”För att lyckas kan vi inte arbeta i stuprör” : Samverkan för kompetensförsörjning

Edström, Jessica, Olsson, Madeleine January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to describe relevant actors cooperation for competence supply in the county of Västmanland. The qualitative study was based on semistructured interviews with representatives from relevant actors that play an important role for the growth of the county. The theory for this study is the triplehelix-model for cooperation. The result was analyzed through a SWOT-analysis to determine weaknesses and strengths with the cooperation for competence supply within the county of Västmanland and to give suggestions for further development. The study showed that work on the triplehelix-model is not done consciously, in cooperation forums when some players did not know the model, which was a request from the respondents who were working on it today. The question whether there really was a mismatch were discussed in relation to that employers do not see the students' overall competence, but only subject knowledge, thus increasing mismatch. To see the students' possibilities and potential there is an increasing need for cooperation between the borders.

A matter of External or Internal Network Usage? : A study of the network environment of GE Healthcare Life Sciences Uppsala

Thornton, Laura, Sjöö, Rosanna January 2011 (has links)
Current research has pointed out that a subsidiary ́s external network, constituted by its suppliers and customers at the local market, is very important for the corporation as a whole. In this study we seek to explore if this is the case for a certain Multinational corporation through exploring the usage of its networks. More specifically how the knowledge within its networks sharing contribute to the company’s innovation development process. A number of interviews have been conducted with personnel at a Multinational corporation, General Electric Healthcare Life Sciences in Uppsala. The results have been analyzed using a theoretical frame of reference covering network theory and a subsidiary’s part in it. Our findings show that even though the external network may play a necessary part, the internal network of a large Multinational corporation is an important resource and should not be ignored.

Proteins Inside Cells and On the Surface of Membranes: Developing Three Dimensional In-Cell NMR and Structural Characterization of a Trimeric Membrane Proximal External Region Construct from HIV-1 gp41

Reardon, Patrick Neal January 2011 (has links)
<p>Our ability to understand complex biological processes is enhanced by studying the components of those processes at atomic resolution. Major advancements in technology and methodology have been made that continue to improve our ability to determine atomic resolution structures of proteins. These advancements have also enabled new ways to study difficult protein systems. In this dissertation, I will discuss our efforts to apply NMR spectroscopy and other biophysical techniques to better understand two problems. The first problem, and the focus of the first part of this work, is to understand the behavior of proteins in the complex milieu of a living cell. We have developed 3D In-Cell protein NMR and demonstrated its use to assign the backbone resonances of a protein in living E. coli cells. I will also discuss our application of In-Cell NMR to show that the methionine repressor, MetJ, is generally associated non-specifically with DNA inside living cells. In the second part of this dissertation I will discuss our efforts to better understand the biophysical behavior of the membrane proximal external region (MPER) of the HIV-1 envelope protein, gp41. This region is membrane associated and an important target for HIV-1 vaccine development because it contains the epitopes for several of the broadly neutralizing antibodies against HIV-1. In addition to studies of the monomeric peptide, we have developed a new trimeric MPER construct, designated gp41-M-MAT, that associates with detergent micelles and lipid bilayers. This construct is a stable trimer, which binds the broadly neutralizing antibodies 2F5 and 4E10, as shown by equilibrium analytical ultracentrifugation and surface plasmon resonance. Finally, we have solved the structure of this construct bound to detergent micelles using NMR spectroscopy. The structure shows that the MPER adopts an &#945;-helix conformation and suggests that each helix in the symmetric trimer associates directly with the surface of detergents and lipid membranes. This association suggests that the MPER might contribute to the mechanism of viral fusion by inducing strain in the viral membrane.</p> / Dissertation

Microlens array based on silicon molding technology for OLED application

Hu, Wen-Hao 02 July 2010 (has links)
This aim of this dissertation is to fabrication microlens arrays (MLA) by silicon mold using dry etching technique and imprint on the PET substrate by direct imprinting microlens structures on Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates using Si molds. The MLA on PET substrates can be used to increase light emitting efficiency from OLED. The MLA was formed by first etching the silicon wafers using SF6 process gas in an RIE/ECR system using isotropic etching technique. The concave undercuts obtained after the dry etching was removed by wet-etching the wafer in HF and HNO3 solutions. Finally, the fabricated silicon mold was used to imprint the microlens structure on the PET substrates. The microlens array with 10 £gm and 25 £gm radius on PET substrate were successfully fabricated using the technique. The surface coverage of the MLA of beter than 90% was obtained. In addition, the outcoupling efficiency of an OLED can be increased using the MLA.The brightness enhancement factor of 1.67 was achieved using in the MLA comparision to the simulation result of 1.73.

Employer brand, perceived external prestige and word-of-mouth referral: the multilevel analysis

Liu, Wan-yu 28 June 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this study is mainly to discuss the relationship between employer brand, perceived external prestige and word-of-mouth referral. Most of the previous studies about employer brand focus on its recruitment function and also word-of-mouth are mostly applied on the product decision-making. Therefore, this study is seeking to discover the influence of employer brand on triggering employees¡¦ perceived external prestige. By the process of identifying the organization, employees will further have word-of-mouth referral toward public and find the proper potential employees who will be the human capital and further be the competitive advantages for organization. This study uses two questionnaires to collect data from two levels. One of the objects of this study is human resource managers or human resource staffs who have recruitment experiences. Another one is the employee in the firm. There are 34 valid questionnaires of organizational- level and 311 valid questionnaires of individual-level. By adapting the hierarchical linear model to analyze the data and get the result: the employer brand has partially positively influence on word-of-mouth referral, the employer brand has positively influence on the perceived external prestige, the perceived external prestige has positively influence on word-of-mouth referral and the perceived external prestige has partially mediate the positively influence on the relationship between employer brand and word-of-mouth referral.

The impact of ECFA on steel industry in Taiwan

Huang, Yi-Ju 16 January 2012 (has links)
The development of Taiwanese steel industry has entered into decline stage. The domestic steel consumption is small plus being lack of steel strong demand industries. The factors mentioned above make Taiwanese steel industry shortage of supply in the upstream crude steel industry, while over-supply in rolled steel market. It would be the great chance to revitalize the steel industry to shift the oversupply capacities to the market that needs this product. Globalization and regional integration are two issues and trends in world¡¦s economic and trading perspective. The purpose of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is to liberate the trade, service and investment among the member countries. The spirit of FTA is consistency with that of WTO. Both are the vehicle of promoting trade liberation among global countries. Both Taiwan and Mainland China are member countries of WTO. However, there are still many limitations in trading between two countries. Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement, ECFA, would be considered as a FTA between Taiwan and Mainland China. Compare WTO with ECFA, ECFA could provide better clauses, schedule in trade liberation and tariff reduction in goods. Furthermore, the tariff of some goods can be fully eliminated. ECFA could be perceived as an opportunity and a threat to Taiwan. It could be a great ¡§opportunity¡¨ to create substantial trading and investment opportunities through industry investing to Taiwan. However, this agreement could also result in trade diversion effect, and it would be a ¡§threat. This study is trying to explore how ECFA impact on steel industry in Taiwan through secondary data collection and analysis. Some foreseeable impacts are listed and some response measures are suggested. Any agreement has benefits and lost. ECFA is like a two-side blade. It might bring new trading opportunities or lead the trading diversion effect. Using Taiwanese competitive edge is the key to succeed. Taiwanese steel industry should take this chance to reconsider its¡¦ product value and positioning. Trying to differentiate its steel products to others, increase the value of the products and enhance the product quality. Taiwanese steel industry could create sustainability and profitability by increasing the competitively of steel industry.

Understanding the antecedents of clan control and extra-role behavior : A social bonds perspective

Wang, Pao-min 15 February 2012 (has links)
The importance of control in information system development (ISD) project has been widely emphasized. However, most studies focused on formal control and relative few efforts haven been entered to understand the effect of information control. In addition for those studies focus on informal control only viewed this issue from team level perspective. Drawing on the limitations of past studies, this study attempted to query possible antecedents of clan control effectiveness from aspect of the social control theory. In particular, we focus on the effects of personal beliefs, project commitment, team attachment and involvement on the compliance of individuals on group norm. We hypothesized that social bonds lead to compliance as well as extra-role behaviors for individuals within project team. Based on survey data collected from 205 members of ISD project teams. The results confirmed the hypothesized relationship between social bonds and compliance. The analysis also reveals that three factors, including personal beliefs, project commitment, and involvement are associated with external-role behavior. The results of this study can not only serve as a reference for future researches but also generate implications for practitioners.

The Linux Porting and Integration Verification of An Academic 32-bit Processor

Chen, Chien-Chih 10 September 2012 (has links)
For improving the performance and application of microprocessor, it is necessary to integrate pipelined core, exception control unit, cache unit and memory management unit (MMU). The operating system is an effective way for microprocessor integration verification. However, it is not a feasible debugging methodology to detect the exact design bug while operating system booting crash. We found the main execution features of operating system are the data transfer and exception handling. We propose an integration verification methodology based on these execution features. The methodology is to verify concurrent cache transfer operation, consecutive cache transfer operation, external interrupt exception handling, page fault exception handling and multiple interrupt exception handling for microprocessor integration. We utilize ARM7-Like developed by our laboratory to do the experiment. It is effective to detect the design bugs in RTL simulation by the software-based verification methodology proposed by us. The modified ARM7-Like microprocessor is able to successfully boot Linux kernel and execute user applications in FPGA.

A Study on Photocatalytic Treatment of Acetic Acid Wastewater by Nanostructured Film of TiO2

Tsai, Ming-hsiu 07 September 2004 (has links)
In the work, photocatalytical treatment of acetic acid wastewater by nanostructured film of TiO2 under ultra-violet ¡]UV¡^ light illumination was studied. Nanosized TiO2 suspension was prepared by the sol-gel process. Then it was dip-coated on indium tin-oxide¡]ITO¡^glass, which could be used as the anode if applicable. Effects the UV light intensity, UV light wavelength, reactive area of TiO2 film, solution pH, and applied bias voltage on photocatalysis efficiency of acetic acid in term of COD removal were studied in this work. Experimental results have shown that a pseudo first-order kinetics was obeyed in all tests. In this study UV light of 312nm outperformed that of 365nm ¡]15.3¢H vs. 11.0¢H¡^. UV light intensity of 20W was also found to be superior to 10W with COD removal of 11.0¢H against 6.7¢H. COD removal at pH¡×3.18 was about 3.6 times greater as compared with that of at pH=9.98. When the reactive area of TiO2 film was increased to three times, the COD removal was almost doubled. An applied external voltage was found to enhance the removal of COD. When an external voltage of 15V was applied, the COD removal was increased to 84.6¢H. It is ascribed to an external voltage would prevent or lower the extent of electron-hole recombination. In this work, the pseudo first-order reaction rate equation K¡¬=1.7679(COD)-0.7547 was obtained for various concentrations of acetic acid tested.

Using Mining Techniques to Identify External Web Environment of Companies

Chen, Hsaio 17 January 2006 (has links)
As the rapid growth of World Wide Web nowadays, many companies tend to disseminate relevant information such as the introduction of product and service through their commercial Web sites. A company¡¦s Web site is deemed as a certain kind of its business assets. Customers, suppliers, partners, associations and other outsiders who desire to get access to the assets from the Web construct a company¡¦s external Web environment. From a strategic planning point of view, identifying a company¡¦s external environment helps to create its business values. Therefore, this research focuses on the issue of assisting a company to identify its external Web environment using mining techniques. Several research works pointed out that the hyperlink structure among Web pages could contribute to classifying the relationships within a company¡¦s external environment. We then propose a classifier that combines Web content mining and hyperlink structure, CNB-HI, for such a purpose. We apply our proposed approach to a real case to help identify the roles of customers, partners, media, and associations. Two experiments are conducted to examine the performance. In the first experiment, we compare CNB with other forms of Na&#x00EF;ve Bayesian classifiers, and conclude that CNB achieves a better performance. However, even the performance by CNB is not satisfactory based exclusively on content classification. The second experiment is conducted to examine the benefits with hyperlink information incorporated (CNB-HI). The result shows that the performance of CNB-HI improves markedly. It thus justifies the feasibility of the proposed approach to real applications.
