Indie Games are addressed as cultural artifacts produced by individuals or groups interested in expressing themselves with originality and creativity by an interactive medium that allows trials in graphic and narrative language. The aim was to explore the projective practices adopted by these producers , from an experiment that went through the stages of creation, production and publication of a game with the use of internet technologies and computer graphics. The proposed summary contains 4 chapters , starting with an investigation of how the Creative Economy and new forms of production leveraged indie culture, following with the current role of video games and the relationships within this industry, through the stages of game design that then are used as instruments for understanding the design practice, and finally , the experience involving design , development and distribution of an independent video game / Esta dissertação de mestrado na área de Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Design investiga as práticas projetuais envolvidas na produção de videogames independentes.

Grand army of the republic or grand army of the Republicans?: political party and ideological preferences of American enlisted personnel

Inbody, Donald Stephen 02 November 2009 (has links)
While much research has been conducted into the political behavior and attitudes of American military officers, little has been accomplished with respect to enlisted personnel. Most reports assume that the American military identify largely with the Republican Party and are mostly conservative in attitude. The most recent large-scale study, the TISS Survey on the Military in the Post Cold War Era conducted by Feaver and Kohn in 1998-1999, confirmed those assumptions among senior officers and is often quoted as representative of the entire military. However, the demographic characteristics of enlisted personnel predict different behavior. The enlisted ranks of the American military are over-represented by minorities who traditionally identify with the Democratic Party. The present study gathered data on enlisted personnel, by means of a survey, to determine whether that specialized population is significantly different in attitude and behavior from that of the officer corps and of the general American population. Enlisted personnel identify with the Republican Party in about the same proportion as do the general American population. However, only about half as many enlisted personnel identify with the Democratic Party as do civilians. Enlisted personnel are also about three times more likely to identify as Independents as do other Americans. Active-duty enlisted personnel demonstrate a 1.7 to 1 partisan (Republican to Democrat) ratio, similar to that found in the veteran enlisted sample (1.8 to 1) and the officer sample (1.6 to 1). The civilian sample shows a .95 to 1 partisan ratio. Thus, active-duty enlisted personnel who identify with a political party are about twice as likely to identify with the Republican Party as are civilians. However, active-duty enlisted personnel are nearly four times as likely as civilians to report being Independent, and are substantially less likely than civilians to identify with the Democratic Party. The Republican to Democrat ratio may well explain the commentary about and observations of a Republican dominated military. Despite the fact that the overall proportion of Republicans within the military is no greater than that found within the general population, that there are twice as many individuals who will state that they are Republicans as those who will state that they are Democrats can easily give the impression of a heavily Republican population. However, active-duty enlisted personnel remain strongly independent when compared to the civilian population. Of special note is a markedly higher political efficacy among military enlisted personnel than is found within the general American population. / text

Sociologické a teologické příčiny vzniku Církve víry / Sociological and Theological Causes of Formation of the Faith Church

Halasová, Tereza January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of my thesis is to analyse sociological and theological reasons for formation of the Faith Church and also clarify the doctrinal difference from The Christian Fellowship Church in the Czech Republic. This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter presents the general characteristics of The Pentecostal movement and classifies The Christian Fellowship Church in the Czech Republic and The Church of Faith as a specific christian stream and movement. The second chapter focuses on historical context and circumstances in which The Church of Faith emerges and describes the ground for departure of this part of the church from their original organization Christian Fellowship Church in the Czech Republic. The next chapter deals with specific theological base of The Church of Faith, especially in the field of ecclesiology and namely perception of the authority in the church, demonology and anthropology, the importance of healing in the context of soteriology and characteristic concept of eschatology. The fourth chapter deals with the state registration process of the Christian Fellowship Church in the Slovak republic which gave the way to the start of the Church of Faith. It also deals with the difference between legal position of the new religious movements in the Czech and Slovak society.

Was created some special entities with autonomous functional in relation to Central Government. Examining the reason and the form adopted for the management of the regulatory authorities are structured in Brazil in the wake of an attempt to reform the administrative organization in the form of management, we intend to analyze whether this path should be followed, even though part to other state sectors. The present analysis involves the redefinition of the division of tasks and responsibilities between 'Government entities' and public entities whose mission requires continuity ('State entities'), especially in cases of alternation of power. It is intended to contribute to the structuring of organizations dedicated to the development of government policies.

Jasmin, Guillaume 04 1900 (has links)
Conclusion. / Objectives. This thesis has two objectives. The first objective is divided in two: objective 1A is to evaluate and extend the descriptive analysis of account settlement trends started by Cordeau in his doctoral thesis of 1991. This will be done so as to compare his dataset to ours and see if any significant differences emerge; Objective 1B is to look into the construction and use of alternative account settlement rates to see which one allow us to be better capture the dynamics (ebbs and flows, general tendencies) of this particular subset of homicides. Our final objective is to use social network analysis to confirm and highlight certain findings that will come about through the descriptive analysis. The use of social network analysis will also allow us to analyze the social structure of account settlements in Quebec between 1953 and 2013. Methodology. Using datasets compiled from Allô Police and other media sources, our approach is a holistic one that seeks to incorporate descriptive statistical analysis, cross-tabulation, trend analysis and social network analysis so as to properly frame and study account settlement patterns and trends. Results. There are four main results in our study: 1) most of the trends found by Cordeau in his account settlement dataset (1970-1986) are also present within our dataset (1953-2013). There are, thus, few important variations between the two datasets; 2) compared to a general population rate, alternative rates based on the prison population or the larger criminal populations do not add to our understanding of the phenomena. However, the use of rates proposed by Morselli et al (2008) do allow for a clearer picture of unusual periods of activity within the criminal milieu; 3) criminal groups that are more exposed to violence tend to be the groups that resort to violence the most; 4) independent operators form a majority of our account settlement victim dataset and this would seem to indicate the importance of their role in organized crime. Conclusion. Our results illustrate the need for better integration of different methodologies and theories to properly analyze and understand account settlement trends. With the multiple avenues of research identified at the end of this thesis, we hope that future research can make use of theoretical and methodological integration to build a more complete picture of account settlement trends.
