Deformačně napěťová analýza sanovaného prvního moláru / Stress - strain analysis of save first molar tooth

Valášek, Jiří January 2008 (has links)
This diploma thesis specialises in stress – strain analysis of the save tooth. Concretely this thesis works with the save tooth with cavity of the I. and II. class. At the beginning of this work you can find description of basic filling materials, different ways of cavity´s preparation and subclassification of cavity. This work describes production of geometric model of health and save tooth with cavity of the I. and II. class. Model geometer of the save tooth was im-plemented in several ways, each one concerning different form of cavity, size of cavity and different filling materials. Final element net was created on the base of these geometric mo-dels. Computational model was created with the help of the programme ANSYS 11.0 in gra-phic environment Workbench and with the help of the final elements method. The results of the analysis are following: Continuity of the save tooth happens to break thereby the whole stiffness decreases in comparison with the save tooth. Two filling materials were used for sanitation of the tooth: amalgam and composite resin. As a result of the analysis I consider amalgam to be more suitable for sanitation of teeth in moral section.

An Experimental Study of Liquid Steel Sampling

Ericsson, Ola January 2009 (has links)
Sampling of liquid steel to control the steel making process is very important in the steel industry. However, there are numerous types of disposable samplers and no united standard for sampling. The goal in this study is to investigate the effect of slag protection type and sample geometry on sampling parameters and sample homogeneity. Three sample geometries were selected: i) Björneborg ii) Lollipop with a 6 mm thickness and iii) Lollipop with a 12 mm thickness. These sample geometries have been tested with two types of slag protection: metal-cap-protection and argon-protection. The filling velocity and solidification rate of steel samples have been experimentally measured during plant trials. The sample homogeneity with respect to total oxygen content and inclusion size distribution has been determined in different parts of the samples. The study shows that argon-protected samplers have lower, more even, filling velocities (0.19±0.09 m/s) compared to metal-cap-protected samplers (1.28±2.23 m/s). The solidification rate measurements of the different samplers show that the 6 mm thick Lollipop has the highest solidification rate (99~105 °C/s).  Measurements of total oxygen content in argon-protected samples showed little variation between different zones of the samples. However, metal-cap-protected samples contained much higher total oxygen contents. Light optical microscope studies showed that the increase in total oxygen content was probably caused by entrapment of top slag during sampling. Furthermore, it was found that the contamination of top slag in the metal samples increased with a decreased sample weight. Determination of inclusion size distribution in argon-protected Lollipop samples showed that a larger number of primary inclusions are found in the top part compared to the middle and the bottom part of the samples.

Algorithm Oriented to the Detection of the Level of Blood Filling in Venipuncture Tubes Based on Digital Image Processing

Castillo, Jorge, Apfata, Nelson, Kemper, Guillermo 01 January 2021 (has links)
El texto completo de este trabajo no está disponible en el Repositorio Académico UPC por restricciones de la casa editorial donde ha sido publicado. / This article proposes an algorithm oriented to the detection of the level of blood filling in patients, with detection capacity in millimeters. The objective of the software is to detect the amount of blood stored into the venipuncture tube and avoid coagulation problems due to excess fluid. It also aims to avoid blood levels below that required, depending on the type of analysis to be performed. The algorithm acquires images from a camera positioned in a rectangular structure located within an enclosure, which has its own internal lighting to ensure adequate segmentation of the pixels of the region of interest. The algorithm consists of an image improvement stage based on gamma correction, followed by a segmentation stage of the area of pixels of interest, which is based on thresholding by HSI model, in addition to filtering to accentuate the contrast between the level of filling and staining, and as a penultimate stage, the location of the filling level due to changes in the vertical tonality of the image. Finally, the level of blood contained in the tube is obtained from the detection of the number of pixels that make up the vertical dimension of the tube filling. This number of pixels is then converted to physical dimensions expressed in millimeters. The validation results show an average percentage error of 0.96% by the proposed algorithm. / Revisión por pares

Anpassning av förpackningar till e-handel : Fallstudie på ett marknadsledande detaljhandelsföretag

Andrén, Emil, Helsing, Jesper January 2021 (has links)

Fog and fog deposition: A novel approach to estimate the occurrence of fog and the amount of fog deposition: a case study for Germany

Körner, Philipp 07 December 2021 (has links)
This thesis is written as a cumulative dissertation. It presents methods and results which contribute to an improved understanding of the spatio-temporal variability of fog and fog deposition. The questions to be answered are: When is there how much fog, and where and how much fog is deposited on the vegetation as fog precipitation? Freely available data sets serve as a database. The meteorological input data are obtained from the Climate Data Center (CDC) of the German Meteorological Service (DWD). Station data for temperature, relative humidity and wind speed in hourly resolution are used. In addition, visibility data are used for validation purposes. Furthermore, Global Forest Heights (GFH) data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) are used as vegetation height data. The data from NASA’s Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) is used as a digital elevation model. The first publication deals with gap filling and data compression for further calculations. This is necessary since the station density for hourly data is relatively low, especially before the 2000s. In addition, there are more frequent gaps in hourly data than in, for instance, daily data, which can thus be filled. It is shown that gradient boosting (gb) enables high quality gap filling in a short computing time. The second publication deals with the determination of the fog, especially with the liquid water content (lwc). Here the focus is on the correction of measurement errors of the relative humidity as well as methods of spatial interpolation are dealt with. The resulting lwc data for Germany with a temporal resolution of one hour and a spatial resolution of one kilometre, are validated against measured lwc data as well as visibility data of the DWD. The last publication uses the data and methods of the two previous publications. The vegetation and wind speed data are also used to determine fog precipitation from the lwc data. This is validated using data from other publications and water balance calculations. In addition to the measured precipitation, the fog precipitation data are used as an input variable for the modelling. This is also one of the possible applications: To determine precipitation from fog, which is not recorded by standard measuring methods, and thus to make water balance modelling more realistic.:1 MOTIVATION 6 2 PROBLEM DEFINITION AND TARGET SETTING 6 3 STRUCTURE 7 4 MODEL LIMITS 9 5 PUBLICATIONS 9 6 OUTLOOK 29

Simulation of Vertical Filling Processes of Granular Foods for typical Retail Amounts

Kirsch, Stefan, Philipp, André 29 May 2018 (has links)
Vertical baggers play an important role in the packaging of food granulates such as bite-sized snacks, candy and nuts. Increasing demands regarding productivity and throughput pressure manufacturers to employ increasingly sophisticated engineering tools over conventional design through trial and error and experience. The Discrete Element Method (DEM) is a powerful tool for prediction of bulk behavior, however randomness in the packaging process impairs reproducibility of simulations, especially when working in the typical range of particle counts less than 1000. This study looks into statistic methods to determine under which conditions adequate reliability of simulation results can be achieved. Both the influence of the goal variables used to describe the process and the influence of the particle count are discussed. The examples given can be adapted to similar scenarios and lay the foundation for future simulation assisted design of vertical filling processes.
