Bengtsson, Andreas, Bodin, Pierre January 2022 (has links)
Skanska Grundläggning in Region Special wishes to gain an increased understanding of the extent to which it differs in the wear of percussion hammers and pilot drill crowns, depending on which driving medium is used in down-the-hole drilling, as well as logistical and economic aspects depending on the chosen method. Down-the-hole drilling means that the hammer works down in the borehole and forms one of the components at the far end of the drill string together with a drill bit. The blow of the hammer is created by air or water at high pressure. The piling method that is examined is drilled steel pipe piles, which means that a steel pipe pile is driven into the ground in step with the hammer and the drill bit's advancement. Once the desired depth has been reached, the drill string with the drill bit is pulled out of the casing and then the steel pipe pile is filled with concrete. The study aims to examine the products' lifespans and repair intervals from several different perspectives and set them against reality, as well as what the different methods have for differences regarding logistics and establishment. This is to create a basis for future decisions on the most suitable method of down-the-hole drilling. The beginning of the study consisted of qualitative preliminary interviews to identify and create a problem formulation that was dealt with via a literature study, five semi-structured interviews, eleven questionnaires, internal data from drilling protocols and purchasing. The result shows that there is some difference in wear in the hammer depending on whether it is an air or water powered system, the wear appears in different places and can have an impact on the life of the hammer. The wear that occurs most frequently on drill bit is grinding on the buttons. Geotechnical differences for various projects are a significant factor in the service life of the equipment. An air hammer requires that the air constantly being mixed with lubricating oil and that an air compressor consumes more diesel compared to a high-pressure pump for the equivalent water hammer. The handling of water that is flushed out of the borehole is considered a concern. To reduce wear on water hammers and thus fewer replacements and more repairs, a drill bit intended for water powered down-the-hole hammer should be used. DTH-drilling with an air hammer is considered an industry standard and a certain skepticism towards a water powered system may indicate inexperience.

Recycling of Glass Fiber Composites

Krishnamoorthi, Ramesh, Shinzhao, Zhang January 2012 (has links)
Composites are the materials which can be used for a wide variety of applications andproducts such as sports equipment, aerospace and marine because of light and stiffnessproperties. Composites are often made from thermoset resin with glass fibers. In this study, two ways of recycling composites were evaluated, which are microwavepyrolysed composites (MGC) and mechanical composites (GC). These glass fibers weregoing to be compounded with Polypropylene (PP) or Maleic Anhydride ModifiedPolypropylene (MAPP) and then injection moulded the sample by Micro-compounder.In order to get better adhesion to the polymer, a coating was added. The Neoxil 5682-polypropylene water emulsion was evaluated. The samples were characterized by Tensile Testing, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA),Different Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) to find aoptimum combination of recycled glass fiber reinforced polymer.Microwave pyrolysis is a new research area. The glass fiber, polymer oil and gas can beobtained by heating the composite with microwaves to in an inert atmosphere. The polymeroil can be distillated and then evaluated with GC-MS; in order to obtain the chemicalcompositions. Keywords: Composites, grinded and microwave pyrolyse composites (MGC), grindedcomposites (GC), Polypropylene (PP), Maleic Anhydride Modified Polypropylene (MAPP),Micro-compounder, Tensile Testing, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Different ScanningCalorimetry (DSC), and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), Microwave pyrolysis, polymer oil, distillation, GCMS Analysis. / Program: MSc in Resource Recovery - Sustainable Engineering

Zum Einfluss unterschiedlicher Behandlungsverfahren und Zusatzstoffe auf ernährungsphysiologische Parameter und Leistung wachsender Broiler nach Verabreichung weizenbetonter Futtermischungen / Influence of different feeed treatment and feed additives on nutritional-physiological parameters and perfomence of growing chicken after application f wheat-based diets

Amad, Abdulkarim Abdulmaged 17 May 2001 (has links)
In mehrfaktoriellen 2 x 2 x 4 Untersuchungen im Zeitraum vom 7. - 28. Lebenstag und in Bilanzversuchen vom 15. - 20.

Contributions à la commande prédictive des systèmes de lois de conservation / Contribution to predictive control for systems of conservation laws

Pham, Van Thang 06 September 2012 (has links)
The predictive control or Receding Horizon Optimal Control (RHOC) is becoming increasingly popular in many practical applications due to its significant advantages such as the stabilization and constraints handling. It has been well studied for finite dimensional systems even in the nonlinear case. However, its extension to infinite dimensional systems has not received much attention from researchers. This thesis proposes contributions on the application of this approach to systems of conservation laws. We present a complete proof of stability of RHOC for some classes of infinite dimensional systems. This result is then used for 2x2 hyperbolic systems with boundary control, and applied to an irrigation canal. We also propose the extension of this strategy to networks of cascaded 2x2 hyperbolic systems with an application to a set of connected irrigation canals. Furthermore, we study the benefits of RHOC in the context of nonlinear and semi-linear systems in particular with respect to the problem of shocks. All theoretical analyzes are validated by simulation in order to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Zlepšení výroby aeronautické součásti / Production improvement of an aeronautical part

Laforce, Francois January 2011 (has links)
Since aircrafts manufacturers intend to produce low consumption and efficient aircrafts, parts become more and more difficult to machine. Some processes like „air machining“ enables a one-step production for complex aluminium alloy shaped parts. Although the assembly offers a large access to cutting tool, the lack of stiffness for large parts, and especially for thin-walled aeronautics parts implies strong vibrations during machining. The aim of the study is to solve these difficulties in order to keep productivity and improve surface quality. Further innovative solutions are considered like modal analysis, in-phase machining, spindle speed variation, 3 flutes end mill and variable helix angle mill. All propositions are tested on DMG 65 machine tool with Siemens 840D controller. Although vibrations are intrinsic to flexible parts, surface quality has been improved with higher cutting continuity and variable helix angle cutting tool.

Vytvoření předpokladů pro hodnocení vlastností vysokopevnostních betonů s využitím nedestruktivních metod zkoušení / Creating conditions for evaluation of high-strength concrete characteristics using non-destructive testing methods

Procházka, David Unknown Date (has links)
High-strength concrete (HSC) belongs in the recent years to frequently used types of concrete. It allows realization of static challenging structures and also shows due to its dense structure greater durability especially against aggressive media. Currently HSC construction realization abroad is not exceptional. It’s using in the Czech Republic is still limited. When realized, then in a small scale in civil engineering works. The realization of high-strength concrete structures is closely related with the concrete construction quality verification. Good efficiency of the quality control methods can provide non-destructive testing methods (NDT), especially when investigating strength of concrete built in structure. A lack on relevant data for non-destructive testing of HSC in technical and normative rules is to be considered as a significant deficiency. Evident for HSC generally is the lack in literature on deeper analysis of the factors affecting their non-destructive testing, as well a meaningful methodology or practically usable calibration relationships. HSC differs from ordinary concrete not only by used components, but also by more compact structure with different strength – elastic characteristics. Considering these differences, HSC strength prediction can not be performed by using calibration relationships developed for ordinary concrete. Moreover, the question is to what extent the current knowledge of the NDT results influencing factors can be considered as valid. The paper presents findings on the effects of the key factors affecting the measurement results of Schmidt hardness method and ultrasonic pulse method, including recommendations for the practical application of these methods. The problematic of static vs. dynamic modulus of elasticity was also solved. Calibration equations for predicting the compressive strength of HSC from the non-destructive testing parameter were elaborated, showing high cohesion among variables and practically usability.

IMPACT BEHAVIOR OF AMMONIUM PERCHLORATE (AP) - HYDROXYL-TERMINATED POLYBUTADIENE (HTPB) COMPOSITE MATERIAL

Saranya Ravva (15353902) 25 April 2023 (has links)
<p>This work investigated the effects of varying the crystal sizes of ammonium perchlorate (AP) when embedded with a polymeric binder, hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) on impact-induced temperature behavior.  AP and HTPB are the most used oxidizers and fuel binders in the aerospace solid rocket design industry. In this study, samples of 200 µm and 400µm coarse AP crystals in HTPB were constructed using a conventional hand-mixing method. Using a parametric optimization technique such as the Taguchi method, direct-ink-writing as the additive manufacturing process was used for achieving the required shape fidelity in printing HTPB and by introducing ultraviolet polymers to decrease the curing time.</p> <p>A drop hammer experiment in conjunction with an infrared camera was used to study the impact-induced behavior in the conventionally made AP-HTPB samples. The thermal images obtained from the camera at millisecond resolution are invaluable and provide information about distribution across the sample surface, and the evolution of temperature rise observed in the samples which are complex and not easily understood otherwise and therefore help in improving and attaining desired propellant performance. A two-sample t-Test has been utilized to infer the results and statistical nonsignificance has been observed in the highest temperature rises among 200 µm and 400 µm AP-HTPB sample conditions but a difference in temperature distribution has been observed. A much uniform distribution of temperature over the sample surface on impact is observed in thermal images of 200 µm AP-HTPB sample condition compared to 400 µm AP-HTPB sample condition.</p>

Ring Out Your Dead : Distribution, form, and function of iron amulets in the late Iron Age grave fields of Lovö

Mattsson McGinnis, Meghan January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to analyze the distribution, forms, and function(s) of iron amulets deposited in the late Iron Age gravefields of Lovö, with the goal of ascertaining how (and so far as possible why) these objects were utilized in rituals carried out during and after burials. Particular emphasis is given to re-interpreting the largest group of iron amulets, the iron amulet rings, in a more relational and practice-focused way than has heretofore been attempted. By framing burial analyses, questions of typology, and evidence of ritualized actions in comparison with what is known of other cult sites in Mälardalen specifically– and theorized about the cognitive landscape(s) of late Iron Age Scandinavia generally– a picture of iron amulets as inscribed objects made to act as catalytic, protective, and mediating agents is brought to light.

Problematika testování stříkaných betonů / The Issue of testing shotcrete

Škapová, Pavla January 2014 (has links)
The master‘s thesis focuses on testing the shotcrete prepared in laboratory conditions. The main observed properties are compresive strenght of shotcrete and modulus of elasticity. The aim is assessment of methods for measuring those parameters. The calibrating correlations for strenght characteristics of shotcrete are given by obtaining the results of used methods. The shotcrete composition, amount and type of accelerating additive as well as economic aspect of using shotcrete is also assessed.
