Hsu, Yi-Ting 16 October 2012 (has links)
Convenience and price are the main considerations of the consumers on internet shopping. "Group buying" is a consumption pattern emerging in recent years; it can be used in many places and has become a mainstream. The consumer now through the ¡§group buying¡¨ to reduce their living expenses. The earlier group buying was focus on the products of foods, and physical goods. But through the development of internet, the new internet group buying has been different. It¡¦s not only focused on the foods and physical goods, but also includes all kind of entertainment (cosmetology, outdoor events¡Ketc.). In this study, we regarded the consumers who were ever participated in the new online group shopping as our main target. Through this research, we can understand the consumer¡¦s lifestyle, personality and involvement of new online group shopping. It also can provide a direction for online shopping industry in the future.

Investigation of broadband over power line channel capacity of shipboard power system cables for ship communications networks

Akinnikawe, Ayorinde 15 May 2009 (has links)
Broadband over Power Line (BPL) technology has garnered significant attention lately due to recent advancements in solid state technologies and channel coding schemes. The successful application of BPL technology for in-home automation and networking has led to suggestions of applying BPL in other systems including ships. The application of BPL technology using the Shipboard Power System (SPS) as a potential communications network for ship automation systems has been proposed, to achieve recent U.S. Navy ship management concepts geared toward reducing ship manning while improving operational efficiency. This thesis presents an analytical model developed to examine the channel response characteristics and estimated throughput capacity of SPS cables. The work used a multiconductor transmission line theory based approach to model the channel response of SPS distribution lines and estimated the channel throughput capacity using a “water-filling” communication technique. This work found that BPL using the SPS holds a strong potential for use as a communications network for ship communication systems.

Study on Two Optimization Problems: Line Cover and Maximum Genus Embedding

Cao, Cheng 2012 May 1900 (has links)
In this thesis, we study two optimization problems which have a lot of important applications in diverse domains: Line Cover Problem (LCP) in Computational Geometry and Maximum Genus Embedding (MGE) in Topological Graph Theory. We study LCP whose decision version is known NP-Complete from the perspective of Parameterized Complexity, as well as classical techniques in Algorithm Design. In particular, we provide an exact algorithm in time O(n^3 2n) based on Dynamic Programming and initiate a dual problem of LCP in terms of Linear Programming Duality. We study the dual problem by applying approximation and kernelization, obtaining an approximation algorithm with ratio k - 1 and a kernel of size O(k^4). Then we survey related geometric properties on LCP. Finally we propose a Parameterized Algorithm to solve LCP with running time O*(k^k/1:35^k). We explore connections between the maximum genus of a graph and its cycle space consisting of fundamental cycles only. We revisit a known incorrect approach of finding a maximum genus embedding via computing a maximum pairing of intersected fundamental cycles with respect to an arbitrary spanning tree. We investigate the reason it failed and conclude it confused the concept of deficiency. Also, we characterize the upper-embeddablity of a graph in terms of maximum pairings of intersected fundamental cycles, i.e. a graph is upper-embeddable if and only if the number of maximum pairings of intersected fundamental cycles for any spanning tree is the same. Finally, we present a lower and an upper bound of the maximum number of vertex-disjoint cycles in a general graph, beta(G) - 2gammaM(G) and beta(G) - gammaM(G), only depending on maximum genus and cycle rank.

A Methodology for Designing Flexible Report for On-Line Analytical Processing

Hsia, Tse-Chih 27 January 2004 (has links)
Due to the increasing global competition in today¡¦s business environment, current Transaction Processing Systems and Management Information Systems can no longer satisfy the enterprise¡¦s needs. Mangers need to analyze data from different views to recognizing business status, making decisions, and setting up the policies. To support such works, many information systems and technologies are developed including Decision Support Systems, Executive Information Systems, data warehouses, and On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP). The implementation of OLAP and data warehousing project are expensive and risky. The results of implementing OLAP and data warehousing in most of the organizations do not, however, always prove a success. The common problem occurs in the requirement analysis phase when analyzing the dimensions and hierarchical relationships for OLAP. The user requirement can not be defined completely and the developers often need to modify or reconstruct the dimensions and hierarchical relationships to meet the user¡¦s changing needs. This is an enormous burden to the system developers. Although many tools with OLAP provide the flexibility for user creating analytical reports by using predefined dimensions and hierarchical relationships. However, a methodology for designing flexible report for OLAP to support ad hoc analysis is still lacking. This study proposes a methodology that is developed for designing flexible report for OLAP, which presents the dimensions and hierarchical relationships by visualized meta-templates and templates to help users create analysis reports. The methodology provides the flexibility not only in representing dimensions and hierarchical relationships for OLAP, but also in producing flexible reports. With such flexibility, the users can create analytical reports to support ad hoc analysis by choosing appropriated meta-template and template easily.

The influence of web design elements on webpage usage

Wong, Kang-jung 19 January 2005 (has links)
This research uses two approaches, Kansei Engineering Modeling and Usability, to discuss how different web design elements of on-line radio influence the feelings and the usage of the web. This research also uses multidimensional method to demonstrate the relative relationship of the virtual websites built for this research, in order to understand the feelings and usage of the web sites in the unit of the whole website. In the discussion of Kansei Engineering, ¡§clear¡¨, ¡§neat¡¨ and ¡§friendly¡¨ feelings were found in the websites with menu in the top and the left side of the webpage. As for listen-on-line icon, it is better that the icon stands outside the menu. In the perceptual map, which discusses the websites in whole, indicates the obviousness of the listen-on-line icon separate the 8 websites into two, meaning it¡¦s a good discriminant of online radio websites. In the discussion of usability, ¡§activity and concert information¡¨ and ¡§the name of the song and the artist playing¡¨ are positive to the increment of learnability, efficiency, design quality, listening contentment, content variety and satisfaction as a whole. Independent listening window is positive to the increment of learnability and efficiency. The perceptual map of the 8 websites of the usability study, ¡§activity and concert information¡¨ and ¡§the name of the song and the artist playing¡¨ are the most important discriminant, which can be used to increase the usability of on-line radio websites. The findings of the research are only true under the circumstances that the assumption of linearity is being proved. Following research can try other statistical method in order to get results that are more accurate.

The Obstacles of Online Payment Services of Electronic Government in Taiwan

Lee, Tong-syuan 02 August 2005 (has links)
As the high-speed development and the universal application of the Information Technology and the Internet, the main countries in the world are all very zealous to construct their own ¡§Electronic Government¡¨ to promote the national competition ability. However, the most important electronic service--the G2C service, which is ¡§customer-centric¡¨ oriented, must deal with the on-line financial problems between the government and the public inevitably. Although the development of our Electronic Government is toward the final period¡X ¡§the complete integration¡¨ little by little, it is still in the last period¡X¡§transaction¡¨ in fact. That¡¦s because the on-line payment services arent¡¦ popular in full scale. This research is based on the internal users¡¦ point of view. Besides, it takes three approaches to realize and analyze the obstacles of introducing on-line payment services in Taiwan, including literature review, questionnaires distributed via post mail, and interview. According to the results of the research, disharmonies of the members, resistance of the change, the low participation of the users, and the lacking of perceived usefulness are main obstacles to execute the on-line payment services of Electronic Government in Taiwan.

How human resource managers and line managers can improve or corporate with each other to enhance working motivation factors of employees

Chang, An-Chi 01 June 2006 (has links)
There are substantially researches talking about departments with various functions inside companies also external connections with different parties outside. No matter researching which perspective, employees are consistently playing a key role. Regarding to a company, there are some people with more or less specific knowledge backgrounds to be unified. In today¡¦s business world, knowledge apparently becomes a surviving tool. It is the reason that ¡§knowledge economics¡¨ was created and develop theories in ¡§knowledge management¡¨ field. As far as managers concerned, employees are a group of people inside the company who should be paid attention to not merely on skin deep level. By means of having further sensitivity to motivation factors of employees, a lot of helpful methods can be found for win-win solutions. If companies expect employees with motivations, the initiative is to figure out how to let employees really make themselves ¡§motivated on jobs¡¨ instead of banking on only money matters. It is no doubt that line managers and HR managers should spend time working on this issue since one of the objectives to be managers is to manage people under authorities. This thesis would be practically valuable for managers on supplement by interview results because line managers, human resource managers and employees have extremely close relationships for organization¡¦s brighter future. Key Words: motivation factor, line manager, human resource manager

A study on differences of interview questions asked between line managers and HR people

Chen, Tzu-wen 17 August 2006 (has links)
Interview is the most frequently-used method of selection in present enterprises. In order to select suitable employees, there will be at least two phases of interviews in which both of line managers and hr specialists are interviewers. There is no existing literature discussing about the differences between their behaviors during interviews. This study is mainly focused on those differences between interview questions asked by line managers and hr specialists in a cooperative interview. Besides, this study also analyses relevant factors which have impacts on effectiveness of interviews and corporation. This study uses dyadic questionnaires to collect empirical data and the author selects both line managers and hr specialists to answer the dyadic questionnaires. To increase validity of data, there is a limitation on the process of sample selection. Only those line managers from manufacture department or business divisions which are the major profit resource in enterprises can answer the questionnaires. 180 dyadic questionnaires were sent, and 114 valid questionnaires were responded. The valid response rate was 63.33%. Using independent-sample T test, one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA, the results are shown as below, 1.The effectiveness of interviews is irrelevant to interview training, interview period and interview check list. 2.There is no difference between interview questions asked by line managers and hr specialists. 3.There is no significant influence on interview questions between line managers and hr specialists by interview training, interviewer¡¦s interview experience and method of interview cooperation. 4.The effectiveness of cooperation is not influenced by interview training and interviewers¡¦ interview experiences either.

Research of Strategies for Making Products Luxurious

Wu, Chun-Hsien 30 June 2007 (has links)
This research is to understand the business strategy of making products luxurious. Owing to more and more serious poverty gaps in our social and economic environment, ¡§M¡¨ type society becomes an important issue for everyone. ¡§M¡¨ type society makes the rich people being richer and the poor people being poorer,. This phenomenon will affect consumer behaviors and whole market environment. According to the study of AC Nielson¡]2006¡^, more than 50% people in Taiwan tend to save more money in daily life for buying more their favorites or luxury goods instead. In this situation, companies should take special strategies to face this challenging new impact in the market. Therefore, the strategy of making products luxurious is one of best choices to try. For solving this situation, many companies have made their products luxurious successfully such as Acer (Ferrari notebook products), Toyota (Lexus automobile), and Giant (bike). These firms develop from middle market position to high market position, and make their product price more expensive, more high quality and more luxurious. Furthermore, their luxury products sold successfully in their target segments. All these cases are successful examples showing the effects of strategy of making products luxurious, accordingly this research sort out the precise strategies and methods through these successful case studies. Through using multiple cases study method, this research discusses the practicable ways to do the strategy of making products luxurious. Moreover, this research also goes through the conceptions of product positioning, the definition of luxury, product strategy, product line extended to build the conceptual model for this study. In the end, this research has integrated the some results. The key factor of the strategy of making products luxurious is offering high quality than the same type products. Next, the brand is the second important factor, a firm that make this strategy successfully must has a good brand image, not a ¡§luxury brand¡¨ image. Customers can get the good experience through products quality and performance. Therefore combining these results the research concludes that the products quality and performances are the core factors of the strategy of making products luxurious.

Huang, Ji-Yao 09 July 2003 (has links)
In this essay, we developed an environmental immunity of multiplexed In-line sagnac interferometric fiber-optic current sensing system. The multiplexedwas used the time-division technique, were proposed to meet this research objective. The theoretical inference and experimental results were presented. The experimental results the system have sensitivity 56£gV/A¡Eturns, and the signal to noise ratio is 70dB. Besides, the multiplexed sensed two current in the same time, those two responses are still linearity. The uniform of these multiplex sensed are less than 2%. The system is hysteresis-free operator, no saturation limit. These features are suit for fiber-optic current sensor in measuring large range variable current. The current waveform can be read directly. In this research, the result let the fiber-optic current sensor approach to application on industrial power delivery line and monitor more current by this system.
