Three Hounds of the Baskervilles / Baskervilles tre Hundar

Oxenhall, Johan January 2018 (has links)
Sherlock Holmes have been adapted to film for over a hundred years. The purpose with this essay is to conduct a study of how adaptations of the Sherlock Holmes novel The Hound of the Baskervilles have been adjusted between 1939 and 2012, to make the story more appropriate for their contemporary audience. The analysis is based on Sidney Lanfields 1939 adaptation with Basil Rathbone, the 1959 Terence Fisher adaptation with Peter Cushing and the 2012 adaptation for the TV series Sherlock. The Essay is based in adaption theory, to determine how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel has been changed and adjusted to make the story more appropriate for the contemporary audience of the adaptation in question. The analysis is divided into three chapters, which examines different aspects of what has been adapted. The different chapters analyze how the filmmakers have reworked and interpreted Doyle’s novel for their time, how they have interpreted and reworked the female characters and how Sherlock himself has evolved between the three adaptations.

HIPOLITO, FABIO C. 21 December 2016 (has links)
Submitted by Marco Antonio Oliveira da Silva (maosilva@ipen.br) on 2016-12-21T18:18:35Z No. of bitstreams: 0 / Made available in DSpace on 2016-12-21T18:18:35Z (GMT).

Orientador: Paulo Vatavuk / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Civil, Arquitetura e Urbanismo / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-11T08:47:49Z (GMT). The determination of the maximum and minimum pressures is of great interest to the designer, so that he can size the pipes and/or design protection devices, with the objective of decrease head variations, that can decrease the instalation life. In this work, one of those devices was chosen for study, the air vessel, that protects the instalation against overpressures and underpressures, avoiding the interruption of the flow when the pumping system is turned off or when a valve closes too fast. The present work has the main objective of making charts and graphs of application for pre-sizing of air vessels to the mitigation of Waterhammer in pressure pipes by facilitating, in this way, the work of designers in choosing this type of protection of hydraulic systems / Mestrado / Recursos Hidricos / Mestre em Engenharia Civil

Laboratorní demonstrátor pro vibrační diagnostiku / Laboratory demonstrator for vibrodiagnostics

Blecha, Martin January 2019 (has links)
This thesis deals with a vibration diagnostics of objects, structures and machines. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters according to type of the measurement. The first part called Modal Analysis discusses the basis of vibration, methods of measurement, relevant technical equipment and principle of experimental modal analysis. The second and third chapters of the thesis are focused on the diagnosis of defects. Each chapter mentioned above describes diagnosed defects, used methods and procedure for the diagnosis. Another part of the thesis summarizes practical issues and results gained in the laboratory experiments. It begins with discovering parameters of the measured object using technical diagnostics – experimental modal analysis. In the next step the hardware concept design was created, including custom measuring application programmed in LabVIEW. One part of the design is the laboratory model which includes a structure for free mounting and a possibility of excitation by an electrodynamic exciter. The application is also modified to enable measurements with shaker excitation. Finally, applications cooperating with professional software ModalVIEW and BK Connect were developed in order to simplify the operation and increase the comfort.
