti v súčasnom umení / The Age of Kittens: Aesthetics of Cuteness in Contemporary Art

Petrlová, Simona January 2018 (has links)
Cuteness as an affect contains a group of visual and behavioral features which are capable of producing physical or emotional reactions in the body of a subject.  Speaking of cuteness as an aesthetic category this kind of response is manipulated for commercial purposes, in the context of artistic creation or as means of self-expression.  In my thesis I will be concetrating on the concept of cuteness and its use in the field of contemporary art. First I will focus on the origin of the notion of cuteness from psychobiological, sociological and culturological point of view. I will describe briefly the origin of the english term ''cute'' and japanese term ''kawaii'' and its evolvement. Than I will concentrate on the aspects of cuteness in today's society, where it has become a tool for advancement of commercial and even political interests, which will be desrcibed on the  specific examples.   Subsequently I will concentrate on the aesthetic aspects of cuteness in the context of contemporary artistic statements including sociological and lorenzian (biological) viewpoints. I will also describe these aesthetics and its usage in the field of hi-tech technologies. Cuteness can be differentiated into many subcategories (e.g. ''creepy-cute'', ''torturer-cute'', ''sexy-cute'', etc.) when speaking of its aesthetics. These will be briefly described and showed in both the theoretical and exemplary sections of the thesis. As a whole the thesis will also lead to the discussion of the artistic positions of particular artists working with cuteness aesthetics in their art production.

Negatyvizmo estetika grupės "Svetimi" kūryboje / The esthetics of the negativism in the creative works of the groups „Outlandish“

Pliskaitienė, Kristina 17 August 2009 (has links)
Tad daugiausia naudojamas analitinis interpretacinis metodas. / The object of the master’s work deals with the texts of five authors Dainiaus Dirgėla, Valdas Gedgaudas, Evaldas Ignatavičius, Alvydas Šlepikas, Donatas Valavčiauskas published in the almanac “Outlanders” as well as the posterior creative works of poet Valdas Gedgaudas where novel topics marking the esthetics of negativism although not fixed in the selection are noticeable. The group declares a novel different existential and valuable position as well as expresses complete dissociation from the earlier Lithuanian creative literature traditions at the same time legalizing a modern conception of the human and the world. Demythologization, destruction along with traditions are characteristic to the texts as well as the topic of death is approached using the elements of the carnival. The tendency of negativism is especially noticeable in the almanac although it is not supposed to be just a motive or feature while the esthetics of negativism tends to dominate transforming into the category of intellection. “Outlanders” signifies the turning point of the process of the Lithuanian poetry as well as its incoming era predicating their creative conception on the specific object of the manifestos of hilarious foreignness as a modern active ambitious different strategy of position. The work methods were selected according to its objectives which include discussing the most dramatic tendencies of negativism reflected by the almanac, revealing conception of... [to full text]
