3D analýza okamžitého vlivu vložek do bot s posturální pelotou dle Raševa a s proceptory PodoAktiv na posturu. / 3D analysis of immediate effect on posture of shoe with postural insoles based on Rašev and with proceptor insoles PodoAktivKoukalová, Martina January 2017 (has links)
Title: 3D analysis of immediate effect on posture of shoe with postural insoles based on Rašev and with proceptor insoles PodoAktiv® Objectives: The thesis aims to show the immediate effect of application of custom-made insole on postural hold of chosen body segments and we would like to determine whether it is possible to use PodoAktiv® or insole based on Rašev to correct body posture. Methodology: In this thesis we examined 9 participants who agreed joining the study. We used the Balance®4D device made by Paromed company. The selected body segments were marked by white spheric stickers. To compare postural hold of selected body segments we examined the participants in altogether 4 situations. Barefoot stand, stand in shoes without insoles, stand in shoes with postural insoles based on Rašev and stand in shoes with proceptor insoles PodoAktiv®. Results: The results of this study show that there is a slight immeadiate effect of the custom- made insoles on postural hold of body segments. Larger effect was observed in the participants who already had a bad postural barefoot hold. Of all 6 parameters, the biggest effect was observed in the shift of overall body axis after application of PodoAktiv® insoles. Keywords: Shoe insoles, proprioceptors, somatosensory system, 3D static analysis, postural hold

Analytical Methodology to Predict the Behaviour of Multi-Panel CLT Shearwalls Subjected to Lateral LoadsNolet, Vincent January 2017 (has links)
The increasing demand for more sustainable construction has led to the development of new structural systems that include wood as building material. Cross laminated timber (CLT) has been identified as a potential system to address this need and to provide alternative options in the range of low- to medium-rise construction. The appeal in using CLT as a shearwall is driven by the combination of the rigid panels and small dimension fasteners, which allows for significant energy dissipation in the structure. However, there is currently no reliable analytical model to accurately predict the behaviour of multi-segment CLT shearwalls.
The current study aims to develop an analytical model capable of predicting the elastic and plastic phases associated with the behaviour of multi-panel CLT shearwalls. The model describes the wall behaviour as a function of the connectors’ properties in terms of stiffness, strength and ductility. This dependency means that the only input required in the model is the behavioural parameters of the connections. The proposed model contains six cases with a total of 36 different failure mechanisms. Two final wall behaviours were developed, and it was found that behaviour (i.e. single wall) could be achieved if the yielding in the hold-down occurred prior to yielding in the panel joints. Inversely, the other behaviour (i.e. coupled panels) was achieved if the yielding in the vertical joint occur prior to yielding in the hold-down. The analytical model was validated using a numerical model, and the results of the comparison showed very close match between the two models.
The study proposed simplified design provisions with the aim to optimize the walls ductility (CP behaviour) or strength and stiffness (SW behaviour).

Effects of extended intervention conditions on levels of physical activity exhibited by young childrenKristjansdottir Oveny, Ingunn 01 January 2019 (has links)
Physical activity is an important health-related behavior, and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that children engage in at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous-physical activity (MVPA) daily (CDC, 2015). However, worldwide, many children do not reach those requirements and health problems associated with physical inactivity are becoming more prevalent (CDC, 2015; World Health Organization [WHO], 2016). Recently, a few studies have conducted an intervention analysis to evaluate implications for function-based interventions to increase physical activity (Larson, Normand, Morley, & Miller, 2014; Zerger, Normand, Boga, & Patel, 2016). However, intervention analyses, indicate an overall decrease in levels of MVPA. This limitation could hinder further improvements of function-based interventions to increase physical activity, and is thus important to investigate. The current study partially replicated Zerger et al. (2016), and investigated the effects of alternating FA test conditions and repeated presentation of single condition exposure on maintenance of levels of MVPA in children. Additionally, the current study also evaluated the effectiveness of a more intermittent contingent schedules of reinforcement (i.e., fixed-interval limited-hold schedule) during intervention conditions. Results suggest it might be beneficial for caretakers and parents to deliver reinforcement in the form of social reinforcement to increase MVPA in preschool children. Additionally, the data suggest to promote MVPA, a more intermittent schedule of contingent social reinforcement does not reliably promote stable levels of MVPA.

Trustee's accountability / Marius Garnett PrestonPreston, Marius Garnett January 2014 (has links)
The trustee has a fiduciary responsibility towards the parties with an interest in the trust.
The parties with an interest in the trust may have certain expectations and requirements of the trustee. The main responsibility and accountability ascribed to and expected of the trustee are for the proper maintenance and administration of the trust and its assets.
The parties with an interest in the trust may be classified according to how closely involved or affected they are by the existence of the trust. The parties closest to the trust are listed as the founder, beneficiaries and co-trustees. Parties with a judiciary, legislative and administrative interest in the trust include the Master of the High Court, the High Court and the auditors as well as accountants of the trust.
The parties with an interest in the trust may not be satisfied with the actions or performance of the trustee. These parties may seek actions and remedies to hold the trustee accountable. These actions and remedies may be found in legislation, the literature, common law or court judgements. It would also be in the trustee’s interest to be informed of the different actions and remedies that could be utilised to hold him accountable.
Different types of action are available to hold the trustee accountable, including civil and criminal remedies. The Trust Property Control Act 57 of 1988 does not provide for criminal remedies, but provides an array of civil remedies to hold trustees accountable. The Aquilian action is also available to parties to hold a trustee accountable who committed a breach of trust.
The focus of the mini-dissertation is to determine the landscape of remedies and actions available to parties with an interest in the trust in order to hold the trustee accountable. / LLM (Estate Law), North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2015

Previous issue date: 2011-07-06 / Urban violence is currently a complex and worrying issue so much so that
national and international organizations have been calling for studies in its various
aspects. This research was developed with a focus on the impact of urban violence on
the health and illness of its victims, based on an overriding concern: explaining and
clarifying the meaning and significance of the experience of those who suffered urban
violence, such as hold-up and/or express kidnapping.
The methodology was based on the existential-phenomenological thinking, in
particular Martin Heidegger s, who understands human existence as being-there and
being-in-the-world, seeking to understand the experience of victims of urban violence in
its entirety. The methods used included interviews with three participants and focal
psychotherapy with one with 23 sessions of 50 minutes each. The participants were two
men and one woman, all married, and aged between 48 to 53 years. The analysis of the
results was organized along two axes: thematic and temporal.
The results suggest that the victims of hold-up or express kidnapping show
significant distress, when the experience of violence remains trapped in the sense of
risk, threat and danger. The impact of violence can also affect the understanding of
oneself, of others and the world with the sudden approach of the dimensions of
unpredictability, precariousness and vulnerability resulting from a situation of violence.
The discussion of the results is extended to possible applications in the Public Health
Service. Topics for future research that articulate Clinical Psychology and urban
violence are also listed.

This study makes a theoretical and empirical analysis of the processes of bidding and contracting works and reforms of public buildings in a Federal Public University, using Asymmetric Information Theory and Contracts. The period analyzed was between 2010 and 2013, at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, being that 127 bidding processes and contracts were analyzed. The analyses revealed several occurrences in tenders and hiring of work and restoration. In the bidding phase, prior to hiring (ex ante), the bidding session for work and renovations, in some cases, was deserted. There were several requests for deadline extension, and economic-financial adjustment in the work and restoration hiring and execution (ex post), while in the inspection of work and restoration it could be noticed 31 occurrences in services finalized by the contractors. The results also indicated that, of the total number of processes analyzed in the period 2010-2013, about 30% either have not been completed or are suspended, which shows deficiencies in the supervision and management of the contracts. In addition, the average time between the opening of the process and the conclusion of services is about three years, and much of this time was spent with internal procedures of UFRGS. These facts indicate problems of adverse selection and information asymmetry , in addition to the "Hold up problem", in which the Principal is taken hostage by the Agent besides the problem of Moral Hazard, when the Agent begins to act inappropriately or in a way which is disapproved by the Principal, together with the incidence of transaction costs.
