Dopady ekonomické krize v sektoru stavebnictví ČR

This diploma thesis deals with the effects of the economic crisis in the construction industry in the Czech Republic during the years from 2002 to 2012. The aim is to verify the impact of the economic crisis on selected indicators in construction sector. The analysis is focused on the number of construction contracts, the number of building permits, the number of approved housing constructions , but also on employment and average wages in the construction industry. For selected models, the predictions of future observations in the years 2013 and 2014 are made. In conclusion, the recommendations for the development of this sector is formulated.

JELÍNKOVÁ, B. The financial crisis and its impact on the demand for money in the Czech Republic. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2014. This diploma thesis deals with money demand and changing motives of money holdings in the context of the financial crisis of 2007. Essence of the empirical part the econometric analysis of time series based on an estimate multivariate regression models to identify variables influence the demand for money in the period before the financial crisis and after the financial crisis. The estimated models are subjected to stability testing through CUSUM test. The results of the empirical analysis are the basis for determining recommendations for monetary policy makers.

The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the financial performance of SMEs in the Czech and Slovak Republic in the years 2003-2012. Slovak economy is from all EU Member States historically and structurally most similar to the Czech one. The year 2004 was crucial for both countries and also characteristic because of accession to the European Union. Both countries before 2009 had been using their own currency, but Slovakia separated from this direction and joined the euro area. This period is associated with unpleasant events in the world and therefore the economic crisis. The Czech Republic has committed to join the European Union to become a part of the Eurozone. The regression analysis used in empirical part of thesis provides the results of impact of the crisis on SMEs, especially for two observed countries to be able to compare development in the Czech Republic with the development of Slovakia, who entered this period with a common European currency.

Another part is trying to capture the effect of parameters of the tax systems on selected macroeconomic indicators (GDP, investment, savings, foreign direct investment).

Dubová, M. Impacts of the present economic situation on companies operating in the construction sector. Diploma thesis. Brno, 2015. This diploma thesis deals with the effects of the present economic situation on companies operating in the construction sector in the Czech Republic. Thesis is focused on the period from 2004 to 2014. The aim of the thesis is at first analyse the sector with the aid of PEST method and identifying the macro factors that may affect the sector. As next is evaluated the present situation in the sector with the aid of basic building indicators and after that are tested dependencies between economic indicators and building industry. The analysis refers of the number of construction contracts, the number of building permits, the number of employed in construction and others. In the following part of thesis is evaluated the situation of selected companies operating in the sector on the basis of profit and economic value added.

The theoretical part is focused on this topic. The aim of the practical part is to, based on the findings from the theoretical part, evaluate economic situation of the selected company in the year 2009 by financial analysis and to assess its reaction to this crisis period. The results of the selected company are compared to results of a significant competitor as well as to the whole industrial sector results.

Geneticky modifikované potraviny a jejich potenciál, rizika a etika

Diploma thesis is focused on the genetically modified crops and their ethical aspects. At the beginning there were summarized existing findings about transgenic crops, biotechnologies and mechanisms of modification. Next step was the evaluation of legislation, which is valid not only for the Czech Republic but also for European Union. By the comparative method there were assessed positive and negative sides of a genetically modified food, which were followed by the questionnaire survey to find out a general awareness about GMO. The hypothesis was formulated that a genetically modified food is a solution of current food crisis. The hypothesis was confirmed, but with serious reservations. Results showed that GMO are perceived rather negatively and sceptically despite its indisputable advantages and a potential perceived in the Czech Republic and EU. This view is caused by not sufficiently conclusive scientific results concerning negative effect of this food on the human health.

This thesis deals with the financial crisis and specifically analyze the impact on the Czech economy. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical part and self analysis. Each part is divided further into two parts. The first part deals with the theory of macroeconomic indicators that describe the performance of the national economy. Described here is the gross domestic product, inflation, employment and unemployment, further indebtedness, foreign trade and balance of payments. The second part deals with the theory of the business cycle, its different types and phases. The end of the theoretical part is devoted to the definition of the word crisis, its historical development and, ultimately, the notion of financial crisis. Own part of the thesis is dedicated to the financial crisis that hit the world in 2008. The first half own work is concerned with the emergence of the crisis in the United States and its gradual relocation to Europe The second part is devoted to the economy of the Czech Republic. Individual performance indicators of the national economy are analyzed in detail and to better illustrate the use of graphs and tables.

This diploma thesis examines political risks and long-term investments and specifically focuses on a case study of the Odessa Port Plant. The aim of the thesis is to assess the investment opportunity into this enterprise in terms of political risks within the privatization process planned to take place in 2016. The literature review presents different theoretical approaches to political risk, briefly describes its history and place in theoretical foundations of risk management and offers means of dealing with political risk in practice. The key global trends and sources of political risks are characterized in this part, which also introduces theoretical bases of political risk analysis. The main part of the thesis describes the subject of privatization in the context of its importance to the state, its market position and environmental issues it arises. Then the investor risk profile is outlined and the political risk analysis is carried out. Finally, analysis results are synthesized in a summary, which includes conclusive recommendations on the investment considering investor's risk approach.
