Extracting Maintenance Knowledge from Vehicle Databases

Krishnamaraja, Magesh January 2014 (has links)
Every vehicle or truck manufacturer maintains databases regarding the service information oftheir vehicles. In this thesis, two vehicle databases: Vehicle Specification Database andMaintenance Service Database are analyzed and compared. The purpose is to explore theconnection between vehicle specification and vehicle maintenance needs. The approach is touse different clustering algorithms(Hierarchical, K-means, Spectral), distance measures (PositiveMatching Index and a modified Positive Matching Index), cluster validity measures(Rand Index,Jaccard Index) and data representations(Binary, Frequency) on these databases to determinethe important maintenance related specification attributes and their relation to differentservice problems (e.g. engine, brake, clutch) The clustering results indicate that there is arelation between vehicle specification and vehicle maintenance profiles. Different data miningrules that connect vehicle specification with vehicle maintenance needs are derived from theclustering results.

The objective of this research was to determine the responses to Japanese quails and the elaboration of mathematical models for the determination of the levels of lysine, threonine, tryptophan and methionine + cystine water intake. Four experimental trials were carried out using 392 Japanese quails Posture peak in each test. The trials were designed entirely at random, with seven treatments and seven replicates composed of seven birds. Treatments consisted of increasing levels of each amino acid test. Proposed lysine levels ranged from 0.402 to 1.409%, met + cis from 0.347 to 1.155%, threonine from 0.254 to 0.845% and tryptophan from 0.089 to 0.296% of the test amino acids. These levels were established to understand all requirements (maintenance, response and stability or response plateau). For each amino acid a control level was studied in order to confirm the limitation of the respective amino acid test. The experimental period was seven weeks, three of them being adapted and the other four for elaboration of the factorial model. In this period, the consumption of feed, egg production, egg weight and body weight were monitored. The variables studied were feed intake (g), test amino acid consumption (g / bird / day), mean egg weight (g), egg mass (g) and bird weight (g). The production responses were adjusted by the broken line model and factorial model to fractionate the maintenance and egg production requirements, as well as to calculate the level to optimize the egg mass of the population. In addition, the amino acid requirements of the Reading Model were estimated. The broken line model estimated the maximum response for egg mass of 9.67; 9.31; 9.49 and 10.37 g / d for Lys, Thr, Met + Cys and Trp, respectively. The values of m determined by the monomolecular function were 156, 64, 176 and 47 mg / Bwkg0.75 per day and the values of a determined by the dashed line with two slopes were 21, 17, 15 and 4 mg / g for Lys , Thr, Met + Cys and Trp. Amino acid intake, egg mass (EO) and body weight (BW) were used to adjust the Reading Model parameters. Based on the parameters, the exact and simulation equation method was applied considering 10,000 birds. The optimum economic recommendation based on the exact equation was 308, 231, 189 and 65 mg Lys, MetCys, Thr and Trp per day, respectively. Applying the simulation the recommendation for Lys, MetCys, Thr and Trp was 287, 219, 181 and 63 mg per day, respectively. / CNPq: 141920/2013-0 / CNPq: 141748/2016-8

Reducing CLABSI Rate Among ICU Patients

Walker, Rita L. 01 January 2018 (has links)
Approximately 55% of intensive care unit (ICU) patients require the use of a central venous catheter (CVC). CVCs are often an essential component of care; however, CVCs can create avenues for pathogens to enter the bloodstream and cause a central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI), which can lead to increased mortality and morbidity, prolonged length of stay, increased cost of care, decreased patient satisfaction, and increased workload. In 2017, the CLABSI rate at the project site was 4.3 per 1,000 catheter days as compared to the national rate of 0.8 per 1,000 catheter days. Based on Piaget's theory of constructivism, a simulation-based staff educational program was developed and implemented by ICU staff (n=20). Following the implementation of the simulation-based program, adherence to CVC maintenance guidelines improved from 41.5% to 87.9%. A sample t-test showed that this improvement was statistically significant and the CLABSI rate declined to 1.24 per 1,000 catheter days in the 4-week period following implementation of the program. Findings show that introducing a simulation-based training program might help to reduce CLABSI rates in the ICU setting and contribute to positive social change by improving health outcomes in ICU patients with a CVC.

The clean break principle

Singer, Jill Hilary 01 1900 (has links)
This short dissertation briefly examines the English law statutory provisions and the English judicial approach relating to the clean break principle. A comparison between English law and South African law (in particular s 7 of the Divorce Act 70 of 1979) shows the latter to allow the application of the clean break principle, but rigidity in the legislative wording and further rigidity in the wording by the courts result in the clean break principle not being a dominant feature of South African divorce law. A detailed analysis of South African case law follows in which the fundamental issues relative to the clean break principle are examined, namely the one third rule, universal partnership, misconduct and its effect on court orders, the nature of a contribution and what property is distributed on divorce. Trends in maintenance orders are looked at and how these affect the clean break principle, in particular rehabilitative maintenance and token maintenance wards. / Law / LL.M.

Výdaje na veřejnou zeleň v závislosti na různé parametry obcí v ČR za rok 2011 / Expenses for Public Green Space as a Function of Various Parameters of Municipalities in the Czech Republik for 2011

Mrkvičková, Ivana January 2012 (has links)
Greenery in towns and cities are an important part of our lives and influences us in many positive ways. In the Czech Republic, the establishment, restoration and maintenance of public green areas within the competence of municipalities. As with every other public service there arises a problem with the quantity and quality of its provision. This paper deals with the relationships that developed in 2011 between spending on public greenery and various parameters of the municipalities. These relations are implemented by means of two hypotheses. The first is based on economies of scale, and assumes that the larger the municipality, the smaller expenses should be provided for public green areas per inhabitant. The second hypothesis is based on the work of Carruthers and Úlfarsson (2008) and says that a higher the population density reduces the per capita expenditures of city govenments. The validity assessment of the hypotheses is done by use of the statistical method of regression analysis. This, however, did not confirm the validity of any of them. Thus there is no indirect relationship between the size of the municipality or population density and public expenditures on green areas per capita. The reason why there is no relationship lies primarily in the great freedom of decision-making of individual municipalities, as far as public green is concerned.

The law giveth and the law taketh away : Marriages out of community of property excluding accrual post 1984/88

Welsh, Shirley Anne Vera 11 1900 (has links)
Because women are predominantly responsible for childcare, men are the primary income earners. Having acquired the marital assets, on divorce the husband would retain them in a marriage out of community of property. The wife would be left deskilled, financially dependent, with little likelihood of receiving spousal maintenance and with no marital assets. In 1984 the Matrimonial Property Act and in 1988 the Matrimonial Property Law Amendment Act introduced a judicial discretion to equitably redistribute marital assets in certain marriages out of community. This dissertation argues that the bases for the limitation of the judicial discretion to women married before a certain date are unsound and that the limitation arguably violates the equality clause of the Constitution. / Law / LL.M.
