Deformační a napěťová analýza zubu s aplikovanou fazetou / Stress-strain Analysis of Dental Veneers

Valenta, Jiří January 2014 (has links)
This thesis focuses on stress-strain analysis of the upper central incisor with applied veneer and its variations with proximal fillings and endodontic treatment. The basic materials and veneer types are introduced at the beginning. Next chapter describes the creation of geometric models of a healthy tooth, veneers and fillings. The veneer geometry model has been done in several variants, taking different thickness values, veneer ranges and used materials into account. A finite element mesh was applied to the models. The computation model was solved using the finite element method using the ANSYS 14.0 software in the Workbench graphics environment. The results of the analysis show that the composite material is more suitable for veneers placed partially in the dentin - either with proximal fillings or without them. The ceramic material is a better option for endodontic treatment. Veneers located in the enamel are not significantly affected by the choice of material and the ceramic material is more appropriate only when proximal fillings are applied.

Detection Of Malicious Activity in Network Traffic on a Binary Representation using Image Analysis

Hjerpe, Joar, Karlsson, Oliver January 2022 (has links)
In this thesis, we explore the idea of using binary visualization and image analysis to detect anomalous activity on an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) based network. The data is gathered into a pcap file and then fed into our encoder, which uses a space-filling curve to convert the 1-dimensional stream of data into pixels with a specific red, blue, and green gradient value.  The pixels create an image which is then given to an image analysis system based on a Convolutional Neural Network, which classifies if the traffic supplied is malicious or not. The results show that using a Binary and Multiclass classifier approach to the image analysis both work well reaching an accuracy of 100% and 94% respectively. While the binary classifier is more accurate both succeed at separating Malicious from Benign traffic. The choice of space-filling curves in our binary visualization ended up having little to no impact on overall classification accuracy.

Municipal Organic Waste Composting as Management Option for Urban Agriculture: A case of Accra Metropolis, Ghana.

Hormenu, Michael Commander January 2011 (has links)
The ever-increasing population in the metropolis of Accra, Ghana resulting in con-cerns for finding lasting solutions to manage large volumes of waste produced can be tackled through composting for urban agriculture. With insanitary land filling serving as the major disposal option in the metropolis, plans to build the first ever sanitary landfill facility in the metropolis calls for measures to be taken in order to prolong the lifespan of the facility. This therefore necessitates the need to look into an alternative means of diverting organic waste from landfills. The objective of this research is to re-view the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management situations in Accra Metropolitan Assembly upon which an investigation is made into the various process steps involved in aerobic windrow composting and also finding out the possibility for integrating composting with urban agriculture. The study relied mainly on secondary data obtained from books, published articles, governmental documents, internet, and master thesis reports on related topics. By the help of a causal loop diagram, the interdependence of various policy actions and sys-tem elements in the waste management process are linked to illustrate the possibility of a composting programme for urban agriculture. Even though the metropolis for some time back has been operating a centralized composting facility, the facility is confirmed to be closed down due to problems ema-nating from financial inadequacy, power failure and mechanical breakdown. The study delve into the process steps in windrow composting and finally identified potentials for composting in the metropolis but however enumerated constraints ranging from human and environmental health, financial, institutional, policy directives, to public and leadership attitudes as stumbling blocks to the implementation of a centralized composting scheme. It finally concluded that the metropolis has the potentials to embark on composting for urban agriculture however, until measures are taken to overcome these constraints, implementing a centralized composting scheme in the metropolis may not be a sustainable option. It is further recommended that whiles the city authorities continue to tackle the constraints to pave way for the implementation of the program, efforts must be made in promoting small scale composting that rely on manually operated tools to help reduce organic waste loads in the municipal waste stream.

Timages: Enhancing Time Graphs with Iconographic Information

Jänicke, Stefan 25 January 2019 (has links)
Various time-based visualization techniques have been designed to support the temporal analysis of data collections. While quantities play a secondary role in traditional timelines that reserve space for each individual data item to be observed, time graphs rather display quantitative information and they provide interaction means to filter for a subset of the data. Timages is a hybrid approach that enhances quantitative time graphs with qualitative information in an infographic-style. By (1) scaling thumbnails of data items dependent on relevance to the observed topic and by (2) time-dependent positioning these thumbnails inside a temporally aligned area with a novel space-filling strategy, the most relevant items in the entire data collection as well as predominant data items of certain time ranges are instantly seizable without the need to interact with the time graph.

Adverse Cardiac Events and the Impaired Relaxation Left Ventricular Filling Pattern

Lavine, Steven J., Al Balbissi, Kais 01 July 2016 (has links)
Increasing diastolic dysfunction (DD) grade is associated with increased heart failure (HF). Patients with preserved ejection fractions and grade 1 DD may have left atrial dilatation, e′ < 8 cm/sec, increased left ventricular (LV) mass, or variable E/e′ ratios. The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that LV hypertrophy or E/e′ ratio > 8 may be associated with a greater incidence of HF. Methods Two hundred twelve patients with grade 1 DD and ejection fractions > 50% were retrospectively studied. Group 1 comprised 108 patients with E/A ratios < 0.8, without LV hypertrophy, e′ < 8 cm/sec, and E/e′ ratios < 8. Group 2 comprised 104 patients with LV hypertrophy or E/e′ ratios > 8. Patients with incident HF and valvular or coronary disease were excluded. Using two-dimensional Doppler echocardiography, LV and left atrial volumes and transmitral spectral and tissue Doppler were analyzed. Medical records were examined for laboratory data, HF admissions, and all-cause mortality from 2004 to 2012. Results Despite similar ejection fractions, patients in group 2 had greater LV and left atrial volumes, LV mass index values, and E/e′ ratios (P < .01 for all). HF incidence was greater in group 2 (30 vs 4, P < .001). Combined HF or all-cause mortality was greater in group 2 (46 vs 14, P < .001). Multivariate analysis revealed that HF was associated with E/e′ ratio (P < .0001), systolic blood pressure (P = .0123), and LV mass index (P = .042). Combined HF or all-cause mortality was associated with E/e′ ratio (P < .0001), LV mass index (P = .009), and lower calcium channel blocker use (P = .0011). Conclusions HF alone or HF and all-cause mortality were increased in patients with grade 1 DD in the presence of LV hypertrophy or elevated LV filling pressures.

Hyperbolic fillings of bounded metric spaces

Fagrell, Ludvig January 2023 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to expand on parts of the work of Björn–Björn–Shanmugalingam [2] and in particular on the construction and properties of hyperbolic fillings of nonempty bounded metric spaces. In light of [2], we introduce two new parameters λ and ξ to the construction while relaxing a specific maximal-condition. With these modifications we obtain a slightly more flexible model that generates a larger family of hyperbolic fillings. We then show that every hyperbolic filling in this family possess the desired property of being Gromov hyperbolic. Next, we uniformize an arbitrary hyperbolic filling of this type and show that, under fairly weak conditions, the boundary of the uniformization is snowflake-equivalent to the completion of the metric space it corresponds to. Finally, we show that this unifomized hyperbolic filling is a uniform space. In summary, our construction generates hyperbolic fillings which satisfy the necessary conditions for it to serve its intended purpose of an analytical tool for further studies in [2, Chapters 9-13 ] or similar. As such, it can be regarded as an improvement to the reference model.

An in-vitro comparison of the microleakage of RealSeal/Resilon and RealSeal Self-Etch/Resilon root canal obturation system

Iqbal, Haris January 2011 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate and compare microleakage of teeth obturated using either RealSeal/Resilon or RealSeal Self-Etch/Resilon systems. The goal was to determine whether a significant difference in microleakage exists between these two groups. To date, no study has been done comparing the microleakage of root canal systems obturated with using RealSeal/Resilon versus RealSeal SE/Resilon. Sixty-two human, single-rooted, anterior teeth were accessed and instrumented for non-surgical root canal therapy. Teeth were randomly assigned to two experimental groups of 27 teeth each. Group I consisted of teeth obturated with the RealSeal/Resilon system, whereas Group II consisted of teeth obturated with the RealSeal SE/Resilon system. In addition, two control groups containing four teeth each served as positive and negative controls, Group (+) and Group (-), respectively. The teeth were then evaluated for microleakage using a dual-chamber microleakage model. Visual turbidity in the lower chamber denoted microleakage within the experimental groups observed for 33 days. RealSeal SE Group II had a significantly higher proportion of samples than Real Seal Group I. Time to microleakage was also significantly lower in RealSeal SE Group II than in Real Seal Group I. No microleakage was observed in the negative control and microleakage was observed in all four samples in the positive control. To date, this is the first study comparing the microleakage of RealSeal/Resilon and RealSeal SE/Resilon systems. The higher microleakage associated with RealSeal SE is attributed to the higher pH of the self-etch (SE) sealer in comparison with the self-etch primer of RealSeal. The self-etching potential of the sealer system is particularly critical in areas inaccessible to calcium chelating agents such as EDTA in root canal systems. Further research needs to be done to corroborate the microleakage results from this study. The microbial leakage apparatus devised in this study, which used a selective growth medium with streptomycin, has also been validated by the results of the study. The bacterial leakage apparatus has been considered to be clinically relevant and acceptable by the Journal of Endodontics. Thus, the modified dual-chambered microleakage apparatus with a selective growth medium used in this research can be replicated easily in future microleakage studies.
