Porovnávacia analýza českých a nemeckých stanovísk k riešeniu európskej migračnej krízy v roku 2015 / A comparative analysis of the Czech and German positions on solving the European migrant crisis in 2015

Szantová, Ivona January 2015 (has links)
The question of increasing immigration and refugee pressure in Europe has become a sensitive political and economic issues, and also subject to ideological conflicts, not only in countries that face this phenomenon most intensively, but also in those member states that are not considered to be typical immigrant states such as the Czech Republic. While during the previous crisis in the eurozone and the Greek debt crisis the division of the EU to the north and south could be observed, migrant crisis in 2015 divided the EU in another way. It is rather excessive compassion of the West on one side and xenophobic attitude of Eastern European countries on the other. Diploma thesis will examine the similarities and differences of opinions on solving the migrant crisis between the two EU member states, which represent these two ideological poles, Germany and the Czech Republic, with the regard to their international legal obligations, obligations of membership in the EU and protection of their own national interests. It will also examine what influences the formation of these opinions and what role can the phenomenon of migration crisis play in the building or a change of state identity.

Statistické metody v demografickém prognózování / Statistical methods in demographic forecasting

Šimpach, Ondřej January 2013 (has links)
Dissertation thesis creates a complex and modern scheme for stochastic modeling of demographic processes, which is universally applicable to any population in the world. All calculations are described in detail on the data of the Czech Republic. Throughout the work the attention is drawn to the issues, that every analyst must necessarily take into account in order to obtain correct results. Data comes mostly from the Czech Statistical Office database. However, some data matrices had to be calculated for the purposes of the thesis. Particular demographic processes (mortality, fertility and migration) are modeled using selected modern approaches (ARIMA models, Lee-Carter method) and based on the constructed models these processes are forecasted to the future. Using partially projected results a comprehensive demographic projection of the population of the Czech Republic is created up to the year 2050. However, not on the basis of the current state and expert expectations of the future development, but based on sophistically projected demographic events, which are explained using the trends and main components of their previous development. This demographic projection is created in three scenarios (marked SC1, SC2 and SC3), which are made from selected optimal models, presented in particular sections of the work. One part of the thesis is also the backward retropolation of age-specific number of net migrants by sex in the Czech Republic since 1948. On its basis the analysis and prediction of the migration can be done. The thesis is a synthesis of the projections of demographic processess of mortality, fertility, and migration. Final results are confronted with three scenarios of population projections of the Czech Republic created by the Czech Statistical Office and five scenarios of population projections by Eurostat. The purely statistical approach of demographic forecasting in comparison with deterministic models and expert expectations has its positives and negatives. Therefore, the different results due to various methodological approaches are discussed and compared in the conclusion of the thesis.

Repatriace a reemigrace do Československa v kontextu poválečného období let 1918 - 1923 a 1945 - 1948 / Repatriation and re-emigration into Czechoslovakia in the context of the post-war period 1918 - 1923 and 1945 - 1948

Lacko, Miroslav January 2021 (has links)
The main research topic of our study is the issue of re-emigration and repatriation movements into Czechoslovakia after the First World War and the Second World War, in terms of comparative analysis. The study focuses on Czechoslovak executive institutions as key actors of migration movements. It analyzes their competence, financial possibilities and the objectives they pursued by promoting migration. The first part of this study defines the concept of migration and incorporates it into the postwar concept. The study also focuses on migrants (in our case re-emigrants and repatriants) and their efforts to return in Czechoslovakia. The central part contains analysis of the three most important executive state institutions - Ministry of Welfare, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These ministries carried out specific re-emigration and repatriation projects. Our study also draws attention to concepts of "home law" and "citizenship". These two concepts are compared in the third part, from the perspective of executive institutions. This part analyzes the whole process of allocation of citizenship in postwar periods. Our study seeks to answer the questions of what event initiated re-emigration and repatriation processes and what were the intentions of the involved participants. The...

Jídlo a nostalgie: etnografický pohled na ruské potravinové obchody v Praze / Food and Nostalgy: an ethnographic perspective of the Russian food stores in Prague

Prudnikova, Elizaveta January 2021 (has links)
The Russian food stores in the Czech Republic can be considered representations of the food practices for the Russian-speaking immigrant community. Despite the common notion that financial gain is a primary focus, I would like to argue that these food stores are the public spaces that link the immigrant's past and present surroundings and plays the role of the communicative bridge with their native's social network. The thesis studies the Russian food stores in Prague as a way of public space that is crucial for maintaining their cultural identity and presents as a medium during the cultural shock for the Russian-speaking immigrants represented by a common theme - nostalgia. By employing an ethnographic approach along with the discourse analysis, I attempt to demonstrate the ways of the mentioned public space being a part of the food practices for this community. The findings should contribute to the understanding of the processes and ways of assimilation in Russian-speaking immigrants, along with their national identification. Furthermore, the thesis opens a discussion regarding the accessible tools of cultural and social involvement of immigrants into the Czech community.

Vliv migrace na geografii volební podpory populisticko-nacionalistických stran: příklad strany Svoboda a přímá demokracie - Tomio Okamura / The effect of migration on electoral geography of populist-nationalist parties: the case of Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura party

Suchánek, Jonáš January 2018 (has links)
Analytical research of a migrant's presence in a certain location on election outcomes of populist-nationalist parties is a relatively new phenomena in the field of electoral geography. Media and political interest in migration and refugees has risen rapidly in the last few years and offers a broad opportunity for relevant scientific studies. This thesis stems from existing literature, that have studied such relation and focuses on the case of The Freedom and Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura Party (SPD) and on the possible influence of the share of migrants on SPD's electoral support at two different scale levels (municipalities with authorized municipal offices and individual municipalities) during the 2017 parliamentary elections. Analysing the most important groups of migrants and additionally a formed group of migrants coming from countries with either dominant or significant Muslim native population can be considered as innovative. The main goal is to discover whether the election outcomes of SPD, which stands strongly opposed to migration, differ based on the share of migrants in a certain area, or if migration does not play any role at all. Furthermore, the electoral geography of SPD is compared to the of Tomio Okamura's former party - Dawn of Direct Democracy, whose rhetoric did not focus...
