Diretrizes metodológicas e validação estatística de dados para a construção de data warehouses / Methodological guidelines and statistical data validation for the construction of data warehouses

Takecian, Pedro Losco 14 August 2014 (has links)
Data integration systems that use data warehouse (DW) architecture are becoming bigger and more difficult to manage due to the growing heterogeneity of data sources. Despite the significant advances in research and technologies, many integration projects are still too slow to generate pragmatic results. This work addresses the following question: how can the complexity of DW development for integration of heterogeneous transactional information systems be reduced? For this purpose, we present two contributions: 1) The establishment of methodological guidelines based on cycles of conceptual modeling and data analysis to drive construction of a modular data integration system. These guidelines were fundamental for reducing the development complexity of the international project Retrovirus Epidemiology Donor Study-II (REDS-II), proving suited to be applied in real systems. 2) The development of a validation method of data batches that are candidates to be incorporated into an integration system, which makes decisions based on the statistical profile of these batches, and a project of a system that enables the use of this method in DW systems context.

Multimodal Transit and a New Civic Architecture

Hill, Samuel Bruce 15 July 2020 (has links)
We live in an age defined by the automobile and its infrastructure. This paradigm of movement has shaped how we live our lives, and the urban frameworks we inhabit. Cars as a form of transportation damage the environment and engender unsustainable lifestyles. They also create anti-social spaces with the infrastructure they require, and therefore their success is inverse to that of the pedestrian experience. I seek to adapt this transit paradigm with a more flexible and resilient multimodal system. My work focuses on reinvigorating a rail line in central Massachusetts and designing a modular station system that can serve as a new kind of civic architecture. The station grows and shrinks between towns of different sizes, and over time. It slots into existing communities with little disruption, and is programmatically fluid and diverse, such that an array of stakeholders become invested in its success. It also presents as a new type of civic architecture; a building that represents a larger system, while also maintaining its place in local communities.

Tankebanan. : A knowledge network for northern potential.

Lundmark, Linnea January 2020 (has links)
I have always known that I would leave my hometown. Always been told that it is too boring for a dreamer, that it is a place where all ambition wanes. None of my childhood friends stayed; we all moved towards something bigger, something better- towards opportunities. We all moved, to some degree, south. Depopulation of rural communities is not unique to Norrland but Tankebanan investigates this topic within the context of the northern inlands of Sweden, exploring its industrial history and local conditions. The project aims to create an infrastructure strengthening the social and cultural capital of the inland by generating educational, entrepreneurial and identity building activities in the region. The site of the project stretches along Malmbanan, the railway transporting iron from the industries of the inland to the ports of Narvik and Luleå. The tracks are a physical trace of the industrial history of the region and therefor a suitable location for the project that proposes three fixed nodes along the railway, each targeting one specific aspect of the knowledge network. The nodes are Creation in Abisko, Education in Kiruna and Entrepreneurship in Gällivare.Tankebanan reprograms old carbarns within the towns into hubs of activity and optimism, aiming to challenge the pessimism often connotated with the region, causing people to leave. It aims to turn struggles into challenges and encourage young people to see the potential within themselves and within Norrland. This phase of the project explores the node of Education in Kiruna, which proposes an alternative university for those who wish to obtain a degree without leaving the north. The program consists of a public library and train station, educational facilities, conference rooms and accommodation for long distance commuters. It is hosted within a modular system, relating to the module of the train car and extending the network of the rails into the building.

DIGITAL INNOVATION MAZE : A Case Study of a X-Reality Innovation Diffusion

Sjöström, Hannes, Sivakumar, Pavithra January 2023 (has links)
Digital innovation (DI) has enabled businesses to enhance their existing market offerings by integrating digital features. Despite advanced technologies, substantial marketing efforts, and global recognition, businesses can still struggle to convince customers to adopt their digital market offering. This process of spreading novel innovation is known as diffusion. In the fast-growing digital world, due to the unique characteristics of DI, traditional diffusion theories and models shows limited explanatory power, creating challenges for researchers and practitioners alike. With the aim to explore these challenges, we position our research within the IS literature with the following research question: "How and why do diffusion enablers and barriers emerge during digital innovation?". We conducted an interpretive case study of Company X, one of the world's largest consulting firms and an active DI practitioner. Our findings suggest that digital innovation diffusion can be enabled or hindered by several understudied interdependencies in its technological architecture. Furthermore, for successful diffusion, how DI distributed division of labor between layers must be effectively embedded and aligned for value in the clients' context. This study provides novel insights, exciting research avenues, and a diffusion strategy for DI practitioners.

ResPublica/Civitas Socialis – Strachotín, l. p. 2017 / ResPublica/Civitas Socialis - Strachotín

Sysel, Tomáš January 2017 (has links)
The theme of the development of the existing sports grounds was dealt with Based on a number of analyzes, visits to the site and communication with the community management, the theme of the development of the existing sports grounds was dealt with. The whole territory is up to a football field in a very maintained conditions. There are two smaller accommodation facilities, which are seasonally used mainly by schools in nature and other students, but their condition is quite unsatisfactory. The soccer field, which is the only one maintained, belongs to the existing base of soccer players - the dressing room with the clubhouse. Their condition is also somewhat aggravated. In the current spatial plan, the whole proposed area is at the interface of two areas, the first is the area of sport and individual recreation and the second is the area to be examined. Urban design is based on the location of the existing soccer field and the preservation or improvement of existing links to the surrounding area. Most of the paved areas will be overtaken. Part of the design of the development of sports activities in the village was also to find a possible solution for parking for tourists, for which there is no free space in the village. The chosen location is advantageous in that, when a parking lot will be created, it will be created near the main entrance to the village on road II. Cl. No. 420 from Hustopeče through the village. Architectonically, but also conceptually, the construction is based on the economic possibilities of the municipality, the possibilities of variability of the solution and especially of the possibilities of staging construction. The result are two buildings. One main, replacing the background of spccer players, creates the conditions for year-round training in the new gym, for going to fitness, while part of the building is a platform for the soccer field. The second building is an accommodation that replaces the existing unsatisfactory buildings. Architecturally, they are masses that are greatly affected by the modules. The building structure and the facilities of the sports hall are structurally designed from standardized modular systems, steel containers that are interconnected to create an unusual spectacle. The area of the gym is defined by a reinforced concrete skeleton. Both buildings are covered with gold anodized sheet metal, which is profiled similarly to the peripheral walls of the containers. At the same time, the object was to create year-round sports grounds that are accessible to the general public and youth.

Bydlení v bývalém továrním areálu OP Prostějov / Housing in the Former Factory OP Prostějov

Tomaňová, Zuzana January 2014 (has links)
This project is focused on the conversion of the former factory area of OP Prostejov company, which is located in the Eastern part of the city Prostejov, close to the R46 highway. OP Prostejov company bankrupted in the year 2010 and since that year the area has been falling into disrepair. I approach this area in my thesis as new polyfunctional city district, which contains places for sport, relaxing, administration, commercialism, education, culture and living. I focus especially on the living function of this area, which is located in its Eastern part. Nowadays those buildings are being gradually dismantled, most of their parts have been practically taken out but the supporting construction system still remains. The view to those naked objects (bare steel-concrete skeleton) let us to see the energy of the historical development and also the legacy of the industrial past period. That historical view became the basement of my concept. My idea is to create different flats by the combination of separate units and residential containers (see scheme of flats). The flat solutions are done in some variations (from 1+kk to 3+kk). The entrances to the flats are from the external area, with some stairs and their own garden - it means analogically to live in family house, which is the dream of many people.
