Användarens attityd till reklaminslag på webb-TV : En studie om hur användaren upplever reklam i ett nytt medium / The users attitude to advertisements on Web TV : A case study of how the user perceive advertising in a new kind of medium

The technological development contributes to an increase in advertising when it comes to media. Those who are working to develop advertising are constantly looking for new ways to reach consumers in unexplored contexts. Web TV is a relatively new technique that involves the distribution of television across the Internet. This study intend to investigate how users perceive advertising appearing on web TV, and contribute to the knowledge about how advertising adapt to new media. To reach the results of this study, we used quantitative data, collected in the form of web-surveys and qualitative data collected through semi-structured interviews. The results of the study showed that the user has a negative attitude towards advertisements on web TV. Despite the negativity, the user still understand and recognize the importance of advertising concerning the survival of tv-channels online. It is also clear that the choice of web TV service mainly is based on the supply of programs, and not on how the service contain advertising or not. / Den teknologiska utvecklingen bidrar till att reklam i media ökar. Reklamutvecklare söker ständigt nya sätt att nå konsumenten genom reklam i outforskade sammanhang. Webb-TV är en relativt ny teknik som innebär distribution av television via internet. Denna studie avser att undersöka hur användare upplever reklaminslag som förekommer på webb-TV samt bidra med kunskap om hur reklam anpassas till nya medier. För att komma fram till studiens resultat användes kvantitativ datainsamling i form av webb-enkäter samt kvalitativ datainsamling genom semistrukturerade intervjuer. Resultatet av studien visade att användaren har en mycket negativ inställning till reklaminslag på webb-TV. Trots den negativa inställningen har användaren ändå förståelse och inser vikten av reklam för webb-TV-kanalernas överlevnad. Det framgår även att valet av webb-TV-tjänst främst grundar sig på programutbudet och inte på om tjänsten konsumerar reklam eller inte.

After a debate on the convergence of media, this dissertation reflects on the language of Databases from authors such as Lev Manovich, Victoria Vesna, Christiane Paul, Sharon Daniel, among others, to analyze the film production of the service streaming video Netflix, the main representative of this “new media”. From this content, the current research tries to observe the convergence of languages demonstrating the recent changes of the film and series provider in relation to the degree of convergence between the films and series and the technical and aesthetic possibilities coming from the format of databases. / A convergência da internet com a televisão faz surgir uma “nova mídia”, que tem sido chamada de “Internet TV” (HUNT, URIBE, 2015) ou “TV Conectada” (BRENNAN, 2013), a presente pesquisa pretende avaliar se tal convergência está também ocorrendo em relação às linguagens desses meios. Além de apresentar um debate sobre a convergência dos meios, também reflete sobre uma linguagem dos Bancos de Dados a partir de autores como Lev Manovich, Victoria Vesna, Christiane Paul, Sharon Daniel, entre outros, para analisar a produção de filmes e séries do serviço de streaming de vídeo Netflix, principal representante dessa “nova mídia”. A partir desse conteúdo, a presente dissertação procura observar a convergência de linguagens demonstrando as modificações recentes da plataforma de distribuição audiovisual em relação ao grau de convergência entre os filmes e séries e as possibilidades técnicas e estéticas provenientes do formato de bancos de dados, apresentando duas possíveis novas linguagens de produção audiovisual: linguagem interativa e linguagem algorítmica.

Marie Štenglová, 19. 5. 2017 Abstract The diploma thesis Variety of Genres within Czech Internet Televisions analyses the programme of three major internet televisions in the Czech Republic - Stream, Aktuálně.TV and Playtvak. The aim of the thesis is to detect the differences between the programmes offered by internet televisions and by conventional televisions. One of the principal questions is whether these differences are caused by the specific character of internet television as an online medium, or by the change in the genre perception in general. The programmes dealt with in the thesis are serials A bude hůř and Semestr, a talk show Kafe s Jolanou, a lifestyle magazine Telebrity, and cooking shows Šéfkuchařovy recepty and MENU domů. These formats, belonging to fictional or factual TV, are analysed from the narrative, semiotic, and visual points of view and are compared with each other and also with similar formats in conventional televisions. The theoretical part of the thesis describes Czech internet televisions in the era of media convergence. In den letzten 20 Jahren haben sich in Sachsen mit ca. 60 Sendern die meisten privaten regionalen Fernsehsender der Bundesrepublik etabliert. Diese übernehmen dabei oft Aufgaben der Informationsversorgung, denen die öffentlich-rechtlichen Sender nur unzureichend nachkommen. Das InnoProfile Forschungsvorhaben sachsMedia fokussierte auf die existentielle und facettenreiche Umbruchschwelle kleiner und mittelständischer Unternehmen aus dem Bereich der regionalen Medienverbreitung. Besonders kritisch für die Medienbranche war der Übergang von analoger zu digitaler Fernsehausstrahlung im Jahr 2010. Die Forschungsinitiative sachsMedia nahm sich der zugrundeliegenden Problematiken an und bearbeitete grundlegende Forschungsfragen in den beiden Themenkomplexen Annotation & Retrieval und Mediendistribution. Der vorliegende Forschungsbericht fasst die erreichten Ergebnisse zusammen.
