Představy rodičovských párů o otcovství / Parental Couples' Views on Fatherhood

Pavlíček, Michal January 2017 (has links)
This work focuses on the question of contemporary forms of fatherhood and thus responds to the current discussion about the greater involvement of men in childcare and domestic work. This ongoing discussion is closely associated with the equal opportunities for men and women. However, existing research shows that in most czech families the traditional gender division of family roles, which disadvantages women both within family and work life and limits men in fulfilling their parentel role, still prevails. The concept of active fatherhood presents man as an equally competent parent as a woman who is actively and more equally involved in childcare and domestic work. Poromoting this concept should help to eliminate inequalities mentioned above. The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic, in support of active fatherhood, has conducted sociological research "The Forms of Paternity in the Czech Republic". The qualitative research carried out in this work is based on the research areas of the qualitative part of the mentioned research, specifically the part focused on the involvement of fathers in childcare and their ideas about the father's role. Conducted research tries to provide a more complete picture of the form of fatherhood through the inclusion of women to my research. The...

Androcentrismus v současné britské mluvené angličtině / Androcentrism in contemporary spoken British English

Hladíková, Lenka January 2019 (has links)
The present thesis deals with the frequency and ways of using gender-specific and gender- neutral occupational labels and attempts to show if there is a tendency towards a more balanced representation of men and women in the contemporary spoken British English. The theoretical part describes the approaches to the study of language from the perspective of gender and summarises the previous research in the area of gender linguistics, focusing on the representation of men and women through language, linguistic androcentrism and sexism, language reforms proposed within the framework of equality movements and the impact of these reforms. The empirical part examines the frequencies and ways of using occupational -man compounds and compares them to their female and gender-neutral alternatives in the British parliamentary speeches, using the data from the Hansard corpus. The compounds with -man can be viewed as problematic since, from a feminist viewpoint, they contribute to linguistic invisibility of women, therefore efforts have been made to eliminate their usage. This thesis shows that overall the occupational -man forms tend to prevail over -woman, -person and other alternatives in the British parliamentary debates. However, it appears that with some occupations gender-neutral forms are becoming...

The second chapter first describes the development of EU law in relation to positive measures that can justify a higher participation of women in the bodies of business corporations in relation to the principle of non-discrimination, mentioning the most important case law of the ECJ. Than is also mentioned the possibility of positive measures in Czech legislation. The second chapter also mentions the economic aspects of women's representation on boards in the sense that the presence of women can influence the body and thus the whole corporation. The third chapter describes the means by which women's participation in corporate bodies can be increased, what goals can be achieved and what sanctions can be imposed in case of non-compliance with the set goals. The arguments for and against the introduction of legal quotas are also...
