Dynamic Heuristic Analysis Tool for Detection of Unknown Malware

Sokol, Maciej, Ernstsson, Joakim January 2016 (has links)
Context: In today's society virus makers have a large set of obfuscation tools to avoid classic signature detection used by antivirus software. Therefore there is a need to identify new and obfuscated viruses in a better way. One option is to look at the behaviour of a program by executing the program in a virtual environment to determine if it is malicious or benign. This approach is called dynamic heuristic analysis. Objectives: In this study a new heuristic dynamic analysis tool for detecting unknown malware is proposed. The proposed implementation is evaluated against state-of-the-art in terms of accuracy. Methods: The proposed implementation uses Cuckoo sandbox to collect the behavior of a software and a decision tree to classify the software as either malicious or benign. In addition, the implementation contains several custom programs to handle the interaction between the components. Results: The experiment evaluating the implementation shows that an accuracy of 90% has been reached which is higher than 2 out of 3 state-of-the-art software. Conclusions: We conclude that an implementation using Cuckoo and decision tree works well for classifying malware and that the proposed implementation has a high accuracy that could be increased in the future by including more samples in the training set.

Analysing the digital marketing tool Digital Plattform : Identifying issues users are experiencing when using a digital marketing tool for the first time

Nyblom, Oscar January 2021 (has links)
Digital marketing is becoming more influential for businesses and along with it so does digital marketing tools. To make digital marketing tools useful for new users and businesses, they should be easy to use and allow for a good user experience. By analysing the digital marketing tool ‘Digital Plattform’ by Digital Marknadsplan, this study examines how to make design suggestions to improve user experience by using theories in interaction design and insights from user tests that highlights common issues. It turns out there are common issues that has been highlighted trough a heuristic analysis and a thematic analysis. Some issues include a lack of feedback and information along with general inconsistencies. By providing design suggestions to these issues, they could be targeted directly and therefore improving the user experience for new potential users. The results of this study could also be argued to be applicable to other digital marketing tools in improving their user experience for new users.

The interfaces of institutional sites must be based on usability principles, whose purpose is to ensure the security, efficient and effective information to audiences and their users. The theoretical principles of recommendations for site development have become widely available, but he implementation of them checked with specialized tools remain be fundamental to the achievement of effective usability. This study aimed to test the CMS tool (Content Management System) during the development of an institutional site of the Graduate Program in Design at the Universidade Estadual Paulista intended to improve its usability. The methodological procedures were characterized by five steps, starting by the review theory and following by laboratory applications and practices simulations, which were characterized by alternating stages of development testing, prototype development, and reanalysis, resulting in a final prototype. These results were considered satisfactory, because it was verified that the use of CMS tools in the development of institucional sites improved their levels of usability. However, the main contribution of this study is to acquire new knowledge resulting from experiments, as well as the increase in issued related to interface design, usability and ergonomic information, which collaborate effectively for the development of ergonomic design / Mestre

Wild (Re)turns: Tracking the Epistemological and Ecological Implications of Learning as an Initiatory Journey Toward True Vocation and Soul / Wild Returns: Tracking the Epistemological and Ecological Implications of Learning as an Initiatory Journey Toward True Vocation and Soul

Leighton, Hilary 10 September 2014 (has links)
Many people in Western culture experience systemic separation from an intimacy with the natural world and as a result, suffer a disconnection from their own natures. As an educator, my interest in the epistemological and ecological implications of nature-based, reflective learning as a form of initiation into maturity and calling led me to explore how education might create the conditions for consciously turning around the whole human with potential for turning around the whole world. Drawing from insights and wisdom from depth psychology, ecopsychology, mythology, philosophy, the poetic traditions, literature, spiritual practices, and curriculum studies, and by adopting Jung’s psychology of individuation as a theoretical backbone for this body of work, I sought to fully flesh out and discover how we might reclaim and embody our original human wholeness (our individuated natures), and how education might be a catalyst for this. I have organized this study in such a way as to align with three central themes found universally in all rites of passage and that mirror my own heuristic research journey, namely: the separation, the threshold experience, and the return. In the separation stage, I offer an historical perspective for much of Western culture’s current incongruence with nature. In addition, I provide a critique of how contemporary educational practices with their overt focus on profit-making and careerism further reinforce this dualistic thinking. As a counterbalance, at midpoint of this study, I set forth on my own deep phenomenological threshold-crossing immersions into nature. This research became, in effect, a (re)search of self where surprisingly more of my own calling was revealed to me through the hermeneutics of powerful, wild teachings. At the conclusion, as I (re)turn “from the woods”, my findings are shared (in part) as pedagogical examples of life-enhancing, less codified and embodied practices designed with the whole person—body, mind, and soul—(and earth), in mind that may support students (and teachers) in discovering their particular and deeply fulfilling ways of belonging to and contributing toward a living ecology. A symbolic artifact (a ‘body’ of work) accompanies and completes this work (Figure 3). / Graduate / 0727 / 0525 / 0534 / hilaryjl@telus.net

Oliveira, Thaís Prando 20 August 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-12-23T14:37:56Z (GMT). Conclui-se que o jogo Lig-4 mostrou-se adequado para a análise de Sistemas Cognitivos, fornecendo subsídios para trabalhos de avaliação e intervenção / This research has investigated, in a psychogenetic approach, childrens cognitive function aspects through a game of rules based on Piagets theory. Twenty-one children participated in this study, from both genders, ages varying from eight to twelve, from a public elementary school from Vitória ES. Data gathering occurred in three meeting per pair, utilizing the game lig-4 and a protocol containing questions and problem-situations. The first meeting was made in two phases: learning and game practice. The second one, in two moments, being one destined to game practice and, the other one, to the first assessment of heuristic analysis level. On the third meeting there were more game practice and the second assessment on heuristic analysis level. Data was analyzed using heuristic analysis levels formulated in relation to Cognitive Systems I and II proposed by Piaget. Among the results, it was verified that the situation destined to the first assessment and game practice expansion did not offer an expressive improvement on heuristic analysis level in the participants from both ages on the second assessment. However, comparing both participants performances, it was stated that the twelve-year-olds performances was superior than the eight-year-olds , taking in consideration that on Cognitive System I they ve achieved more complex levels than on Cognitive System II. It was concluded that, the game lig-4 was adequate to analyze Cognitive Systems, providing resources for evaluation and intervention jobs
