As Galipeinae (Galipeeae, Rutaceae) no estado da Bahia, Brasil / The Galipeinae (Galipeeae, Rutaceae) in Bahia State, Brazil

Ribeiro, Carimi Cortez 08 May 2015 (has links)
The Rutaceae family has been the subject of several studies in the Neotropics. However, there are areas that need further more studies of its flora. Bahia has a great diversity of plant species, including plants of the Rutaceae family, especially the subtribe Galipeinae. Botanically unexplored areas, high biodiversity and endemism, like southern Bahia, has revealed new species to science, suggesting the need of floristic studies. The present work is part of the project \"Flora da Bahia\", developed by Bahian institutions in collaboration with universities and research centers from other states, which aims to raise the angiosperm flora of Bahia, and train new taxonomists. In this project, the taxonomic treatments of angiosperm groups are being performed at the level of families, tribes or genera. This work complements the project contributing to taxonomic studies of Galipeinae subtribe (Galipeeae, Rutaceae) of Bahia. In Bahia there is a large number of species of Galipeinae, mainly in the Atlantic Forest of south side. The subtribe Galipeinae is the most diverse group of Rutaceae of the Neotropics and the largest intra-family group, with ca. 26 genera and ca. 120 species. The Galipeinae differs from most Rutaceae due its tendency to zygomorphy flowers, transformation of fertile stamens into staminodes, these strucutures 2 to 5 (variously), anthers appendage, often plicate cotyledons and endosperm absence; the fruit is always dehiscent, capsule or follicle. The project was conducted following the usual methods in plant taxonomy, such as consulting the literature, visit the herbaria, loan materials, exsiccates analysis and field work. The results contain descriptions of the subtribe, genera, species, identification keys, comments of distribution, occurrence, phenology and common names of species reported only for the Bahia state, and illustrations in ink and photographs. In Bahia were raised 46 species of Subtribe Galipeinae, which 39.1% are endemic showing high degree of endemism in this region.

Cândido, Jacqueline Bonfim e 09 December 2016 (has links)
Tocantins is one of the Brazilian states with the largest area covered by the Cerrado biome, about 72% of native vegetation cover. However, studies with a key to dendrological identification and the phenological behavior associated to the knowledge of the endangered species of Cerrado shrub in the State of Tocantins are still scarce or incipient, thus promoting a lack of technical and scientific information. The establishment of priorities for future conservation strategies and management plans for Cerrado botanical species. In view of the context, the objective was to elaborate a dichotomous key, based on vegetative characteristics of shrub-tree species, in addition to confronting the official lists of endangered Brazilian flora species and to diagnose the dispersal syndromes of the diaspores of a Cerrado Sensu stricto, Gurupi - TO. Five permanent plots of 20×50m, or 1000 m² each, were systematically allocated, 10 m apart. All shrub-arboreal individuals, with circumference at 1.30 m of soil (CAP) greater than or equal to 10 cm were sampled. The botanical materials of the species, when necessary, were herbalised following conventional techniques. The species sampled were classified as the dispersion syndrome and the risk of extinction information found in specialized literature. For the elaboration of the identification key, a selection was made among the 106 species sampled, considering only the species that had absolute density greater or equal to 5 individuals, in this way 54 species were selected, it should be emphasized that this species selection had as objective To include only the species with the greatest recurrence in the cerrado sensu stricto in order to enable the functionality of the key. A total of 106 species, included in 82 genera, belonging to 43 families, were sampled, 61% of which are zoochoric, 31% anemochromic and 8% autochromatic. As for the risk of extinction, 24 are categorized under some degree of risk, according to the red list of CNCFlora, 20 species are Less worrisome, a species almost threatened and another species classified as Insufficient data, according to the IUCN list, a species Is classified as Vulnerable. The identification key based on vegetative characters was composed of 54 shrub-tree species of eudicotiledonias and basal angiosperms, distributed in 47 genera included in 26 botanical families. The preparation of the dendrological identification key was shown to be a functional tool, that is, it allowed a quick and easy identification of the sampled vegetable species.

Has been extremely devastated over the years and the Park has approximately 185.000 ha, which equivalent to 4% of the state's original vegetation. Rubiaceae is among the ten largest families in number of species and also has a high number of endemism in the Atlantic Forest. This work was divided into two sections, the first being a floristic inventory of Rubiaceae and similarity of areas within the ParNa Iguaçu. The Park was divided into three areas for this study: Capanema, located in the south with Forest Semideciduous; Céu Azul, farther north, with transition between Semideciduous Forest and Araucaria Forest and the region of Foz do Iguaçu, southwest of the park, with Semideciduous Forest. The analysis showed that the areas of Capanema and Foz do Iguaçu have about 80% similarity. In the second chapter we present identification keys, descriptions and illustrations, as well as taxonomic and ecological comments and distribution of the species. We identified 26 species in 13 genera, Psychotria being the most diverse, with five species, followed by Borreria, Galianthe, Manettia and Palicourea with three species each, Geophila with two species, and the other genera, Coccocypselum Coussarea, Diodia, Faramea, Hamelia, Richardia and Spermacoce with only one species each. Klahs, Phillip C 01 December 2014 (has links)
An inventory of vascular plants was conducted in Steele Creek Park in Sullivan County, Tennessee from March 2013 to September 2014. The park covers an area of 892 ha and lies within the Ridge and Valley Province. The inventory of vascular plants documented 547 species of 323 genera and 101 families. Two hundred sixteen taxa were newly reported for Sullivan County. Tennessee Special Concern Species included Cardamine rotundifolia, Castanea dentata, Lonicera dioica, Allium tricoccum, Cypripedium acaule, and Panax quinquefolius. A single species, Juglans cinerea L., is considered a Tennessee Threatened Species. Vegetation patterns were studied quantitatively by installing 10 study plots within forest canopy gaps and a comparable set of 10 in areas with intact canopy. Plots within a canopy gap recorded more vascular plant diversity when compared to plots of intact canopy when unshared species were considered. Steele Creek Park provides a botanically rich area for future studies.

A Vascular Plant Inventory and Description of the Twelve Plant Community Types Found in the University of South Florida Ecological Research Area, Hillsborough County, Florida

Schmidt, Anne Candace 29 July 2005 (has links)
The University of South Florida Ecological Research Area (USF Eco Area), located in west central Hillsborough County, is an approximately 306 hectare (756 acre) natural area on the Hillsborough River composed of twelve plant communities. While surrounded on three sides by urbanization, the USF Eco Area makes up the western most section of an extended natural corridor that runs approximately 88 kilometers (55 miles) east and north along the Hillsborough River. An inventory of the vascular flora and the associated ecological communities was developed to better assess the USF Eco Area for educational and research purposes as well as enhance informed decisions when evaluating its status for conservation and management purposes. The study, conducted from June 2001 through August 2005, documented 404 vascular plant taxa in 251 genera and 102 families. Three hundred and seventy-eight taxa (94%) are native to Florida of which 13 are endemic; nine are listed as endangered, threatened, or commercially exploited; four are first time recorded occurrences for Hillsborough County; and ten taxa are listed as Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council’s Category I or II invasive species. Eleven natural plant communities and one ruderal/developed plant community were documented, mapped and characterized by their unique vegetative, topographic, soil, and hydrological components based on qualitative field observations. The blackwater stream, floodplain swamp, floodplain forest, floodplain marsh, hydric hammock, seepage slope, and wet flatwoods are wetland plant communities that cover 65% of the USF Eco Area. Upland plant communities, covering the remaining 35%, are mesic flatwoods, scrubby flatwoods, sandhill, xeric hammock, and ruderal/developed.

FLORÍSTICA DE UMA RESERVA PARTICULAR DO PATRIMÔNIO NATURAL EM FRAGMENTO DE MATA ATLÂNTICA (ITAARA, RS, BRASIL) / FLORISTIC OF THE PRIVATE NATURAL HERITAGE RESERVES IN ATLANTIC FOREST FRAGMENT (ITAARA, RS, BRAZIL)

Ferrarese, Marina Deon 26 August 2016 (has links)
There are two biomes in the state of Rio Grande do Sul - the Atlantic Forest and the Pampa. According to official agencies, they represent the smallest native vegetation coverages left in Brazil, and only about 2.6% of this territory is protected in Conservation Units (CUs).Thus, we see the importance of the implementation of CUs in these areas of the state, as well as the need for knowledge of the flora, in order to provide effective measures to preserve not only species, but of the whole ecosystem. This study aimed to carry out the floristic survey (native vascular plants) of a fragment located in a biome area of Atlantic Forest, in the forest edge of the Serra Geral, in the MO Ã Private Reserve of the State Natural Heritage, located in the municipality of Itaara, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. To do so, in the period between 2014 and 2015, fifteen collecting expeditions took place in the study area, by the Caminhamento method, covering the sixteen seasons. The collected material was identified, herborized and forwarded for inclusion in the SMDB herbarium. In total, there were 277 native taxa from Brazil, belonging to 72 families. Among the Angiosperms, the highest number of species was distributed in the Asteraceae, Poaceae and Fabaceae families; among the Ferns, the highest number was from the Polypodiaceae, Pteridaceae and Dryopteridaceae families. The group of Gymnosperms was represented by the Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.)Kuntze and Podocarpus lambertii Klotzsch ex Endl. This study provided a table including the families and species with their habit, illustrations, and information on the occurrence of species in the different environments of the area that was studied, as well as their degree of threat in Rio Grande do Sul. The results extend the knowledge of the local flora and of the edge Plateau of Rio Grande do Sul in Itaara, also demonstrating the importance and potential of the studied site.
