The study of optical characteristic by different alignment condition in the reflective Guest Host liquid crystal displayChang, Yan-zhi 25 January 2008 (has links)
The Guest Host Mode of LCD is doped the dichroic dyes in liquid crystal and it have anisotropic absorbefacient. This operation mode can produce dark or brightness to achieve display target by the electric field and this can operate in the non-polarizer type to achieve high reflectance. Because of market requirement in the e-paper display, so the reflective LCD by the guest host mode is a focal once again.
In this study, we will doped the black dichroic dyes in liquid crystal and than we fill into the homogenous alignment cell by difference rubbing direction and homeotropic alignment cell to investigate the optical-electric characteristic in the non-polarizer and polarizer type, because in the difference alignment condition can influence the behavior of dichroic dyes, and we fabricate the double cell to improve the optical-electric characteristic.
The reflective type guest host display still have many research space, like dope the dichroic dye in PDLC(polymer dispread liquid crystals) or cholesteric liquid crystal to achieve flexible and bistable characteristic.

TFT-LCD industry had been developed rapidly in Taiwan. Our value of output in FDP field was became the world first in 2007,it was one of the most important industry that drive economic advancement in our country. In order to keep the competition in TFT-LCD industry,to produce the relative components and material locally is the must way in the future.And many manufacturers strengthen their relationships with the component suppliers positively to reduce the production cost and enhance their ability of vertical integration.
The purpose of this research is to study the benefit of vertical integration in TFT-LCD industry.We discuss the definition,types,the motive and benefit in the part of theory and use it as the foundation of case study.In the part of case study,we took CMO as our object to study the vertical integration relationship between the vendors in supply chain. By collecting the secondary material and case interview to get the information to analyze the present situation and the future tendency of vertical integration in CMO. We generalize some conclusions as follows.
1.Cost is the key factor of vertical integration in TFT-LCD industry.
2.Technique independence is the key factor of vertical integration in TFT-LCD industry.
3.Stable supply is key factor of vertical integration in TFT-LCD industry.
4.Special area of TFT-LCD industry could strengthen the benefit of vertical integration.

<p>For this project I was planning to construct a clock that could be synchronized with an external source. The clock should be able to keep the time between synchronizations as these may be sparse. It also needed to be able to store the current time in a memory and keep a register of stored times. The current time and the register must be viewable by the user and the clock must also have the ability to count down the last five seconds prior to a minute selected by the user. I have performed this work at home with my own equipments.</p><p>As an external source for the synchronization I have chosen the DCF-77 clock signal broadcasted from Germany. To receive this signal I used a cheap AM receiver built specifically for this purpose. For the actual clock I used a PIC microcontroller which I programmed in C. The chip had all I needed including an oscillator and a RAM memory. I also connected a 3x16 character LCD display to the clock as well as 4 1-pole buttons for the user interface.</p><p>The program is built upon an interrupt routine that with help of an internal timer is set to execute once every hundreds of a second. During this interrupt routine all other functions are executed. These functions include a DCF decoder, an internal clock to keep the time, an LCD driver and a user interface.</p><p>I have managed to read the clock signal from the receiver but due to interferences from the computer I used to program the PIC chip, I have not been able to get any good reception close to the computer. Apart from this setback the clock works as it should and it meets all other criteria.</p>

This thesis presented an empirical study exploring the performance of TFT-LCD industry through vertical integration in value chain. Statistical analysis methods were adopted to examine the performance of TFT-LCD industry. The following theories of the profit pool and DuPont financial analysis approach, supplemented by competitive strategies, vertical integration, value chain and profit pool theory literature, from the industry overview and key aspects of the value chain Profit distribution and changes in the degree of value chain integration impact on the profitability of panel makers.
In this research, we focused on the different segment of the TFT-LCD value chain (color filters, polarizers, backlight module, driver IC and panel manufacturing). We used three financial performance indices of these companies between 2005 and 2009,namely ROE (Return on Equity; ROE), return on total assets (Return on Asset; ROA), operating margin (Return on Sales; ROS) such as most scholars commonly used financial indicators as measurement tools observe all aspects of the value chain profit changes. Finally from the perspective of profit pool and vertical integration strategies to examine whether TFT-LCD panel manufacturers could use an integration strategy as a way to improve their performance on operating profit margin and lower the risk.
The results are as follows: the value of different levels of vertical integration, panel makers will do the performance of the operating profit margin have different effects, with the active dwell Taiwan¡¦s TFT-LCD industry up the value chain integration, is indeed closer to or exceed the Korea TFT-LCD maker, but with the TV panel sales with a gradual increase in the proportion of the panel sales , sales channel became a key factor in whether or not profitable. Therefore, the panel makers may be able to consider more closer cooperation with the player of home appliance industry and downstream continuing down the value chain to make the direction of integration efforts.
