Strategies for establishing a new successful brand on the Swedish market / Strategier för att etablera ett nytt framgångsrikt varumärke på den svenska marknaden

Maluszynska, Anna, Torstensson, Kristina January 2004 (has links)
Background: Companies establishing a new brand on the Swedish market have to face competition from already established brands. This makes it interesting to investigate which branding strategies companies use in order to establish a new successful brand. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to investigate which branding strategies companies should use in order to establish a new successful brand on a competitive Swedish market. Research method: The study was realized with the help of five qualitative interviews. These interviews were conducted at five diverse companies possessing recently established brands on a competitive Swedish market. Results: Our investigation has lead to the formation of a model, which depicts the most important factors for the strategies that companies should use in order to establish a new successful brand on a competitive Swedish market. We have found that the starting point for these strategies should be the brand motto for product brands and the business concept for corporate brands, from which the core values and the positioning strategies should be derived. In order to communicate the brand to the market, the brand name is an important factor which should preferably be unique. The distribution is also an important factor for this communication, since the distributor is the ambassador who mediates the brand to the customer. The market communication in turn should in the first place consist of unconventional channels such as editorial text when possible. For companies possessing a large marketing budget, brand building commercial, for instance TV-commercial should also be invested in. The marketing communication serves as a means to gain good customer relationships. Finally, it is important to have a consistent branding strategy as well as an internal loyalty toward the brand.

Jonsson, Emelie, Straschmann, Pauline January 2010 (has links)
This study will focus on the fund raising market and what characteristics that can be found in marketing in this market. The donations to fund raising organizations has increased lately and therefore we found it interesting to study how their marketing has developed over time and what risks that can be found. When talking about marketing in fund raising organizations it’s difficult to not include the donors. Therefore have we also studied what value creates for the donors and how the organizations work to gain their trust. We have used a qualitative approach based on six interviews. The respondents have been chosen after their expertise in the subject. Because of the qualitative approach used in this essay, it’s difficult to give a complete picture regarding the last two chapters, analysis and conclusions. Therefore, we recommend these two chapters for further reading. Fund raising organization, marketing, market communication, value creation, brand and positioning.

How to evaluate a market segmentation process : A study on behalf of Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget

Rubertsson, Johan, Unger, Alexander January 2011 (has links)
Background A widely used concept within marketing is market segmentation, which companies use to create value. Many researchers have focused on different approaches to market segmentation and the segmentation process, but little attention has been given to how one can evaluate such a process. The thesis is written on behalf of the Swedish company Svenska Cellulosa AB that is currently working on a market segmentation project for their baby products category. Purpose The purpose of this thesis is to develop a standardized process for evaluating and measuring the value of a segmentation process. The evaluation process will then be used to give recommendations to SCA on how they can evaluate their own segmentation process. Method To better understand how companies utilize market segmentation, but also how and if they measure the value of such a process, this thesis is conducted using a qualitative approach. The authors chose to collect the primary data through interviews with selected companies. The information gained from the interviews was then used to build three case-studies. The secondary data was collected from reviewing both scientific journals and textbooks concerning the relevant topic. The interviews were further analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques and based on the analysis a segmentation evaluation process was then developed. Conclusion The authors have found some common denominators among the case study companies on how they utilize segmentation to create value. However, none of the companies had developed a structured process to evaluate their segmentation process. By matching the case study findings with the frame of reference in relation to the research purpose the authors were able to develop a standardized segmentation evaluation process. This process was then used to give recommendations to SCA regarding their segmentation project.

Basic concepts about the wine world and its psyche have been followed. Since wine bottles are very similar, the main differentiation factor is the label and its function is to convince the consumer at the point of sale. The label is the "seller", the "last chance" to motivate consumers to take the wine bottle in their trolley. The way this component and its content are developed under graphic and symbolic points of view has been the focus of this qualitative study, applying as methodology in the first two sections bibliographical and documentary references. In the third chapter, an analysis of the labels’ graphic and symbolic content from an intentional sampling has been developed. Finally, an empirical experimental research of some wines together with tasters has been conducted to evaluate if the labels’ perception and identification could generate different ratings after a first blind tasting / Compreender as estratégias comunicacionais e simbólicas adotadas no desenvolvimento de rótulos das embalagens de vinho com foco em sua exposição no ponto de venda foi o objetivo geral deste trabalho.

We live in a society marked by intense consumption in real time and not restricted by distances. To keep alive this pace of consumption, companies try to stimulate the market through a type of advertising that incorporates in its language features of urgency and immediacy observed and extracted from society. From a social perspective, this thesis discussed the presence of the time element in contemporary life and its appropriation by marketing communication. The research developed based on the method of content analysis studied more than three hundred television commercials and about two hundred printed advertisements which presented solid evidence of this appropriation of the culture of urgency and immediacy by market communication. This emphasis on the urgent and on the immediate strengthens and stimulates the existing social model. In other words, the sum of a lifestyle that worships speed with the presence of such elements in the market communication contributes to the promotion of a dictatorship of the now, based on the promise of instant gratification. These elements that characterize contemporary society are, from the commercial point of view, effectively appropriated by market communication as this contemporary social condition, when transformed into selling points, contributes to cause a state of harmony with the consumer s cognitions. A ênfase no urgente e no imediato reforça e estimula o modelo social vigente.

We analyze the communication process in the face of new economic and techno-social interactions, from a vision of consumption meanings and a displacement of the marketing needs for a marketing sense. We develop a single case study of the Lego brand, a literature review, qualitative surveys of interactions on websites, content analysis and qualitative analysis in blog forum for consumers of the brand. Thus, we conclude that market communication plays a unifying role in the symbolic constructions of branding in organizations and that economic and timeless easy to share events via the internet reframes the brand image on a paper of symbolic exchange on the online networks.

A COMUNICAÇÃO MERCADOLÓGICA NA SOCIEDADE EM REDE: apropriação da cultura participativa pela publicidade / The marketing communication in the network society: ownership of participatory culture by advertising

No. of bitstreams: 1 JORGE VAN DAL.pdf: 806217 bytes, checksum: f298e1b536452fcce562ef0f392ef02a (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-04-15 / The advertising market is experiencing a major transformation in a short time and has had to learn to deal with an audience that act and interact with brands, and more than a means of communication, seeking ways of relating. Becomes extremely important to reflect on the most appropriate forms of advertising that are relevant to this new scenario. This work aims to understand how advertising is appropriating the participatory culture in socio-technical context of the network society. For this method was used as the literature and case study of campaign by Stella Artois beer, called The King of Cannes. It was noticed that the said campaign reinforces participatory advertising, unlike traditional interruption-based advertising. This case exemplifies the possible changes in advertising practices that must go hand in technological expansion, the convergence of media and the relationship with the consumer public, taking into account the practical access mediated communication technologies that enable consumer relations and exchanges with organizations in the cyberspace environment.

Ricardo Zagallo Camargo 29 June 2009 (has links)
Through the study of conflicting discursive formations this work aims at understanding how corporate discourse on social responsibility is constructed, taking into account its potentialities and limitations. It discusses the heterogeneity of dialogic voices and the constitution of the enunciative scene in an effort to outline how meaning is produced within such discourse. These objectives were attained by applying the methodology of Discourse Analysis (DA), particularly the French tradition in this field, to three types of data: journalistic texts, especially those from the business media; a series of documents (reports on social impact) from an organization widely known for its environmental concern; and interviews with professionals involved with social responsibility policies in large organizations. The results indicate that corporate discourse on social issues is constituted by two opposing discursive formations, one managerial and the other political. Its identity is defined by negation and construction of marketing simulacrum, by philanthropy, and above all by conflict as the political path to deal with social issues.
