Another experience of the holy: fostering dialogue about religion and God in Catholic schools with multifaith student populationsBurwell, Jeffrey Scott 17 March 2005 (has links)
This study seeks to articulate how and to what extent the religious-education programs,
faith formation, and spiritual ethos in Catholic schools can cultivate dialogue about and
foster experiences of religion and God in light of the diversity of faith traditions present
in the student population. The methodology involves demographic and document inquiry,
participant observation, and individual, semistructured interviews using an analytical
framework inspired by Thomas Groome’s seminal work on a shared Christian praxis.
Research was conducted between November 2004 and March 2005. One school in
Canada, one school in the United States, and two schools in India were observed, and 15
interviews were completed. What was demonstrated most clearly is that specific dialogue
about religion and God is not a primary focus in any of the schools. Rather, their
approaches seek to foster character development and religious tolerance based on the
principles of moral and values education that are rooted in the experiences of the
students. This study is useful for schools that desire to stimulate religious expression and
dialogue that are rooted in, but not limited to, the narrow language of a single faith
tradition.

Evanjelizácia a misie v bolívijskej Chiquitánii od XVI. storočia do súčasnosti vo svetle jezuitského dedičstva / The Bolivian Chiquitania misssions of the XX. century. Prospects and challanges for the presentMIKO, Miloš January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the history and development of Catholic missions in Bolivian Chiquitánia since the 16th century to the present time. The work is divided into 7 chapters, which gradually evolve the historical context of evangelistic efforts in this area against the background of the colonial social system, which was replaced by other forms of economic and social relations, often unfair and abusive within the Indian populations, during the next centuries. The basis of this work is the exploration and analysis of resources, aimed at comparing the Jesuit Evangelization Mission in XVII. - XVIII. centuries and the situation in XX. century to the present. The final chapter is devoted to a concrete example of evangelization in the educational field, where the personal experience, observation and knowledge of the author are also used.

COLÔNIA RONDINHA/SANTA LÚCIA: COLONIZAÇÃO E RELIGIOSIDADE NA REGIÃO DAS MISSÕES DO RIO GRANDE DO SUL (1921-1937). / COLÔNIA RONDINHA/SANTA LUCIA: COLONIZATION AND RELIGIOSITY IN THE REGION OF MISSOES, RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL (1919-1937).Wesz, Mauro Marx 31 May 2016 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research seeks to explain issues related to the settlement and historical representations undertaken by the community of Rondinha/Santa Lúcia/Caibaté, in the Missões of Rio Grande do Sul, southern region of Brazil, in the early years of the twentieth century. We take as axis of analysis the territorial appropriation of this location to a better understanding of the process of integration between individuals of different origins that occurred in the rural community of Rondinha/Santa Lúcia. Its settlement occurred from settlers and shifting cultivators, in this case, descendants of european immigrants who were seeking new properties for economic growing, and a group of other persons who were already living there, and were linked to agricultural activities and usually linked to ranchers historically present in that space. The foundation of the Santa Lucia village and the construction of the Sanctuary of Caaro present themselves as intrinsic aspects to understand the firsts activities while community of that society, and the notion of past benchmarks that should be followed. Also we propose to understand how this concept of missioneirism continues to be made among the Pilgrimage‟s of Caaró of penitential character, as well the production of their narratives, for this it‟s essential to relate every aspect mentioned above. That way we can explain a little more about the peculiarities of this place, and who were the agents involved in the tangle of existing social relations in this mixed colony in the early decades of the twentieth century.

INTRODUCTION: The Society of Jesus from its inception has influenced the most diverse spheres of society, including the informational field. One of the ways of exercising such influence was through the letters written by the religious. OBJECTIVE: To identify and analyze the first prescriptions for the epistolary writing of the Society of Jesus, investigating their contents and comparing them with each other. METHOD: Literature review on the historical-informational context of the sixteenth century, more specifically on the first decades of print expansion and epistolography in the period, focusing on manuals for writing letters; the review sought to emphasize the contributions of the Jesuits in the context. RESULTS: The survey found three epistolary norms in the first years of the Society: the Rules (1547), some articles of the Constitutions (1558) on the subject and the Formula scribendi (1565), whose translation into Portuguese was made exclusively for this work. Their analysis showed that the Society developed rigid norms for the production and circulation of letters, but that made possible the creation of a true network of epistolary information throughout the world. CONCLUSIONS: The Jesuits played a relevant role in the informational context of the sixteenth century, especially through their letters. By determining issues such as authors, recipients, themes of the letters and their deadlines, the rules of letters were of essential importance for the maintenance of this information network.

Previous issue date: 2012-04-03 / The work aims to analyze the civilizing process employed by the Jesuits in the missions of Guairá between the years 1609 and 1632, with reference to the central theoretical concept of cultural negociation, as conceived by Hommi Bhabha. According to our hypothesis, the introduction of the eurochristian culture among the Guarani took place through intense cultural negotiation between the parties involved. This movement inaugurated the construction of intersubjective bridges between the Indians and the religious, which therefore resulted in a hybrid culture, with aspects of both the Guarani and the Christian cultures, redefined in the missionary area, that will be treated as an in-between
place. We will discuss the interpretation of the cultural practices of the Guarani, their appropriation and further representation of the Gentile Indian and the Reduced Indian. The sources that feed our approach include, in particular, the writings of Father Antonio Ruiz de Montoya, one of the pioneers of reductional experience in the region.
