Neue FahrbibliothekGallert, Ute 21 December 2010 (has links) (PDF)

An investigation into how mobile technologies can advance service delivery for library users at the University of Pretoria Library ServicesDe Wee, Janice A. January 2013 (has links)
Mobile technologies are seen as an emerging technology that affects individuals and organizations. These technologies are becoming more affordable and accessible over time with advanced designs and computing capabilities. These technologies affect how people use and access the internet, how people create and access content or services, and how people choose to communicate. In addition these technologies have infiltrated the educational sector, and effected how educational institutions such as a university deliver services to academics, students and staff.
As these technologies are effecting educational institutions academic libraries that support such educational institutions have had to embrace these technologies by adapting and adding additional services to accommodate users. Examples of such new and emerging services can be seen through the establishment of mobile library websites, mobile library applications available for users from various types of mobile devices such as cell phones, mobile tablets, and e-readers. Libraries are adapting traditional services such as catalogues, resources and other services to be accessible and usable from such devices.
This study is focused on a South African academic library, taking a closer look at mobile library service delivery, to investigate whether library services delivered from mobile devices can enhance service delivery. The study is focused on an established mobile library website, and looks at the post implementation of the mobile library website from the perspective of Natural and Agricultural Sciences students at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. / Mini-dissertation (MIT)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / Information Science / Unrestricted

Bookmobile library services as an information ground in ManenbergShabalala, Zanele Marina January 2021 (has links)
Masters of Art / The study investigated the bookmobile library service of the City of Cape Town libraries as an information ground and the information seeking behaviour of Manenberg adult library users. The study explored the use of bookmobile services by identified information needs and information seeking behaviour of community members to identify whether the bookmobiles were able to meet them.
The study underpinned the Information Grounds Theory by Pettigrew to understand how individuals visiting the mobile library seek, acquire and exchange information while waiting for the bus as well as when they are in the mobile library.

Bibliotek på vift : En studie om mobila bibliotek med fokus på bokcykeln / Libraries on the loose : A study of mobile libraries with a focus on the book bikeJonsson, Bengt January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to explore the use of mobile libraries in Sweden, focusing on bicycle libraries. The questions proposed concern how public libraries handles such activities and how they are perceived by the libraries that engaged in them. The study maps out different types of mobile libraries and investigates how bicycle library perform and what role the mobile library plays as a tool for marketing and accessibility. The theoretical approaches are marketing analysis and discourse analysis. Methods used are text analysis of documents, interviews and observations. The results show that the mobile library is perceived as an important part of library activities, both as a tool to increase accessibly and as a marketing strategy. A library discourse that includes busses has been observed, in terms of both accessibility and marketing. Bicycle libraries is not yet included in a broader library discourse, as it is described as only a marketing activity. This is a two years master's thesis in Library and Information Science.

Mobilní systém pro rozpoznání textu na Androidu / Mobile System for Text Recognition on AndroidTomešek, Jan January 2017 (has links)
This thesis deals with creation of a mobile library for preprocessing of images with text which represents a part of a system for text recognition. The library is realized with emphasis on generality of use, efficiency and portability. The library providing a set of algorithms primarily for image quality assessment and text detection was created in this thesis. These algorithms enable a substantial decrease in volume of transmitted data and speed up and refinement of the recognition process. An example application for the Android platform able to analyze composition of foods stated on their wrappings was created as well. Overall, the library (system) simplifies development of mobile applications with focus on text extraction and analysis. The mobile application then provides a comfortable way of food harmfulness verification. The thesis offers a reader an overview of current solutions and tools available in this field, it provides a breakdown of important image preprocessing algorithms and guides him through the construction of the library and the application for mobile devices.
