Theoretical part follow up possibilities of a teacher in self-education of students with Czech as a second language problematic as well as preparation for entry to class for students with Czech as a second language and their teachers as their mission should be to create welcoming climate in the class. I also describe the key terms in field of students with Czech as a second language in Czech Republic and Finland as well. In the practical part I prepare questionnaires for teachers with the goal to identify the level of awareness on this issue, which I deepen via subsequent interviews with selected teachers. Based on personal experience from an internship in Finland than the findings from interviews and study of available literature to prepare a workshop for teachers. I would also like to prepare a variety of examples of good practice and inspiration for teachers. Abstract The diploma thesis fucuses on the paintings by Hendrick van Balen (1575-1632), which are found in Czech collections. The main point of this thesis is a figurative stint in cabinet painting, which was the domain of the Antwerp painter Hendrick van Balen. there will be also hightlighted Hendrick van Balen's collaboration with Jan Brueghel Older, who became a part of his work as the author of still life and nature in Balen's paintings. On specific works from the Czech collections will by pointed out the possible inspiration in the figures of rudolfinian masters Hans von Aachen and Josef Heintz and parallels in their work, and the influence on the cabinet painting of the 18th century painters, Johan Georg Platzer (1704-1761) and his follower Franz Christophr Jannecka (1703-1761). Muschel-inspirierte Polymerisation: Synthetische Bioadhäsive für wasserbasierte Klebstoffe und meerwasserresistente Beschichtungen

Miesmuscheln inspirieren zur nächsten Generation von wasserbasierten Nassklebstoffen. Muschelfußproteine (mfps) ermöglichen es den Muscheln, sich an jede Oberfläche zu haften und zeigen bemerkenswerte Eigenschaften, die insbesondere durch das Aminosäurederivat 3,4 Dihydroxyphenylalanin (Dopa) verursacht werden. Da der Einfluss von Wasser nach wie vor eine große Herausforderung für Klebeanwendungen darstellt und die Herstellung und Reinigung von Klebeproteinen viel Zeit und Kosten erfordert, ist ein einfacher Zugang zu biomimetischen Klebstoffen von großem Interesse. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht einen neuartigen Muschel-inspirierten Polymerisationsansatz zur Herstellung von adhäsiven Proteinanaloga aus Oligopeptiden (Unimeren). Der Polymerisationsmechanismus nutzt einen Reaktionsweg, der in Miesmuscheln auftritt und beruht auf einer enzymatischen Oxidation von Tyrosin zu Dopachinon, das mit freien Thiolen aus Cystein Cysteinyldopa bildet, wodurch Unimere verknüpft und adhäsive Funktionalitäten erzeugt werden. Innerhalb weniger Minuten entstehen hochmolekulare Polymere, die ein vielseitiges Adsorptions- und starkes Adhäsionsverhalten demonstrieren. Die Proteinanaloga weisen eine signifikante Multischicht-Adsorption auf hydrophilen sowie hydrophoben Oberflächen auf und sind resistent gegenüber Spülschritten mit hochkonzentrierten Salz-Lösungen. Die beobachteten Adhäsionsenergien liegen im Bereich von kommerziellen mfp-Extrakten und überschreiten sogar berichtete Werte für isolierte mfps. Die Arbeit präsentiert eine einfache Synthese künstlicher mfp-Analoga, die in der Lage sind Aspekte natürlicher mfps nachzuahmen und potenziell zur Entwicklung von wasserresistenten Universalklebstoffen beitragen. Um die Bedingungen für eine kostengünstige, großtechnische Produktion zu verbessern, werden zusätzlich alternative Synthesewege für die enzymfreie Herstellung Muschel-inspirierter Polymere untersucht, die auf der chemischen Oxidation von Dopa-haltigen Unimeren beruhen. / Marine mussels provide inspiration for the next generation of water-based, wet adhesives. Mussel foot proteins (mfps) enable them to attach to any surface and exhibit remarkable properties, notably due to the amino acid derivative 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (Dopa). Since the influence of water still constitutes a major challenge for gluing applications and large-scale production and purification of adhesive proteins is time-consuming and costly, an easy access route toward biomimetic adhesives is of high interest. This thesis investigates a novel mussel-inspired polymerization approach for the production of adhesive protein analogues from oligopeptides (unimers). The polymerization mechanism exploits a distinct reaction pathway, occurring in mussels and relies on enzyme-mediated oxidation of tyrosine to Dopaquinone in the unimers, which forms cysteinyldopa with free thiols from cysteine, thereby linking unimers and generating adhesive moieties. Within a few minutes high molecular weight polymers are obtained that show versatile adsorption and strong adhesion behaviour. The protein analogues exhibit significant multilayer adsorption onto hydrophilic as well as hydrophobic surfaces and resist rinsing with highly saline solutions. Comparative adhesion studies on silica reveal adhesion energies that are in the same range as commercial mussel foot protein extracts and even exceed reported values for isolated foot proteins that constitute the gluing interfaces. The approach offers facile access toward artificial mussel foot proteins that are capable of mimicking aspects of the natural ideal and potentially helps to develop next-generation universal water resistant glues. In order to further improve the conditions regarding cost-efficient and large-scale production in the future, alternative synthesis routes for the enzyme-free generation of mussel-inspired polymers based on chemical oxidation of Dopa containing unimers are additionally explored.

Assessing the effectiveness of practitioner training in underprivileged early childhood settings

This study was conducted in order to assess the effectiveness of practitioner training in underprivileged early childhood settings. The quantitative study set out to test a target group of 800 Grade R children, ranging in age from five to six and a half years, in order to determine the impact that practitioner training on early intervention has on young children. A pre-test evaluated the initial level of each child‟s abilities, including physical-motor, language and speech, cognitive, play and social and emotional development. Children were placed into control and experimental groups through random selection of practitioners. The experimental group's teachers (practitioners) underwent an eight-month part-time intervention programme which focused on the importance of early intervention, the domains of development, planning, preparation and assessment as well as encouraging community awareness. The control and experimental groups continued with their normal school programmes, but the practitioners in the experimental group were developing a deeper understanding of early childhood development and activities which enhance development in children. The results indicate that the impact of effective practitioner training and enhancing a deep understanding of stimulation in young children can have positive, long-term results in children's cognitive ability, laying foundational concepts and scope for development. Vast differences were noted in the ability level of children which were stimulated, as compared with those children who were not as stimulated. / Psychology of Education / D. Ed. Rooted in all its story, more is meant than meets the ear : a study of the relational and revelational nature of George MacDonald's mythopoeic art

Scholars and storytellers alike have deemed George MacDonald a great mythopoeic writer, an exemplar of the art. Examination of this accolade by those who first applied it to him proves it profoundly theological: for them a mythopoeic tale was a relational medium through which transformation might occur, transcending boundaries of time and space. The implications challenge much contemporary critical study of MacDonald, for they demand that his literary life and his theological life cannot be divorced if either is to be adequately assessed. Yet they prove consistent with the critical methodology MacDonald himself models and promotes. Utilizing MacDonald’s relational methodology evinces his intentional facilitating of Mythopoesis. It also reveals how oversights have impeded critical readings both of MacDonald’s writing and of his character. It evokes a redressing of MacDonald’s relationship with his Scottish cultural, theological, and familial environment – of how his writing is a response that rises out of these, rather than, as has so often been asserted, a mere reaction against them. Consequently it becomes evident that key relationships, both literary and personal, have been neglected in MacDonald scholarship – relationships that confirm MacDonald’s convictions and inform his writing, and the examination of which restores his identity as a literature scholar. Of particular relational import in this reassessment is A.J. Scott, a Scottish visionary intentionally chosen by MacDonald to mentor him in a holistic Weltanschauung. Little has been written on Scott, yet not only was he MacDonald’s prime influence in adulthood, but he forged the literary vocation that became MacDonald’s own. Previously unexamined personal and textual engagement with John Ruskin enables entirely new readings of standard MacDonald texts, as does the textual engagement with Matthew Arnold and F.D. Maurice. These close readings, informed by the established context, demonstrate MacDonald’s emergence, practice, and intent as a mythopoeic writer.

In comparison with the art production at Nurnberg or at the cities of the so-called Danube School at the end of 15th century stands the simultaneous painting at Munich in the background. Therefore is sometimes forgotten, that there, in this period, a painter Jan Polack with his workshop was active. To his important customers/patrons belonged the dukes Sigmund and Albrecht of Wittelsbach and the Bavarian monasteries (Weihenstephan near Feising), for which he made few altars or portraits. A most of these altars were after that removed from the original sacral areas and today they are presented in the Bavarian National-museum at Munich or in other galleries. Only a few altars, for example three altars for the chapel in Blutenburg near Munich, have been staying on the original place in this small chapel. These Master thesis would like to compare his most representative pictures in the context with the others paintings, which were created in the middle or at the end of the 15th century in Bavaria (circle of Hans Pleydenwurff, Wolfgang Katzheimer etc.). This comparison can help to find the sources of the Polacks artistic expression. A special attention should be devoted his cooperation with Mair of Landshut, because few pictures of Polacks altar from the church of St. Peter in Munich have just been to Mair inscribed. It is also important to point to same compositional connections between the altar-pictures of Jan Polack and the graphics (Master E. S., Martin Schongauer) One highly-valued contribution of this thesis could be a capitol about the possible inspiration of the Polacks artistic expression for the artists, who came from Bohemia and who have been working here for a long times, but who could gain their training in the Bavaria (Munich). At the literature (Jaroslav Pešina) was one opinion expressed, that an altar in a church in Chudenitz concludes the formal features, which reveal a connection to the art at Munich in the middle of the 15th century. However, other authors (Roman Lavička) think that the painted boards of an original altar of Doudleby were inspired by Polacks artistic expression, although any concrete related features were not in the literature mentioned. It is appropriate too, point to the several compositional connections between the pictures of Jan Polack und a so-called Master of an altar from Litoměřice. This anonymous Bohemian painter, who is knowed only according to his most important commission, would be supposed to study in the Bavaria (an artistic circle of Rueland Frueauf at Passau) at the end of the 15th century. It is possible, that he could visit Munich und he could be inspired by the Polacks paintings.

La prééminence du droit international et de l'arbitrage transnational en droit des investissements étrangers / The pre-eminence of international law and transnational arbitration in foreign investment law

Établissant une relation entre un État ou l’une de ses émanations, d’une part, et un investisseur d’autre part, le droit des investissements étrangers se meut au-delà de la distinction droit public/droit privé. Compte tenu du fait qu’il se situe à un point de jonction entre le droit international et le droit interne, le droit des investissements pose d’importantes questions relatives à la loi applicable, ainsi qu’aux juridictions compétentes. Conçu comme un ordre juridique spécifique provenant de l’interaction entre les ordres juridiques international et interne, le droit des investissements engendre de multiples répercussions quant à son interférence avec l’ordre juridique interne. Cette interférence, n’étant soumise à aucune hiérarchie de compétence législative ou juridictionnelle, soulève de sérieuses interrogations : quel serait le droit applicable lorsque les droits interne et international ont vocation à s’appliquer dans un même litige ? Dans le même ordre d’idées, quelle serait la juridiction compétente si les institutions juridictionnelles internationales et internes sont toutes les deux compétentes selon leurs propres règles de rattachement pour trancher le litige ? Les réponses à ces interrogations ne sont pas évidentes et continuent de donner lieu à de vifs débats. La question n’ayant pas été tranchée de façon ferme et définitive, la présente étude proposera d’y apporter des éléments de réponse en démontrant la manifeste prééminence du droit international de fond et de l’arbitrage transnational de nature à permettre d’écarter l’application de la loi locale et d’exclure la compétence des juges internes. Cette prééminence fera enfin l’objet d’un examen approprié. / Establishing a relationship between a State or one of its emanations, on the one hand, and an investor, on the other, international investment law moves beyond the distinction between public law and private law. Given the fact that it resides in-between international law and domestic law, international investment law raises important questions about the governing law and jurisdiction. Conceived as a specific legal order arising from the interaction between the international and the national legal orders, international investment law begets controversy with respect to its interference with the national legal order. This interference, which is not submitted to any hierarchy on the legislative or jurisdictional level, raises serious questions: what would be the applicable law when domestic law and international law are both involved in the same dispute? In a similar manner, what would be the competent court if the international and domestic jurisdictional institutions are both competent according to the rules of their own legal order? The answers to these questions are not obvious and continue to give rise to heated debates. As the issue has not been firmly and definitively resolved, the present study aims to provide an answer by demonstrating the pre-eminence of substantive international law and transnational arbitration to the point of clearly excluding the application of the local law and the competence of domestic judges. This pre-eminence will finally be subject to an in-depth examination.

The diploma thesis focuses on learning Maths through French language using the CLIL method at a secondary vocational school. The acronym CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), EMILE (Enseignement de Matières par Intégration d'une Langue Etrangère) or e.g. AICL (Apprentissage Intégré d'un Contenu et d'une Langue) refers to integrated learning of a content-based subject through an additional language. There are always two aims of such tuition. The first aim is the content goal (e.g. to gain particular specialized knowledge or skill in mathematics); the second aim is the language goal (e.g. to learn essential vocabulary and sentence structures in order to lead a discussion concerning the solution of a quadratic equation in the French language). Based on a literary research, analysis of educational CLIL materials, and especially in connection with theoretical grounds of the method (constructivism, problem-solving, critical thinking, active and communicative approach) there was established a study plan focusing on the topic of quadratic equations. The experimental tuition was put into practice with the 1st year students of a secondary school, where the French language is taught as the second foreign language. Organic architecture is often used term especially in connection with the daring and experimental form. The exact definition or division is still missing. The founder of modern organic architecture is to be generally considered as Frank Loyd Wright. He was the man who created organic architecture and also made first definition in the early twentieth century, when formulating new architectural styles. Dissertation deals with insufficiently described problem of organic architecture. The main focus is on contemporary production of residential organic architecture in Central Europe. Especially on the particular realizations in Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Austria, Germany and Poland. Beside detail description of European realizations, the dissertation deals also with foundations of organic architecture in U.S.A. and important realizations here. Modern organic architecture primarily originated in the United States of America. The work presents most important contemporary realizations and architects creating resident living organic architecture in other countries around the world in order to complete the overview. The objective of dissertation was describing newest trends in designing buildings for living. Find position of organic architecture and give reasons for it´s increasing popularity, spread and necessity for new development in architecture according to the new trends. Organic architecture is an alternative way of contemporary residential living. It´s popularity is growing in last years in response to the development of modern technologies and materials, the need to protect our natural resources and also to the increasing negatives of globalization and to denial of local traditions and regional specificities. Aspects of organic forms were divided into three main groups according to their main characteristics: form, harmony and sustainable development. Another objective was find location of contemporary organic residential architecture in Czech Republic and abroad. It is rather spread all over the world than concentrated on certain places. Therefore I selected countries that are richer than the others on the occurrence of organic buildings. The objective was also to address architects, specialists, public and especially university teachers of architecture and students themselves. Communication with them was mainly connected with grant project in 2010. The theme of grant project was contemporary organic architecture in residential living. There were lectures about contemporary organic architecture and exhibition on the theme: Contemporary living organic architecture. The publication of the catalog was published under the title: Contemporary organic houses - Europe. I had the opportunity to visit a number of organic family houses abroad. Specifically houses in Slovakia, Hungary and Germany. Results of survey, which was realized by questions to owners and authors of chosen buildings, are included in dissertation. The mail results of dissertation are - make a detail review of organic architecture in residential living - define trends in contemporary organic architecture and residential living - obtain and process answers from owners and authors of chosen buildings within survey - analysis of organic house ( houses) in city planning and landscape - publication of catalogue focused on organic contemporary European houses - article about contemporary organic architecture and residential living will be published in 2012 on archiweb page
