Lyrio, Fernanda Maia 05 December 2011 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-12-23T14:34:17Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Fernanda Maia Lyrio.pdf: 1091093 bytes, checksum: 6e7e3f47db061df702b455115d5db56c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-12-05 / Using some of Nelson Rodrigues dramaturgy researchers, such as Sábato Magaldi, Eudinyr Fraga, Décio de Almeida Prado and Adriana Facina; of critics and essayists on modern tragedy as Raymond Williams and Peter Szondi; and also of critics on Rodrigues tragedy, such as Carla Souto, Elen de Medeiros and Victor Adler Pereira among other researchers on this playwriter who comes from Pernambuco, the present proposal aims to put the play Álbum de Família (1945) in Brazilian dramaturgy scenario, observing the critics position about the third and most controversial theatrical Nelson Rodrigues text, as well as the multiple faces that this tragedy assumes given the complexity of its characters and of the text itself. For textual analysis, it will be used critical and theoretical apparatus of notions on tragedy and work its context in the national scenario, pointing out some appropriation which were made by the Brazilian playwriter of the gender in question, especially considering the innovations he proposed so that the concepts of ―tragic‖ and ―tragedy‖ would gain more singular outlines on this studied work. Anguish of existing in Álbum de Família (1945) is a proper example of the dichotomy between the ―I‖ and the ―other‖; hero and anti-hero, since the couple s photographs on the album, Jonas and D. Senhorinha, reinforce the influence of the ―other‖ on frustrations and impossibilities of ―fulfillment‖ of each component s ideals of an entire family structure; ―deformed‖, ―unpleasant‖, ―tormented‖ by the tragic unit of the text performed by them / À luz de estudiosos da dramaturgia de Nelson Rodrigues, como Sábato Magaldi, Eudinyr Fraga, Décio de Almeida Prado, Adriana Facina, de críticos e ensaístas acerca da tragédia moderna, como Raymond Williams e Peter Szondi, e de críticos da tragédia rodriguiana, a citar, Carla Souto, Elen de Medeiros, Victor Adler Pereira dentre outros estudiosos do dramaturgo pernambucano, a proposta apresentada visa a situar a peça Álbum de Família (1945) no cenário da dramaturgia brasileira, observando o posicionamento da crítica diante do terceiro e mais polêmico texto teatral de Nelson Rodrigues, bem como as múltiplas faces que essa tragédia assume dadas a complexidade das personagens e do texto dramático em questão.

Tragédia familiar: a formação do indivíduo burguês em obras literárias brasileiras do século XX / Familiar tragedy: the formation of bourgeois individual in Brazilian literary works of the twentieth century

Bianca Ribeiro Manfrini 03 September 2012 (has links)
Through the analysis of four brazilian writers of the 20th century José Lins do Rego, Lúcio Cardoso, Nelson Rodrigues and Raduan Nassar we try to demonstrate the singularity of the shaping of the character\'s individuality, by relating it with aspects of national history such as slavery, and also to other elements which are common to all the works studied, such as madness and incest. Our essay aims to reveal how, in the structure of each particular work, is manifested the presence of the tragic, regressive element, in which the individual is bound to a destiny that denies his self-will, turning himself into someone unable of making his own path, in a phenomenon that not only is far from the main characters of the 19th century european novels, for instance, but that also has formal consequences in the works of all the authors studied here. The aim of our thesis is to demonstrate, in the concreteness of the literary narrative, that the meaning of modern individuality and tragedy, in Brazil, is diverse from the one we find in the modern literature of central countries, given the particular aspects of our history.

Nelson Rodrigues e seus múltiplos: uma escritura performática / Nelson Rodrigues and his multiples: a performance writing

Radaelli, Patricia Barth 16 December 2016 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2017-07-10T18:56:11Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 PATRiCIARADAELLI.pdf: 953660 bytes, checksum: 372d3623f71434dc5e2c834dd57d92b0 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-12-16 / This work presents a study about the work of Nelson Rodrigues, with a focus on the indissoluble relationship among the author, the narrator and his multiples in the literary production of his chronicles and short stories. Stand out in the analysis, the historical and social resonances which are understood from the fictional work of this author, with a latent itinerary, produced more than two thousand texts, during five decades, in a transit among textual genres. From the hybridization processes in the composition of the Rodriguean narrator, it was evidenced the creation and recreation of archetypes framed by themes about love relationships, betrayal and death, bounded by tragic, mythical and psychological aspects, in a writing denominated, in this research, of Performance. In this study, excerpts from the works include: O óbvio ululante (1968), A vida como ela é...(de 1961), A menina sem estrela: Memórias (de 1967) e O reacionário: memórias e confissões (do ano de 1977) e A vida como ela é... O homem fiel e outros contos (1992). From this corpus, it was searched to explore how Nelson Rodrigues records and reflects the daily life of his time and human problems. The study was based on a qualitative bibliographical research, with a methodological basis based on analyzes of the comparative literature, with theoretical approaches that subsidized reflections on the status of the author, the narrator and the intertextual processes. Besides that it also was searched the theoretical bases of the mitochristian and the critical of psychoanalytical basis. The text is organized in three chapters. The first one that presents an approach on literature as a form of aesthetic apprehension of the real and points out aspects that evidence Nelson Rodrigues as a creative subject, with a production permeated by echoes between reality and fiction. As a theoretical source, there are the contributions of Freud (2011), Benjamin (1996), Santiago (2002), Bakhtin (2002) and Lejeune (2008). Then, a second chapter, whose purpose was to exemplify the tone of an autobiographical narrative, with retrospectives and sections of self-portrait, in time and space demarcations, trying to show how Nelson Rodrigues puts the double as a narrator character in order to transcend The "real" space, to rescue the memory, in a fictional hybrid creation, with demarcations and rites of passage of love and, mainly, death, involving figures of literature and other cultural, social and political practices. For the discussions about memory, the contributions of the triad of French authors - Ricoeur (2007), Nora (1993) and Halbwachs (2006) were used. Finally, a third chapter with the study about the different aesthetic elements present in the stories with the objective of unveiling the expressive effects of these fictional projects and analyzing how these compositions, when dialoguing with other texts, reflect an archetypal and performatic nelsonrodrigueana script; the analyzes are supported by studies by Goffman (1985) Zumthor (2005/2014). With the integration of the three chapters, it was searched to highlight the insertions of the textual and contextual structures of Rodrigues, with the interpretation of the resonances provoked by the dialogues and adaptations of the texts of Nelson Rodrigues with his context of production and with his memories / Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre a obra de Nelson Rodrigues, com enfoque para indissolúvel relação entre o autor, o narrador e seus múltiplos na produção literária de suas crônicas e contos.

The present work aims to describe and analyze Nelson Silva’s Afro-Brazilian Batuque and its members, by inserting them in the historical-anthropological discussion on race and racism in Brazil. Nelson Silva’s Afro-Brazilian Batuque is a choral, dance and rhythm group, composed by black men and women in the city of Juiz de Fora/MG, whose foundation dates back to 1964. The lyrics performed by the Batuque refer to the slavery period and the afro-brazilians situation in the nacional society, cadenced by rhythms as the moans, the “samba de roda”, the “baião”, the “maxixe”, the “maracatu”, the “maculelê”, the “jongos”, among others. Specifically, this study presents an ethnographic analysis of Nelson Silva’s Afro-Brazilian Batuque, seeking to reflect and understand how the group, in its entirety, and its members, in its particularities, present and stand before the Brazilian racial issue, from the observation of its presentations, stories, experiences, agenda. It was possible, therefore, to reach some conclusions. It is noticed that the Batuque, as a group, represents enslaved, through artistic performance and song lyrics, narrating periods of Brazilian history. In turn, its members are themselves heirs to the Brazilian and the Juizforano legacy, and, consequently, the effects of socio-cultural and historical conformation of the country and its locality. Also, we may notice a break of paradigms involving the group’s goals, as soon as its board changes from white people to black militants, reflection the black movement positions and strengthening the group’s commitment with the black cause.

This paper aims to demonstrate how the female adultery issue, that appears in the tales: A Cartomante, by Machado de Assis, and A dama do Lotação, by Nelson Rodrigues – reveals the transformation of the female identity discourse during almost a century, showing that the authors’ tales were influenced by the society changing and evolution, both in the legal and in the moral and manners field. Due to the richness theme of each tale and in order to analyze the evolution of the female identity discourse related to the historical adultery crime on Brazilian legal System, it was observed an interdisciplinary theoretical framework to guide reflections on aspects related to the female identity construction/transformation; adultery (mainly those committed by women) and the relationship between law and literature. Based on these reflections, supported by the work of several authors like Antonio Candido, Arnaldo Sampaio Moraes de Godoy, Michel Foucault, Simone de Beauvoir, among others; the paper aims to demonstrate that the literary works developed by Machado de Assis and Nelson Rodrigues in A Cartomante and A dama do lotação, respectively, suggest a certain level of conformity with the social and legal context established in Brazil at the time the texts were produced. Finally, analyzing the plots developed in the literary corpus under consideration, it is possible to explore the perfectly feasible idea that the authors creative process have been influenced by the way the society looked at the woman – in the past subjected to male domination and now potentially more independent and free.

The efficiency of service delivery in Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, wards 22 and 36

Xotyeni, Nompumelelo Caroline January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this research is to evaluate the efficiency of service delivery in specific communities, namely Wards 22 and 36, in order to assess whether residents of those communities understand the service delivery process and whether there is enough communication and relationship within the councillors and residents. It is aimed at looking at the relationship between ward councillors and the residents of the community that they are given to represent. Service delivery is something that South Africa has been battling with for years. As much as there is progress within our country, a lot still needs to be done in order to satisfy the citizens of this country. That is where the purpose of this research thus come in, it looks at what the municipality has done to assist its people in matters that are urgent, such as housing, running water and electricity, to name a few. As stated above, this research looks at the implementation, or lack thereof of the municipality, on things that they had said they would attend to in the two wards, ward 22 and ward 36.

Investigating sustainability of community gardens as a mechanism to poverty alleviation in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality

Matshotyana, Ntombizodwa January 2012 (has links)
Poverty is one of the social problems plaguing South Africa. In South Africa it is required of municipalities as entities in the socio-economic and political transformation process and agents of change, to eradicate poverty and unemployment by facilitating local economic development in their respective areas. Local economic development has to be implemented in a way that takes cognisance of the different challenges that exist within various areas and contexts. Various district and local municipalities have initiated an array of agricultural programs such as community or food gardens as aspect of their Local Economic Development strategies. In this study I investigated the sustainability of community gardens as a mechanism to poverty alleviation in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. The study focused exclusively on community gardens in Bloemendal, KwaZakhele, Motherwell and Walmer. A mixed methods research approach was employed to gather data from the community garden members and municipal official who administers the community gardens. Semi-structured interview was conducted with the municipal official administering community gardens in Nelson Mandela Bay. A structured questionnaire was used to gather data from the community garden members. Observations were made on types of crops grown in the gardens, in order to supplement and validate data collected and information gathered during interviews. Community garden members identified funding as their main challenge. Community gardens have a potential to be sustainable if the requisite support structures that need to exist to support the micro-farmers are in place.

Strategies and approaches that sustain community health committees in Nelson Mandela Bay Health District

Shugu, Yolisa January 2013 (has links)
Primary health care has been the cornerstone of South Africa's health policies since its transition to democracy in 1994. In order to optimise the effectiveness of primary health care, the South African government introduced community health committees hich were intended to facilitate primary health care at the grassroots level through community participation. As statutory bodies outlined in the National Health Act, 61 of 2003, and in provincial legislation, Community Health Committees were to be the liaison between communities and government and assist government in improving health services in communities. Since being re-established in 2010, Community Health Committees in the Nelson Mandela Bay Health District, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa have sought to fulfil this role and have remained sustainable. This research was aimed at investigating the strategies and approaches which sustain Community Health Committees in Nelson Mandela Bay Health District. It focused on eliciting information regarding the factors that sustain Community Health Committees, factors that threaten their sustainability and factors that motivate continued membership in Community Health Committees. Qualitative research methods of key informant interviews, observations and focus groups were used and analysed to identify these factors. The findings indicated that Community Health Committees struggle to remain sustainable because of various threats to their functioning. The major threat identified was the disengagement of the Department of Health in the operations of the Community Health Committees. The Department of Health was not visible; rather it was passive and unresponsive to the reports submitted by Community Health Committees on behalf of their communities and provided no re-imbursement for administration costs. Despite threats to sustainability, these Community Health Committees had commitment, passion and drive to assist with the health improvement of their communities in partnership with health facilities in their communities. Good interpersonal relationships in the Community Health Committees, good professional relationships with the health facility staff and the liaising role played by health facility management are some of the factors that contributed to sustainability. Recommendations were made at the end of the study that may assist the Nelson Mandela Bay Health District and the Department of Health to create a working environment that will be conducive to the sustainability of Community health Committees.
