Still Life Happens

Crabtree, Mary Ann 12 April 2024 (has links) (PDF)
After dedicating over two years to pursuing an MFA degree focused on ceramics and sculpture, I find myself transported back to a familiar setting from my past: a tableau reminiscent of what remained in the dining space after four young children finished a meal and exited the room. Revisiting the scene recalls happy times despite the disorder. What helped maintain my sanity during the relentless repetition of the every-day-long task was the realization that every day, innocents are learning to become aware of the world around them. For my thesis exhibition, I created a tableau as a loud reminder of those messier times in my home. My exhibition features an oversized wooden toddler's chair and table, surrounded by scattered meal-time remnants exaggerated in scale predominantly crafted from ceramic. The food items are strewn about in seemingly random arrangements, creating a chaotic still life. Perhaps the disproportionate size of the furniture and the disorderliness subconsciously acknowledge the monumental challenge of caring for children, a task that once felt never-ending but has since become a distant memory. Viewers may find solace in the mundane subject matter and in the ease of recognizing the familiar elements on display.

Upp och ned, hit och dit : En romananalys av Haruki Murakamis Fågeln som vrider upp världen utifrån Michail Bachtins kronotopteori / Up and down, here and there : An analysis of Haruki Murakami's The Wind up Bird Chronicle based on the Bakhtinian theory of the chronotope

Lindgren, Fanny January 2012 (has links)
In this essay Murakami Haruki’s novel The Wind Up Bird Chronicle was analysed from the perspective of Mikhail Bakhtin’s theory of the chronotope. The aim was to explore the concept of time and space as presented in the novel. In particular, the analysis focused on how Bakhtin’s chronotopes can be applied to The Wind Up Bird Chronicle, how the chronotopes can enhance our understanding of the novel, and finally how the chronotope theory can be applied to the concept of ‘magic realism’ that is often used to describe Murakami’s authorship. Four chronotopes, presented by Bachtin, were selected and applied to the novel: every-day life, the road, crisis and the castle. The concept of the chronotope allows analysis of how time and space work together in literature and how they form patterns of correlation in the sujet. Results showed that the four chronotopes were found in the novel, and that they also interacted with each other. The chronotope of everyday-life was apparent throughout the novel, and the narrator was under its control. The narrator also seemed to create every-day life out of the chronotopes of the road and crisis by re-living the crises in the road. These three chronotopes seemed inseparable in The Wind Up Bird Chronicle. Finally, the fourth chronotope, the castle, illustrated how a concrete room in the novel, a house, became a part of time and space through a character who, by his presence, gave the impression of slowing down time. When this character disappeared, time made its way through space, making the chronotope of the castle visible. The essay concludes that the chronotope theory was a relevant way to analyse The Wind Up Chronicle as it provided a concept of how time and space appeared together in a novel where time and space is always present. The analysis helped creating a way of understanding the patterns in the novel, which were not always clear, thereby also increasing the understanding of The Wind Up Bird Chronicle.

Písňové tabule ve výuce hudební výchovy na 1. stupni ZŠ / Singing board at musical education on the first degree of basic schools

MARTENKOVÁ, Kateřina January 2018 (has links)

Projekty na podporu dětského čtenářství v mateřské škole a možnosti spolupráce jednotlivých subjektů / Projects to support children's reading in kindergarten and the possibilities of cooperation between entities

Ryklová, Simona January 2017 (has links)
The goal of my thesis is to describe which campaigns and projects support reader and which are suitable for work with children in the kindergarten's heterogeneous classes. As part of the thesis, project is created base of the studied literature which should support reading literacy in a kindergarten's heterogeneous class and cooperate on its implementation with other subjects. I define the terms closely related to the given topic in the theoretical part, namely literacy and numeracy, reading literacy (in relation to RVP PV). Focus is on the role of kindergarten and the necessity of developing a child in reading literacy with the emphasis on the heterogeneous classes. I also emphasize the role of the family in reading literacy. Finally, I describe specific campaigns and projects in the Czech Republic that support readership and reading literacy. I devote myself to the implementation of the project itself in the maternal Schools with heterogeneous classes in the practical part. In more detail, I focus on the Celé Česko čte dětem, Noc s Andersenem and Listování. While the Celé Česko čte dětem a whole range of uses, Listování and Noc s Andersenem serves as a mere addition to the development of reading literacy. I value positively the cooperation with the city's library and parents.
