Modelo de simulação para dimensionamento da frota de contêineres movimentada por navios em rota dedicada. / Simulation model for sizing of the fleet of containers moved by ships in dedicated route.

Ferreira Netto, João 04 September 2012 (has links)
Shipping companies operating with container transportation have the challenge of allocating an amount of ships with specific features (including transport capacity and speed), in determined route, and attend the demand in a given period. For such, it is also necessary to make a container fleet available to the customers, which will be removed in the empty warehouse, loaded in the origins and sent to ports to be transported by the ships, in closed cycle, to other terminals that compose the route, according to the loading matrix of each ship. This work presents a simulation model to dimension the quantity of containers required to operate with a ship fleet that attends determined route (in closed loop) and at the same time considers the loading operations and emptying of containers with customers, on land. It is presented a process of searching for better solutions provides results that minimize the container fleet at its disposal The main parameters studied are: retention time of containers with clients (either for loading or unloading operations), initial container stocks in ports and repositioning of empty containers between the terminals that compose the route. The results showed that the simulation technique applied to this problem allowed the proposed dimensioning, in addition to assessing the sensitivity of the system in relation to these key parameters.

Modelování komunikačního řetězce / Communication link modeling

Škára, Michal January 2008 (has links)
This Master’s thesis subject is communication link modeling, what means exploring and subsequent connect of blocks QPSK modulator – raised cosine filter – quadrature modulator – nonlinear amplifier – quadrature demodulator – raised cosine filter – QPSK detector. All work proceeded in simulation world VisSim 6.0, manual of this software is opened in this thesis. Individual blocks are analyzed in this scheme including description and configuration. Main theme was exploring error rate of transmission in modulator imbalance, using nonlinear amplifier TWTA or in calculations in fixed and floating point. Theoretically is examined and practically implanted method of modulator imbalance compensation. Circuits with QPSK and 16QAM modulator were analyzed. Circuits are filled in with transparent tables and graphs. In the end of this thesis is applied to generating of source codes in C language by the help of upgrade C-Code, which can be useful in practical realization on DSP.

Techniques for low-cost spectrum analysis on quadrature demodulation architectures

Fredlund, Brendon Jeremy 08 July 2010
The Decimator, an SED Systems Ltd. product, is a PCI slot card that performs both time and frequency domain measurements of given input signals. It is essentially a more economical version of a bench spectrum analyzer or oscilloscope, with a PC interface. Several issues limit the speed and accuracy of the results of the Decimator, and the study of these issues is the focus of this thesis. These issues, including but not limited to, are as follows: 1) Imbalances between the received In-phase and Quadrature-phase channels; 2) The FFT and Windowing functions are performed by a microcontroller, but it is desired that they be migrated to an FPGA. While solutions to improve the first issue is being implemented and verified, the second issue is not one of simply reducing a source of error. The second issue requires a cost-benefit analysis on the migration of these signal processing algorithms from an ARM microcontroller to a Xilinx FPGA.

Syria: a state of imbalance and war : A case study of the civil war in Syria

Bohman, Viking January 2016 (has links)
This paper attempts to answer the question of why the war in Syria has been particularly long and violent. To do this, it draws upon the explanatory value of Benjamin Miller’s theory of regional war and peace (2007). The main claim here is that state weakness, a mismatch be- tween state boundaries and national identities, and great power competition in the area can explain why the war has been particularly long and violent. The study concludes that the fol- lowing major factors and their interacting effects have had a major role in protracting and ex- acerbating the war: weak Syrian nationalism; extreme Islamism; weakness of the Syrian state; competition between the West and Russia; and to a lesser extent, Kurdish presence and acts of relative disengagement by the United States.

Využití kompenzačních cvičení v tenisovém tréninkovém procesu / The use of compensatory exercises in sports training process

Gerhardt, Jan January 2015 (has links)
Title: The use of compensatory exercises in sports training process Goals: The aim of this work was to verify the influence of compensatory exercises for treatment of muscle imbalance in a selected group of tennis players. Method: During the research we used Janda' s (2004) functional spine tests and muscle tests, that were applied to selected group of three tennis players. The set of compensatory exercises was designed on the basis of the results of the admission testing. The players were asked to follow this set of exercises with regularly for the period of three months. The selected individuals underwent output testing at the end of the exercise programme. We compared the results of the admission and output testing for the evaluation of the influence of the compensatory exercises of the musculo-skeletal system on the selected subjects. Results: The results that are presented in charts and graphs evaluate the influence of the compensatory ecercises of the musculo-skeletal system on the selected subjects. The results prove that due to regular performance of compensatory exercises we can expect a reduction of muscle shortening and weakening. The muscle shortening in knee flexors and strengthening of the blade muscles occurred at the first of three selected subjects. The second subject' s measured...

Efekt kompenzačních cvičení na hráčky florbalu - kategorie ženy extraliga / Efect of compensatory exercises on female floorball players - category women, Czech top league

Šimáčková, Olga January 2014 (has links)
Title: Efect of compensatory exercises on female floorball players - category women, Czech top league Objectives: Diagnose muscles with a tendency to shorten and weaken and take the basic anthropometric parameters of female floorball players. Build a stack of exercises focusing on problem areas that are not difficult to perform and don't require correction of another person. Methods: A case study in which we watched the female floorball players aged 18-32 years. Diagnose of shortened and weakened muscles was performed according to Janda muscle function test, method pretest - posttest. The measured values from pretest were compared with posttest values. In the meantime the intervention program (form of compensatory exercises) was applied on female floorball players. Results: 70% of the players were identified estimated muscle imbalances that arise from the nature of this sport. It has been shown that two months of exercise can positively affect shortened and weakened muscle. The change of the degree of "short" to "unshorted" occurred in 41% of muscles. Key words: floorball, compensatory exercises, muscle imbalance

Cyclical Economic Impacts on Aggregated Fiscal Imbalance Levels in the United States

Merriman, Douglas Arthur 01 January 2015 (has links)
Cyclical Economic Impacts on Aggregated Fiscal Imbalance Levels in the United States by Douglas A. Merriman MSM, University of Maryland University College, 2004 BS, Central Washington University, 1983 Dissertation Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Applied Management and Decision Science Walden University July 2015 The impacts of cyclical economic volatility on state-level fiscal imbalance levels have gained attention, given that beginning in late 2007, the United States experienced the deepest and longest-lasting recession in its history. The problem addressed by this study was whether there was a statistically significant relationship between certain economic factors and fluctuations in state-level fiscal imbalance levels in the U.S. during the period 2000 to 2010. The purpose of this study was to evaluate relationships between certain economic factors and state-level fiscal imbalance levels in the 48 contiguous U.S. states, and to assess how the presence and relational strength of these relationships varied during an economic cycle. Musgrave's theory of public economy, Oates's fiscal federalism theory, and Buchanan's fiscal imbalance theory served as the theoretical foundation. This longitudinal, time-series-cross-sectional study used multiple linear regressions to assess the relationships between the federal agency-provided datasets of unemployment, age, per capita income, poverty, entrepreneurial activity, gross state product, and the levels of fiscal imbalances in the 48 contiguous U.S. states during the period of 2000 to 2010. The study results provided evidence that the set of independent variables explained a significant amount of the overall fluctuation in fiscal imbalance levels from 2000 to 2010, and that the independent variables of unemployment rate, percent of population under the federal poverty level, and gross state product were related to fiscal imbalance levels with varying degrees of statistical significance and strength from one year to the next. The implication of the study for social change is that policy makers who understand these relationships may construct better policies to mitigate fiscal imbalance volatility and to encourage state-level fiscal equivalence across the United States.
