Franck, Gláucia 16 March 2015 (has links)
This paper search is to demonstrate the reciprocal influence between art and technology in addition to the artifact through the use of color in obtaining the chromatic harmony and strengthening visual perceptual and cultural. We try to show how the art appropriates technology in obtaining harmony by using the color in the creative process. The art, to be mediated by technology, challenges the artist to oppose technological determinism that imposes results by standardization of the use of its gadgets, surpassing its limits in reinvention of their purposes. This work has as objective find the choices and the uses of color in the animation short films of Disney-Pixar’s as materialization of meanings in the construction of a narrative, highlighting the opposition between the relational context and instrumental of technology by overcoming its limits reinvented itself by using the color in order to reinforce the meanings offered by this narrative. Initially we will be presenting assumptions likely to find technology in their conceptual dimensions starting from the axis color that permeates throughout the work, the main focus will be on the concepts of the theory of color essential for to this understanding, and finally, armed with the theoretical framework, we will analyze the images and complete our survey. To carry out this research work in qualitative approach we performed the analysis of the images of the sample selected intentionally within specific criteria prioritizing images that suffered from the predetermined characteristics.

Un voyage inattendu : la réception de l'oeuvre de François Mauriac en Chine / An Unexpected Journey : the reception of François Mauriac's work in China

Zhan, Yi 09 February 2018 (has links)
From 1936 to the present day, François Mauriac's work has more than 80 years of history in China. In the eyes of the French, it is unexpected this long trip to China of Mauriac, classic writer, regionalist and even old-fashioned ... The present work is to draw a historical record of his reception in China through translation and academic study, highlight the characteristics of his trip to China in different periods, analyze his particular image attributed by Chinese readers, while seeking the causes in the literary, social and cultural, and finally highlight the place of François Mauriac and of his work in the history of French literature received in China.

Techniques avancées d'optimisation pour la résolution du problème de stockage de conteneurs dans un port / Advanced optimization techniques for solving the containers storage problem

Ayachi Hajjem, Imen 02 March 2012 (has links)
The loading and unloading of containers and their temporary storage in the container terminal are the most important and complex operation in seaport terminals. It is highly inter-related with the routing of yard crane and truck and their costs increased significantly especially without an efficient terminal management. To improve this process, an efficiency decision for the container storage space allocation must be taken. In this thesis, we studied the container storage problem (CSP). It falls into the category of NP hard and NP complete problems. CSP consists on finding the most suitable storage location for incoming containers that minimizes rehandling operations of containers during their transfer to the ship, truck or train. In fact, the wait time of customer trucks, the transfer time of yard crane and the Ship turnaround time are advantageously reduced.Generally, this problem is studied considering a single container type. However, this does not stand the problem under its real-life statement as there are multiple container types that should be considered, (refrigerated, open side, empty, dry, open top and tank). Often, containers arrive at the port dynamically over time and have an uncertain departure date (ship delayed, a ship down, delayed arrival of customer trucks…). Indeed, CSP must be studied in dynamic aspectThe objective of this thesis is to study Static CSP for a single and various container type and dynamic CSP for ONE and several container types and to propose solutions for each of them. Genetic algorithm and Harmony Search algorithm are used to solve these problems and we compare the results of each approach with the LIFO algorithm

FRANCISCO PEDRO C SANTANNA 21 March 2006 (has links)
The extraction of musical parameters from audio recordings enables a series of important applications in the field of musical analysis and classification. Harmony is a major issue on music structure, making the chord sequence of a musical piece an extremely relevant information on its analysis and a fundamental part of the musical graphic register. This work discusses the elements involved in musical harmony transcription as well as the mathematical and signal processing tools suitable to build an automatic method for the analysis and identification of chords, proposing a model capable of transcribing chord sequences from commercial audio recordings. The proposed system analyzes an audio signal and returns the symbols corresponding to the chords that best fit the signal.

Silva, Márcia Eliane da January 2012 (has links)
This work deals with the variable phenomenon of Vowel Harmony (Bisol, 1981) in the community of São José do Norte/RS, in Brazil, based on quantitative methodology along the lines of the the labovian variationist theory (Labov, 1966). The phenomenon is known as the raising of the mid vowels /e/ and /o/, in pretonic context, turning them into [i, u] when followed by a high vowel in subsequent syllable. The research aims to contribute to describe the characteristics of this phenomenon in Portuguese in Brazil, because it is not yet a sample analyzed with regard to vowel harmony The data comes from samples collected by Amaral (2000) with speakers of the rural and urban that district, located in the coastal portion between the Patos Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, 8 km from the of Rio Grande and 51 km from Pelotas. The isolation of the region was subjected, for reasons of difficulty of access, and dedication to traditional activities such as fishing and planting onions, make the region attractive for sociolinguistic research projects and dialetologic. The linguistic and extralinguistic conditioners considered in our research have had as reference the studies by Bisol (1981) and Schwindt (1995, 2002). The sample consisted of 24 informants selected from the interviews collected by Amaral (2002) which corpus is now part of the Projeto Variação Linguística do Sul (Project Language Variation in the South -VARSUL). The study resulted in a corpus of 1787 tokens, being 986 for /e/ and 801 for /o/. The analysis by GOLVARB 2001 Software showed that the rate of rising was of 41% for /e/, and of 43% for /o/. The analysis showed that, concerning extralinguistic conditions, there is correlation between rising and the age of the informant, but only for the raising of the vowel /o/; however, since other social variables where not observed to have a significant role in vowel raising, we are not able to state that there is an ongoing change. From the linguistic point of view, the main conditioners are a high vowel in subsequent syllable and stress on this high vowel.

Harmony, voice leading, and motive in Beethoven's last quartet

Britton, Jason Grant, 1972- 06 1900 (has links)
xiii, 188 p. A print copy of this thesis is available through the UO Libraries. Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / Beethoven's last five string quartets have engaged the imagination and curiosity of performers, listeners, and critics at a level that has rarely been touched in the world of chamber music, or beyond. Throughout the late quartets' history, musicians have scrutinized the works in search of a logic that might demystify their stylistic and structural peculiarities. This present study continues this pursuit as it examines analytically (through Schenkerian techniques) the harmonic, contrapuntal, and motivic procedures in Beethoven's last complete composition, the String Quartet in F major, op. 135. Most of the published analytical commentaries on the F major quartet approach the work more or less exclusively from a motivic standpoint. Arnold Schoenberg (1941), Rudolf Reti (1951), Deryck Cooke (1963), and Christopher Reynolds (1988) have all praised op. 135 for its highly unified motivic structure; what their studies show--at least in a general sense--is that there is undoubtedly a motivic strategy that ties much of op. 135 together. But what are we to do when the details of one motivic reading opposes another? Or what if a particular reading contradicts the way we understand a passage aurally (which happens often when the proposed reading is incongruous with the music's harmonic-contrapuntal structure)? What criteria should we use to evaluate a motivic analysis? Clearly, we need a set of principles and standards that will help answer these questions and advance us beyond mere intuition. The position taken in this study echoes John Rothgeb's argument that "proposed thematic relationships must bear scrutiny in the light of the Schenkerian theory of structural strata," and that incompatible readings should be "dismissed as spurious" (1983, 42). In the pages that follow, Schenkerian approach is adopted to help assess existing motivic readings of op. 135 within the requisite contexts of harmony and voice leading. The method is also used to help generate a rational, hearable analysis that reveals motivic relationships that reside at deeper, hidden levels of structure. / Adviser: Jack Boss

Egashira, Rafael 12 December 2011 (has links)
This study aimed to provide a photographic essay experienced by the author of this dissertation and driven by the theory of color. It was assumed that the color photograph is a double construction in the sense that both the photo and color are not neutral. To support this assumption, we introduced elements of the theory of photography that refute the automatic photographic apparatus and brought concepts of color theory that define the color perception as a phenomenon that involves understanding the physical, physiological and cultural features of color. In the chapter on color, we stil present the chromatic harmony, and its main tool, the schemes of color combinations. Such schemes have led to collect a set of photographs which were selected fifteen images to compose this dissertation. Finally, we comment on the presence of color in seven of fifteen photographs takenfor this research.

Vowel Harmony in Bale : A study of ATR harmony in a Surmic language of Ethiopia

Möller, Mirjam January 2009 (has links)
ATR, advanced tongue root, is a phonological feature among vowels. As vowels assimilate to share the same value of that feature, they display ATR harmony. This is a common phenomenon among many African languages. ATR harmony is examined in this paper as manifested across morpheme boundaries wihin nouns in a Surmic language of Ethiopia called Bale. The data presented was collected at a workshop on ATR harmony held by SIL International in Mizan Teferi, Ethiopia, 2009. The vowel system in Bale displays a nine vowel inventory with a feature dominance of [+ATR] vowels which spread their feature both leftward and rightward to recessive [–ATR] vowels. The [+ATR] dominance is also present as a floating feature without any phonological material. The vowel /a/ is analysed as a neutral vowel, co-occuring with both [+ATR] and [–ATR] vowels within roots.
