Analýza stereotypů v cestovatelských pořadech vybraných států subsaharské Afriky / Analysis of stereotypes in tv travel shows of selected states of sub-Saharan Africa

Ferreira de Sousa, Natalie January 2020 (has links)
This thesis aims to analyze stereotypes in Czech TV travel shows with a focus on the region of sub-Saharan Africa. The chosen form of research is a content analysis, divided into three parts: thematic, visual, and textual. Thematic analysis focuses on the selection of topics. Visual on how the camera processes the story and the text part analyzes the keywords. Selected programs that were used for this research are three TV travel shows of Czech production: Objektiv, Cestománie, and Koření. All three programs show that the tendency to portray sub-Saharan Africa outside of the news is rather stereotypical, and Africa's unified media presentation highlights recurring themes: political instability, poverty, or a beauty of African nature.

Cleavage politics and Europeanisation-induced transformation of the national political space - the case of the Czech Republic

Stahl, Cosimo January 2014 (has links)
Bibliographic note STAHL, C. (2014): Cleavage Politics and Europeanisation-induced transformation of the national political space - The Case of the Czech Republic, 94 p. Master thesis, Charles University, Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of International Studies. Supervisor: doc. PhDr. Jiří Vykoukal, CSc. Abstract This research seeks to map the national political space and assess the prevailing cleavage patterns in the Czech Republic. Processes of globalisation and Europeanisation have left their imprint in Western Europe - splitting the electorate into winners and losers of globalisation and denationalisation. This demarcation vs. integration magnet is also relevant in the CEE region - altering and reshuffling the underlying structure of party competition and EU contestation. By employing quantitative content analysis of print media the prevailing issue and cleavage dimensions will be reconstructed both during early stages of democratic transition (1996 Parliamentary elections) and after the 2004-EU-enlargement (2010 elections). While the political discourse and politics in the 1990s are primarily structured by issues of economic transition and post-communist transformation (underlying the classical socio-economic cleavage between market and state), in 2010 also cultural and post-materialist political...

This thesis examines articles in the newspapers using quantitative content analysis on this topic appearing between March- December 2015. The theoretical section consists of two chapters; first dealing with the media image and the design of the media mechanism and second, introducing the terminology of migration and migration policy. The Thesis also includes the contextual information, capturing and describing the European migration crisis on the basis of these findings and constructed in the design research. The analytical part incorporates knowledge of quantitative analysis and research positions A. Babis. The conclusion answers the research questions that are for the purpose of writing this paper. Hur tandvården framställs i pressen och dess påverkan på allmänhetens förtroende - Media innehållsanalys

Abdelghani, Omar, Salih, Hevy January 2019 (has links)
Aim:The aim of this study is to investigate how Swedish dental care is represented in the media, since it is an important factor that can affect the public's trust in dental care.Material & method:To investigate what was written and how much was written in both general and negative sense about dental care in the Swedish press between 2007 - 2018, two source selections were used. One selection was called the broad source selection and included all Swedish editorial press in retriever's media archive. The second source selection was called the limited source selection and included only six powerful sources. The material was analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively using Media content analysis. Result:The overall publicity on dental care in general sense was at its most 2008, thereafter it decreased at a steady pace. The negative reporting has been uneven with clear increases in some years that can be attributed to specific events relating to dental care. In the negative reporting it was written about dentists who got rid of their license and that in dental care there is carelessness, malpractice, over-treatment and cheating. But mostly, it was written negatively about the functioning of the dental care system and that dental care is expensive. Conclusion:By comparing available customer satisfaction and trust measurements with the negative and general media reporting, we were unable to conclude that media reporting has affected public trust between 2007-2018. We found, among other things, that when it was written negatively about dental care, criticism was mainly directed at private dental care, despite this trust and customer satisfaction levels were higher for private dental care compared to public dental care during the same period. Further studies are needed to investigate how media reports affects peoples trust in dental care.

Nová, Alena January 2016 (has links)
This diploma thesis strives to find an answer to the question of how the regional daily paper Pravda published by the West-Bohemian Regional Committee of KSČ in Pilsen informed about the principal events of the year 1989, namely the series of January demonstrations in the centre of Prague later called "Palach Week", about the Several Sentences Petition published in the midyear by Charter 77, about the demonstrations organized on the occasions of the 21 August 1968 and 28 October 1918 anniversaries, and about the "Velvet Revolution" that put an end to the more than 40-year reign of the Communist Party (KSČ) in Czechoslovakia. The thesis also ascertains to what extent the information provided by Pravda was distorted by the regime propaganda, and compares the approach of this daily paper to informing about the principal 1989 events with that of the central KSČ daily Rudé právo. The diploma thesis also describes the way of how the West-Bohemian Regional Committee of KSČ in Pilsen assessed the development of the political situation in the country in the year 1989 and how it controlled the Pravda daily paper. Reflexe výskytu a podmínek zařazování sociálních témat do zpravodajských reportáží regionálních televizí / Occurence reflection and seletction criteria of social issues in the regional television reports

KRONIKA, Ondřej Alexandr January 2013 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the incidence of social issues in news reports, broadcasted by regional television stations operating in the South Bohemia Region from 2009 to 2012. Mixed research was used to investigate the number and content of the reports (quantitative part of the research) that are related to the social sphere. The research, according to number of reports, defines their ratio to other topics. Content analysis then examines what topics of social work are preferred by the media. Information subsequently served as the basis for interviews with the editors ? in chief of the surveyed television stations (qualitative part). Respondents in their statements make clear running of television stations and the criteria by which selected topics for coverage are selected, as well. Besides editor ? in chiefs´ attitudes towards the presentation of social work in the media, the interviews publish factors than can promote the presentation and vice versa the criteria that act against mediation of social issues. Within the framework of the ethical dimension of work, the interview also focuses on issue, if an editor´s personal belief, regarding the importance of presentation of social topics, can influence the occurrence of this issue in the news, despite professional standards and values that do not support such kind of presentation. Interview can find out whether editors do not feel a dilemma or what is decisive, in preference to either personal attitudes or professional standards. As a form of the thesis was picked out a form of a theoretical work. This work is, in independent chapters, devoted to just the areas of ethics, social work and media. A chapter that deals with the direct relationship between social work and media forms a theoretical part of the thesis, as well. Besides the definition of basic concepts, theoretical part provides a background for research, presents some research files, categories for investigation and also arguments for the formulation of hypotheses.

Reprezentace problému klimatických změn v tištěných médiích / Representation of the problem of climate change in the print media

Trunečková, Daniela January 2015 (has links)
This diploma thesis on Representation of the problem of climate change in the print media is a content analysis of Czech quality daily newspapers, namely Hospodářské noviny, Lidové noviny, Mladá fronta DNES and Právo. It deals with the way the selected daily newspapers presented debate on global climate change in 2013-2014. The theoretical part informs readers about the basic concepts and definitions and introduces them to the problem. The empirical part answers the question of whether the media coverage of global climate change in Czech quality daily newspapers is consistent with scientific findings of the international climate discourse represented by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) or whether it relies equally on opinions of the small group of so called climate skeptics who question the general consensus of the scientific comunity regarding the causes and consequences of climate change or the need of adequate measures. The results of research indicated that most of analyzed articles informed about climate change the same way as the main climatological research. The largest number of skeptical articles appeared in Lidové noviny. A considerable number of articles didn't comment on the causes of climate change, their seriousness or decisions regarding action.
