Mitigação de falhas críticas em sistemas produtivos. / Mitigation of critical faults in production systems.Souza, Jeferson Afonso Lopes de 24 June 2015 (has links)
The competitive and globalized scenario in which the companies operate, especially from the twenty-first century, associated with shrinking life cycles of products, stringent quality requirements, and environmental preservation policies, reducing energy consumption and water resources, in addition of legal requirements for better working conditions, resulted in a paradigm shift in production processes previously designed. As a solution to this new production scenario may be mentioned the extensive use of industrial automation, which has resulted in ever more complex systems, both from a structural point of view, due to the high number of components, the complexity of control systems. The predictability of all possible states of the system becomes practically impossible. Among the possible states can mention the states of fault, depending on the severity of the effect associated with its occurrence, can result in serious damage to man, the environment and own facilities, if not properly diagnosed and treated. Recent events for disasters related to production systems show the need to implement measures to prevent and mitigate the effects of the occurrence of faults in order to prevent the occurrence of disasters. According to experts, the Safety Instrumented Systems - SIS, referenced in standards such as IEC 61508 and IEC 61511, are a solution to this problem. Published papers deal with methods for the implementation of SIS layers of prevention, but with shortage of jobs for mitigation SIS layers. Depending on the system dynamics of ignorance in a fault state, traditional modeling techniques become unviable. In this case, the use of artificial intelligence, such as fuzzy logic can become a solution to the development of the control algorithm, associated with editing tools, modeling and generation of control codes. The purpose of this paper is to present a systematic for implementing a control system for the mitigation of critical failures in production systems, with reference to IEC 61508/61511 standards, with preemptive action to the occurrence of disasters.

Several dynamic translaminar fracture toughness criteria have been determined for TiGr hybrid fiber-metal laminate through Linear Elastic (K-factor) and Elastic-Plastic (J-integral) Fracture Mechanics (LEFM and EPFM, respectively) concepts and methodologies. Instrumented Charpy impact testing was carried out over a wide range of temperatures under two loading rates. It has been discovered that the elastic-plastic initiation toughness, Jid, and the toughness at maximum load, Jmd, of TiGr are controlled by either delamination favoring or suppression. Impact tests revealed that the in-service use of TiGr must rely on its resistance to dynamic fracture propagation (as characterized by Jmd) rather than on fracture initiation (by Jid). In a broad sense, the requirements for Jid data validity as a material property (JId) were fulfilled, whereas many restrictive demands in regard to the minimum testpiece size were violated by the Jmd criterion. Generally, higher impact velocities were beneficial to TiGrs J-toughnesses, inasmuch as higher temperatures impaired these properties. Regarding the LEFM approach, KJd toughness of TiGr laminate was imparted by faster impacts at higher temperatures, whilst the strain rate negatively influenced the Kid toughness over the whole temperature range tested. Higher temperatures also degraded the K-toughness properties of TiGr hybrid laminate. Differently from J-toughnesses values, the KJd e Kid criteria did not satisfy at all the more stringent criteria set forth by the LEFM approach with regard to plastic constraint, as compared to those established by EPFM. Finally, the mechanical performance of TiGr laminate was overwhelmingly compromised as the materials specific gravity was taken in account to obtain K and J toughness values by unit weight, so that TiGr was by far exceeded in this regard by conventional Carbon/Epoxy composite laminates.

This thesis presents an experimental study about the specific cutting energy and its relation with cutting parameters, geometrical and tribological characteristics of tools, and workpiece material. Depth of cut, cutting speed, tool nose radius, chip-breaker geometry, tool coating, hardness, microstructure and chemical composition of the workpiece material are some investigated variables. The following workpiece materials were tested: SAE 1213, 1020, 1045, annealed and tempered ASTM H13 steels, and 2024 aluminum alloy. The specific cutting energy values were measured by using a Charpy machine instrumented through piezoelectric dynamometer and incremental optical encoder. Several results could be compared to ones from instrumented CNC lathe and machining center. Tests under HSM condition were carried out in machine-tools. All researched variables have influence over specific cutting energy. The depth of cut rise in 2.3x caused a decrease of specific cutting energy around 21% when machining 2024 aluminum alloy. The elevation of the cutting speed about 70% leaded to reduction of specific cutting energy around 24% when machining SAE 1020 steel. The tool geometry present more influence on specific cutting energy under conventional cutting speed than at high speed cutting. Small variations of tool chip-breaker geometries caused diminution of the specific cutting energy up to 29% for conventional cutting speed, and 14% on average for HSM condition when machining tempered ASTM H13 steel. Various specific cutting energy results obtained from the Charpy test proposed by this work presented a good concordance with equivalent ones provided by scientific literature

Analysis of damage mechanisms in composite structures reinforced by tufting / Analyse des mécanismes d'endommagement des structures composites renforcées par le tuftingMartins, Alan 15 November 2018 (has links)
This study focused mainly on the assessment of the mechanical performance and the failure mechanisms of tufted composites under divers loading conditions. Laminated plates and stiffened panels reinforced by tufting was manufactured with different tufting parameters to evaluate their effect in the properties of the composites. Multi-instrumented characterization carried out during the tests assisted the investigation. The tufted plates subjected to short-beam shear tests aided especially in the behavior analysis of tufting density and angle in mode Il loading condition, while impact and compression after impact (CAI) tests on the damage tolerance. Open-hole fatigue tests were also performed to evaluate the tufts response, especially regarding their position to the center hole, to the strain concentration factor generated by the hole. The following part of this work consisted of the mechanical tests on omega stiffened panel reinforced by tufting. The procedure optimized the tufting parameters employed for reinforcing the structures from the previous batch of specimens until reaching an optimal point that the main properties, primarily found in pull-off tests, are equal or superior to those of the control specimens. This improvement also considered the modifications in the shape of the stiffeners. Furthermore, a novel approach based on the piezoresistive effect of carbon tufts under loading of the composite specimens is performed. This may support the monitoring of the health status on the tufted threads and therefore of the composite because of the structural nature of the tufts. The results showed that tufting reinforcements are capable of increasing the interlaminar fracture toughness and damage tolerance of the composites considerably owing mainly to their crack bridging phenomena. The tufting parameters are decisive factors for achieving the best mechanical properties. However, this work reported that tuft threads are also responsible for generating cracks due to the strain concentration and defects caused by their insertion and consequently, can decrease the strength of the composites. The investigation concludes that the random insertion of the tufts is not ideal for the performance of the material and thus must be avoided. The development of the tufting insertion in the omega stiffeners was supported by the multi-instrumented characterization that led to optimizing reinforcement in the structure. Although the study achieved the goal of obtaining mechanical properties significantly superior to the omega panels reinforced by tufting, it is noticeable that the procedure employed is not optimal. The present work also proposes a preliminary finite element model to overcome the costly and time consuming of the experimental tests. It intends primarily optimizing the tufting parameters in the structure. The model developed was capable of predicting the same damage events as observed experimentally, but it still distant from the quantitative predictions of the results. The structural health monitoring of the tufted composite laminates by the carbon threads seems promising and could help in the future for supplying data about the tufts health status under loading that are not achieved by the conventional characterization methods employed in this work.

This work intends to analyze the effects produced by the flooding of the soilexcavated piles, isolated, subjected to compression efforts. The results refer to the execution of three slow load tests on piles with diameters of 0.40 m and 0.50 m (2 distinct load tests) and 10.0 m lengths, submitted previously to a number of shipments (two slow and two quick load). The results concerning offsets measured at the top of the stakes and those obtained by the instrumentation installed along the forend are then compared with the sequence of the previous results, to evaluate the effect of damping in behavior \"load x settlement\" and load transfer mechanisms. It was also made a thorough description of the process used to flood the ground and a brief consideration of the effects of non-replacement of loads in slow, long-term trials.

Caractérisation multi-échelle et analyse par essai d'indentation instrumentée de matériaux à gradient générés par procédés mécaniques et thermochimiques de traitement de surface / Multiscale characterization and analysis through the use of instrumented indentation of plastically graded materials obtained with thermochemical and mechanical surface treatmentsMarteau, Julie 15 October 2013 (has links)
This thesis is a prospective work on the multiscale characterization of plastically graded materials obtained with mechanical (shot peening using air pressure or ultrasounds) or thermochemical (nitriding, ion implantation, low temperature carburizing) surface treatments. The benefits of several characterization techniques (scanning electron microscopy, spectrometry, instrumented indentation, interferometric microscopy), at different scales, and the possible existence of a signature of the studied surface treatments on the material were examined. A multiscale analysis of the ultrasonically shot-peened specimens linked the process conditions with the material roughness. A novel statistical approach was proposed to determine the treated material roughness without deteriorating the surface through resurfacing. The latter enabled to establish a link between the shot-peened specimen roughness and their hardness. A detailed literature review of a hundred articles examined the IV simulation of the instrumented indentation test with finite elements in order to assess the effect of different hypotheses on the simulation results. Using a finite element model, the sensitivity of indentation curves to a variation of material parameters was examined. The latter enabled to reflect on the identification of the properties of plastically grade materials using the instrumented indentation test.

Un tutorat transversal à distance et en ligne pour l’université / A transversal tutoring online in distance education for the universityMicholet, Marie 29 November 2018 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to assess the online tutoring through an analysis of tutoring interactions between students and tutors using digital communication tools during distance and online institutional education. The objective is to identify indexes that can be referential in determining cross-cutting tutorial activity. It is an attempt to understand the process of determining the specificities of the missions of tutors and the expectations of their participation in teaching and learning with the view to establish an cross-cutting tutoring activity and its implementation in distance education for the university. The theoretical framework is that of ethnography in its theory (empirical approach) and its methodological approaches. We are preparing a survey in order to observe tutoring-based interactions which focus on guiding students not in a specific discipline, but rather in a cross-section of disciplines, characterised by discussions between Master’s Degree students and a tutor for two years. The multi-modality of tutoring will lead to the collection of data resulting from digital communication tools (both synchronous and non-synchronous). The data will thus be composed of both written traces left by students in discussion forums, email and in synchronous conversations. Conversations carried out within this context will thus enable the analysis of the phenomena obtained during the survey. This study thus serves as an opportunity to compare the academic duty of online tutors and the reality of their place in distance education and to provide the way forward for a better integration of online tutoring into education. The overall goal is to come up with a prototype of tutoring activities with the view to create an online tutoring in digital education.

Experimental analysis of fan noise and performance at the EESC-USP Fan Rig Workbench / Análise experimental de ruído e performance de fan na bancada EESC-USP Fan Rig WorkbenchRocamora Junior, Bernardo Martínez 08 February 2019 (has links)
The study of turbofan aeroacoustics has become important in academia and industry as noise from other aircraft sources, as jet noise, have been reduced. The EESC-USP Fan Rig is a long-duct low-speed fan experimental setup recently built at the Department of Aeronautical Engineering of the University of São Paulo. The objective is to provide a facility for studying fan aeroacoustics with a flexible configuration that allows changes in operational conditions and geometry of the rig so that each of the noise sources can be treated separately. In this work, three experimental campaign were taken aiming to extend the knowledge of this workbench capabilities and to observe the effect that some parameters can have on noise generation. A performance campaign was carried out to characterise the effects of controllable parameters on the aerodynamic characteristics of the flow. Starting from unrestricted flow to 70% area constraint, and a range of fan speeds, several flow measurements that could be translated into performance quantities were taken: volume flow rate, fan total and static pressures, compression ratio, total and net power, and efficiency. The measured compression ratio ranged from 1.00 to 1.02, with maximum axial Mach of 0.13 and maximum total efficiency of 65%. The surge effect, an unstable configuration characterised by rotor blades stall was also observed. Significant differences in fan performance due to the installation of an Inlet Control Device (ICD) and the rotor-stator spacing were not found, except under surge conditions. A parametric campaign was carried out exploring the effects of fan rotational speed, fan loading and rotor-stator spacing. Acoustic measurements were taken using an array of 77 wall-mounted microphones to provide a baseline data set for future comparisons. Hereby, data was processed to obtain the modal decomposition and power spectrum for each configuration. The last proved useful to compare tonal and broadband noise for each configuration. Experimental results indicate that changes in fan rotational speed scale noise generation mechanisms proportionally, do not affect noise spectral shape, and in consequence, are not useful to distinguish noise mechanisms. Although throttling does not seem to exhibit a clear effect on fan noise, it turns out that it is a good approach for cross-comparisons of other parameters\' effect on fan noise, because of its direct modification on the flow structure within the duct. Results also showed that increasing rotor-stator spacing reduces both blade passing frequencies tone levels and the acoustic power of the interaction modes, which are in agreement with results obtained by similar test facilities. In this work a instrumented stator vane was designed using recently available technologies, as 3D printing and the use of MEMS microphones, to measure this pressure fluctuations. Phase-averaging and the signal from a hall sensor were used to separate broadband content in time series. Broadband level distribution were analysed for two span lines of the instrumented stator vane and for a reference microphone located in the inlet antenna. Broadband levels increased with the increase in fan speed and its distribution over these span lines maintained its shape for different speeds. Cross-correlation of the microphones were calculated and showed decay of zero-delay cross-correlation with increase in distance between microphones over the vane. And, finally, the integral length scale, obtained by the integration of zero-delay cross-correlation curve, showed decay with increase in fan speed. The data generated by this work showed good agreements with what was expected from the literature and will help as input data to the semi-analytical and semi-empirical models that are being developed in parallel by the research group.

In-vitro degradation of calcium phosphate bone substitutes : Coupled monitoring of the evolution of mechanical, microstructural and physico-chemical properties of DCPD and β-TCP samples / Dégradation in-vitro de substituts osseux à base de phosphates de calcium : Suivi couplé de l’évolution des propriétés mécaniques, microstructurales et physico-chimiques d’échantillons de DCPD et β-TCPGallo, Marta 26 November 2015 (has links)
The present Ph.D. thesis work was aimed to establish and assess an experimental methodology to monitor the in-vitro evolution of calcium phosphate (CaP) bone substitutes. Dicalcium phosphate dihydrate and beta-tricalcium phosphate were chosen as model of two main classes of bone substitutes: “biosoluble” ones (which undergo dissolution after implantation) and “bioresorbable” ones (which undergo cellular resorption after implantation). In order to study the dissolution and precipitation phenomena, which take place once CaPs are immersed in solution, these materials were produced in the form of micro-porous samples (60% of porosity for DCPD, 75% for β-TCP) and used for dissolution tests in-vitro in static and dynamic conditions (without or with liquid renewal) in different buffered solutions at physiologic pH (TRIS and PBS) and for periods of time ranging between 30 minutes and 2 months. The analysis of the physico-chemical, microstructural and mechanical properties of the samples before and after immersion allowed to evaluate the influence of the chosen medium and immersion conditions on the evolution of the specimens. Particular attention was paid to the mechanical characterisation: instrumented spherical micro-indentation was preferred to other more conventional tests. This technique enables the evaluation of several parameters such as the hardness and the Young’s modulus in a quasi-non-destructive way and on a local scale. As a consequence, the use of micro-indentation proved to be of great help for monitoring the characteristics of the degraded specimens, which presented a gradient of properties between the surface (where the degradation process starts) and the core (subject to changes on a longer period). The last part of this work was focused on the study of the second main phenomenon, which takes part in the in-vivo resorption of bone substitutes, that is to say the cellular resorption. For this purpose, cellular tests with osteoclast-precursor cells were carried out on dense samples made of pure and magnesium-doped β-TCP (5 mol.% of Mg). The addition of magnesium was aimed to modify the properties of the material and, as a consequence, the cellular behavior. The results confirmed the cytocompatibility of both types of β-TCP, but they also showed a difficult activation of osteoclasts. Two of the possible causes would be linked to the topography of the surface of the specimens and to the release of calcium ions due to the dissolution of the material.
