I can’t sing this, could we change the key? : A study of singing teachers’ views on music theory within the frames of singing lessons.

Backman, Lisa January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine voice teachers’ views on and work with music theory in singing lessons. The study’s research questions concern how voice teachers construct their views on the subject music theory within the framework of the singing lesson and how voice teachers construct their work with music theory within the framework of the singing lesson. To examine this semi structured interviews were held with four singing teachers working in high school. The theoretical framework of the study is discourse theory with some inspiration from discourse psychology. The interviews were recorded via audio recording and were then transcribed and analyzed. The analysis was conducted with tools from the chosen theoretical framework. In the result the six discourses found are presented, also presented is the fact that they conflict with each other in pairs of two: music theory as a necessary tool for singing versus music theory as an unnecessary tool for singing, music theory as the voice teacher’s responsibility versus music theory as other teacher’s responsibility and music theory as not dependent on another instrument versus music theory as dependent on another instrument. The result also shows that different discourses can exist collaterally within the same conversation with a singing teacher. Furthermore, the result shows how the respondents, on the basis of the discourses, work with music theory during their lessons and how they give home assignments in music theory. In the discussion the discoursive battles presented in the result are discussed in relation to the theoretical framework as well as previous literature and research.

This study describes the construction of a digester and a garden that can be used in practical lessons in biology in an attempt to integrate the "State School Dr. Avelino Aparecido Ribeiro", located in the municipality of Iaras, State of Sao Paulo, and your community. Participants of this study were students from two classes in first year of high school, each with 25 to 20 students, totaling therefore 45 participants. The fact that the research be carried out in two different rooms allowed for the exchange of data obtained by the research professor so we could investigate whether the practical classes in Biology teaching promotes student learning compared to didactic and methodological proposals for the Traditional Education. The organization of this thesis was based on the constructivist framework Juan Ignacio Pozo. The author describes the importance of teaching and learning process consider three types of content: procedures, concepts and attitudes and, from this framework, we seek to achieve the objectives proposed in this dissertation: 1- Investigate the learning scientific concepts through practical activities and theoretical and; 2- Compare the acquisition of learning between two high school classes whose classes taught were based on didactic sequences arranged from various resources and strategies. The practical actions developed in biology classes analyzed, when associated with theory, gave students the construction of scientific knowledge, procedures and attitudes, which features a more systemic learning, from which students can take ownership of the knowledge acquired in different contexts beyond the school environment.

Repensando a integração sul-americana

Araujo, Assilio Luiz Zanella de January 2013 (has links)
The dissertation has an ambitious intention: it aims at rethinking the model of economic integration in South America. The method chosen for such task was to analyze and extract lessons of other experiences of economic integration to define a reflection regarding this process in the region. In this direction, the dissertation was divided into three chapters, along with a brief introductory chapter and the final considerations. Chapter 2, “General Considerations and Theories on Regional Economic Integration”, presents some conceptual definitions and a brief revision of the theories on regional economic integration. The intention of this initial chapter is mainly to “clear the ground” for the analysis of the subsequent chapters. Once this is done, in chapter 3, “Lessons of the Recent International Experiences: European Monetary Union, NAFTA and Financial Cooperation in the East Asian”, the main international experiences of integration are analyzed, presenting basically the rationality, the basic logic of functioning and the results reached by each one of them, in such way to infer in the end some lessons for South America. Chapter 4, “Lessons of the Past Initiatives of Integration in South America: a Concise Analysis of the Way from ALALC to UNASUL”, presents a historical summary of the initiatives of economic integration in South America, following, essentially, the same structure of the previous chapter. Finally, in the final considerations, in light of the lessons extracted in the previous chapters, some comments are made on the effective integrationist initiatives in the region.
