This thesis highlights the issue of gender stereotypes in the Police of the Czech Republic - among policemen and policewomen who serve at the Regional headquarters of the Police in České Budějovice. The thesis also deals with the demands of the profession and the comparison of gender differences between men and women in this profession. In addition to a simple division of each part of the police and its structure, the history of gender issues is described in detail, as well as examples of stereotypical behaviour, its origins and causes. The thesis deals with the position of women in the society, both in the historical perspective and in the present time. Statistical data are listed here as well as and the numbers of police officers in service - men and women. The thesis focuses on a specific group of police employees - policemen and policewomen officers and police officer working in the town of České Budějovice. The gender issues are a very interesting topic. Differences between male and a female are not only physical, but the individuals of opposite sexes assess each other with the help of learned or acquired stereotypes that they brings from their original families. Gender stereotypes influence the lives of people in this society and they can be found in police staff as well. Considering the growing number of women within the Police of the Czech Republic, there are frequent conflicts between the two sexes. This paper discusses the ways in which the individual members of the opposite sexes perceive their counterparts. The way they are perceived in the emotional as well as the professional domains. The research was conducted using the method of a semantic differential by means of a questionnaire and 100 respondents, policemen as well as policewomen, took part in it.

Genderové aspekty afrického rozvoja / Gender aspects of African Development

Kolcunová, Petra January 2010 (has links)
Trade liberalization has different impacts on groups of individuals in the society. Some of them improve their situation, the other ones get worse. Due to the existing gender inequali-ties the distribution of benefits from trade liberalization between women and men is dis-proportional. The paper indentifies main areas, in which are the gender inequalities the most significant. African women are limited in their access to education, productive resources and to technologies, but also to the means of financing. These limits prevent women from full participation in trade and therefore also in economic growth of the country. The creation of new jobs in export-oriented sectors presents the main contribution of trade liberalization for African women. The income they are getting form those jobs are usually used to finance the education and health care for children, that is why their quality of life may improve. The paper concentrates on the reciprocal relation between liberalization and gender equality, which is demonstrated on the status of women in trade and in export-oriented sectors.

Travesti Show: Performativita a Vyjednávání Genderové Identity / Travesty Show: Performativity and Negotiation of Gender Identity

Chistyakova, Anastasia January 2019 (has links)
This thesis is concerned with the question of gender identification in drag culture. The research, upon which this work is based, focuses on Czech drag queens that participate in drag (travesti) show in an LGBTQ+ enterprise in Prague. In my research, I have attempted to grasp the motivation of my informants to do drag, their connection to queer culture and the ways in which they create their own aesthetic on stage. With the help of these topics, I approach the problem of their gender identification, both in and out of drag. On the basis of the collected fieldwork material and relevant literature, I problematize gender identification among my informants. On the basis of such identification, I furthermore attempt to demonstrate limitations and shortcomings of the heteronormative framework of gender performativity, gender performance and gender identification in general. Keywords: travesty show, drag, queer, homosexuality, performativity, performance, heteronormativity, gender subversion

Lukina, Julie January 2020 (has links)
The master thesis copes with gender dysphoria (GD) in persons with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The quantitative research was chosen to study this topic. The main goal was to determine whether people with mild ASD have a higher prevalence of GD or higher rate of GD compared to the general neurotypical population (NT). The main methods used in this research were: Autism Quotient Questionnaire (AQ-10) and the Gender Identity/Gender Dysphoria Questionnaire in Adolescents and Adults (GIDYQ-AA), which made it possible to determine the degree of GD and the potential co-occurrence of a diagnosis of gender incongruence (GI; according to ICD-11). In the research there were 196 subjects with the age ranging from 16 to 74 years. The ASD group was compromised 90 persons and in the NT group there were 106 people. While in the NT group no one admitted transgender identity, in the ASD group 2.2 % of subjects informed about transgender identity and 14.4 % of the autistic group were not sure about it. Based on the GIDYQ-AA results, 4.4 % of people with ASD had a low score indicating a possible presence of a diagnosis of GD (GI). Furthermore, the research found that women with autism had significantly higher rate of GD than both women in the NT group and men with ASD. Overall, subjects with ASD achieved...

Sladění profesního a rodinného života / Reconciling work and family life

Balvínová, Lucie January 2019 (has links)
1 ABSTRACT The current European family is based on the ideal of gender equality and considers the interest of the child to be fundamental. The European Union strategy is to involve as many women as possible in the labour market and encourages national governments to adopt measures to enable women to reconcile their work and care for children. Developed countries also promote both parents being equally involved in the care of children, including preschool children. Czech legislation conforms to European standards and creates the preconditions for reconciling family and work life. In practice, the conservative attitude of both parents and employers persists. The mother usually stays at home with a child under the age of three and employers are not very accommodating to flexible forms of work that enable mothers of young children to get involved in the work process. The way to change the situation is to increase corporate social responsibility and family friendliness and to change the attitudes of parents themselves, increasing the involvement of fathers in care of children in particular. Solutions to the protection and support of pregnancy, maternity and parenthood, as well as the protection of the child in the Czech Republic can be considered as above-standard and comparable to the situation in the most...

Analýza potencionálního vlivu současné hudby a hudebních textů na utváření genderových identit z pohledu posluchačů / Analysis of Potential Impact of Contemporary Music and Lyrics on Gender Construction from the Audience Perspective

Marxtová, Kateřina January 2020 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of gender in music and also its perception by the audience. The research topic was chosen for the increasing consumption of music media and for the lack of research focused on gender in music and on the perception of music lyrics in general. The research part uses both the qualitative content analysis of music lyrics contained in the sample of Billboard Top Charts songs for the past 50 years (between years 1970-2019), and also semi-structured qualitative interviews on a multi-generation sample. Included in the content analysis was the total of 500 songs, interviewed were 8 respondents of various genders and ages to accomplish a diverse sample. The topics of males, females and their relationship proved to be the dominant topics in the research music sample, and it also went through a significant development over time. The research identified a movement from metaphoric language to explicit, at the same time it identified a development of the metaphors. Also observed was the inclination to communicate different topics between male and female artists. Women were more focused on the topics of love, love triangle, end of the relationship, and submission. Genderová nevyváženost na českém Spotify / Is Czech Spotify Gender-Biased?

Křížková, Alžběta January 2021 (has links)
Is Czech Spotify gender-biased? Alžběta Křížková Abstract This thesis analyses the gender inequality of music streaming platform Spotify. It focuses on Czech Spotify, ergo, on the Czech music industry between May 2020 and March 2021. The interdisciplinary study covers crucial theoretical concepts from the theory of platforms, popular music, and gender studies. It verifies whether the theory built on Anglo-Saxon tradition can be applied to the local setting. The dataset comprises of songs placed in the "TOP 200" chart and select editorial playlists. The chart illustrates song popularity based on listeners (organic listening), and chosen editorial playlists indicate the platform's promotion of songs (suggested listening). The gender gap analysis is based on a comparison of three gender ratios of songs entering the platform in total, in the playlists, and songs that make it to the chart. The empirical research utilises fundamental statistics and presents various song aspects (genre, record label, band formation, and others) in relation to artists' gender on Spotify, but also in the Czech music industry. The results show a low representation of female artists in the whole industry, while the platform actively promotes female artists via suggested listening. Organic listening endorses gender stereotypes and...
