Abstract: Classification in Paralympic sports is a part of competition regulation, playing an important role in minimizing the differences among athletes different disabilities. Classification has two important roles that are, to determine the eligibility to compete and to group athletes for competition. The Classification Code and International Standards of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) details policies and procedures that should be common to all sports. Since 2005, wheelchair handball (WH) has been playing in Brazil, following standardized regulation, mainly aiming competitive events, As WH is a relatively recent sport and still has not its own classification system, this research aims to propose a functional classification system, setting out the criteria and standards to be used in accordance with the Classification Code and International Standards. This study was divided into two chapters: (I) "Classification in Paralympic Sports: a Literature Review" which is a systematic review of classification on Paralympic Sports, and; (II) "Classification for wheelchair handball", a chapter where the regulaments and policies to be adopted for the practice of WH were discussed and subdivided into these different topics: history of the WH classification; principles, purposes and components; class sport; sport class status; competitive eligibility; minimum score for eligibility criteria within court; physical evaluation; assessment of functional movements; court observation; athletes assessment; manual muscle testing ; scoring manual testing (upper limb, lower limb and trunk); characteristics of sports classes; classification procedures, protests, appeals, eligibility to become a classifier and classifier certification. Therefore, the current study tries to establish a guideline that might help the procedures for the WH functional classification system. / Mestrado / Atividade Fisica Adaptada / Mestra em Educação Física

The analysis was used to motivate the emotions being studied in objective two (2) examine the handball team during successful and less successful games in terms of the dynamics of the players’ emotions, concentration and performance between two halves of the game and after time-outs. Informants for objective 1, was the team coach and the team captain. Objective 2 of the study consisted of 15 women all playing in the same team. The study includes longitudinal data over a ten game period containing five successful and five less successful games. Data was collected after games using the ECPP(H) developed by Olausson and Vallmark-Jansson (2013). In-depth narrative interviews were used. Three analyses were made: (1) sjuzet- fabula, (2) holistic- content and (3) categorical-content analysis. Poetic representation was used to present parts of the results. The results showed shifts in the dynamics of performance, possible explanation to the shift of dynamics of emotions, concentration and performance and different types of leadership styles demonstrated throughout the season. Furthermore, similarities and diversities were found between the coach and captain’s perceptions of the season in focus. Finally, practical team-specific applications are suggested, such as working with emotional control in order to help the team enhance their performance.

Björk, Johan, Lagerqvist, Fredrik January 2017 (has links)
Background Knee injury within handball are well heard of. Female handball players have shown a greater risk developing long term knee injury. Injury to the knee is well investigated from incidence and also what kind of training is beneficial for preventing knee injury. However no studies have yet enlightened what experiences handball coaches possess in the area. Purpose The purpose of the study was to investigate and to survey what experiences regarding knee injury prevention training handball coaches’, coaching girls between the ages of 10- 19 years old possessed. Design and method A qualitative explorative design was used. Five semi-structured interviews based on a interview guide fort. A qualitative content analysis was used for data processing. Result The handball coaches looked at knee injury prevention as an important part of the overall training though there were variations in set up and content. A great deal of factors about injury prevention where mentioned, for example, resources, knowledge and motivation to participate in knee injury preventive exercises among the players. Conclusion Amongst the factors affecting the possibility for effective knee injury prevention training, motivation of young players was one of the most important ones. If coaches acquire education within the area`s behavior and motivation and how they affect each other it might lead to knee injury prevention being more effective.

Keclíková, Kateřina January 2013 (has links)
Titel: The relationship of chosen factors between the game performance and the length of an active action of women handball players Objectives: We have determined two purposes. The first goal was to detect the composition of players according to the career's lenght during the period 2000-2010, then we were interested in composition of players in teams which had regularly participated on every championships during the same period. The second one was to find out the influence of the cereer's lenght of regularly participating teams on chosen coefficinets of game performance. Methods: We used quantitative colection/summary which can be found on websides of each championship as a source. The lenght of career is defined by the repetitive number of starts. We used the corelation method to determine the influence of career's lenght on the chosen coefficinets of game performance. All the informations are prepared in Microsoft Excel and the results are transfered into graphs and numbers. Results: In our project we found out that women players are participating most often on 1 or 2 championships. The career's leght has only tiny influence on two coefficients of game performance. Specifically it was the number of catched balls and also the number of dropped balls. We found out little differences by analysing...
