Renovação Carismática Católica : continuidades e rupturas no catolicismo brasileiro (1969-2005) /

Gonzalez, Keila Patricia. January 2006 (has links)
Abstract: This study aim was to comprehend the historical trajectory of the Catholic Charismatic Renovation (RCC) in Brazil. Negociações para o convívio no catolicismo na Diocese de Nova Iguaçu RJ / Dealing for the convivial in the catholicism of the Diocese of Nova Iguaçú - RJ

João Marcus Figueiredo Assis 10 June 2008 (has links)
Buscamos apreender tal complexidade a partir dos discursos de membros de cada um desses grupos / This research approaches the relations between two phenomena of the recent catholicism, the Comunidades Eclesiais de Base (CEBs) and Renovação Carismática Católica (RCC) in the Diocese of Nova Iguaçu, located in the region metropolitan of Of the state of Rio de Janeiro called Baixada Fluminense. Our look will search to observe the points exactly where interactions, exchanges and negotiations occur that make possible the conviviality between the CEBs and the RCC in one same eclesial space. We detach three elements, the Memory to be elaborated and spread out socially, the notion of Community, which will be proclaimed as instrument for the construction of belongs eclesial and the Partner-transforming Actions of the diverse Groups, in special of the two movements above detached, as well as the interpretation that each one makes of these actions. We could perceive that the observed reality is presented more complex of what it could perceive an analysis that accented of strict form the tensions or polarizations. Catolicismo carismático brasileiro em Portugal. / Charismatic brazilian catholicism in Portugal.

Eduardo Gabriel 04 August 2010 (has links)
This work examines the international religious diffusion, investigating in details the arrival of the Brazilian community Canção Nova in Portugal, in 1998. This community was founded by Father Jonas Abib in 1978 in the Vale do Paraiba region, and belongs to the so-called RCC (Renovação Carismática Católica) Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Today, having its statutes recognized by the Holy See, Cancao Nova is one the most important charismatic communities in Brazil. The beginning of the communitys missionary works in Portugal is the current face of the Brazilian RCC: international expansion. Throughout this work, we demonstrate that this recent expansion can be classified as the fourth phase of the Brazilian charismatic movement, the previous phases being: arrival in Brazil and local expansion; institutionalization; the use of local mass media. The current phase shows the same conflicts as the phases before, with the addition of new ones, namely: confrontations of religious expression between particular cultures and broader national contexts. This will be our main point of discussion in this thesis, based on our observation Canção Nova in Portugal.

The social functions of religion in a Charismatic church in Pretoria : a case study

Tawengwa, Taurayi Tungamirayi 27 August 2013 (has links)
The objective of this case study is to explore the social functions performed by a Charismatic church in central Pretoria for its congregants and for its surrounding community. The growth of the Charismatic movement and the ‘wealth ministry’ in recent years and the subsequent notoriety of the ‘prosperity gospel,’ (especially popular within the Charismatic church movement) which encourages people to give tithes and offerings as a pre-requisite for material blessings are the fundamental motivators of the study. The study seeks to understand how the church, through its creed and sermons affects and shapes the social behaviour of its members, and its impact on socially relevant issues facing the surrounding community. The respondents are members of the church’s congregation of varying ages, nationalities and class. They were identified by making use of the snowball selection method. The key finding is that although the ‘wealth ministry’ and ‘prosperity gospel’ are generally associated with Charismatic churches, material gain is not the main emphasis of every Charismatic church’s ministry, and in fact, this Charismatic church offers its members and the community more non-material and intangible spiritual benefits. / Dissertation (MSocSci)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / Sociology / unrestricted

The Christian witness in the context of poverty with special reference to the South African Charismatic Evangelicals

Mathole, Ezekiel Mokwele Katiso 03 October 2005 (has links)
The topic of my study is: The Christian witness in the context of poverty, with special reference to South African Charismatic Evangelicals. The big challenge that I am addressing is the endemic poverty that is facing our entire nation. The issue of the Christian’s response to poverty needs to be addressed adequately. In this case, particularly, the focus is on the response of the Charismatic Evangelical Church to the plight of the poor. Poverty is more than just a theoretical theological question. Poverty is about existential problems faced by real people in their struggle for freedom from powerlessness and marginalization. Therefore, I seek to reflect on the many human faces of poverty in South Africa, highlighting the causes of poverty and the unique experiences of the poor. I am also exploring the theological foundations of the Church and its witness amongst the poor. Reading through the Scriptures one discovers the foundational principles that are imperative in defining the Church’s mission, ministry and message. This is followed by a theological reflection on key aspects of poverty eradication in the 20th Century. This includes a reflection on relief, development, transformation and sustainability. These concepts have all influenced various responses of Christians in dealing with the issue of poverty in their witness. Poverty should not continue unabated in the Christian community, the very people who received the commission to minister to the poor in their suffering from the Lord Jesus Himself. Throughout the centuries, the Church was challenged to minister to the poor in distress. The challenge has not disappeared. In our time, in our country, also in the circles of Charismatic Evangelical Christians, we are called to respond to the cry of the poor. Thus, in this study I present a brief background to the Charismatic Evangelicals in South Africa, looking at their fundamental teachings and theology, and the development of their missiological thinking when facing the realities of poverty. This is followed by their practical responses to poverty, based on a report on interviews that have been conducted with various leaders within the Charismatic Evangelical Church, which often has been accused of being apolitical and socially irrelevant. Finally, I reflect on the conclusions that I have drawn on how the Charismatic Evangelical Churches have reconceptualized their Christian Witness amongst the poor. I examine the manner in which they have pursued an empowering ministry in poor communities, and how they have consolidated their theological and practical positions in their ministry to eradicate poverty. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2006. / Science of Religion and Missiology / unrestricted

Charismatic Healing: A Phenomenological Study of Spiritual Healing in Ottawa, Canada

Pohran, Nadya January 2015 (has links)
Spiritual healing is a ubiquitous and fundamental part of Charismatic Christianity; it is indelibly linked to understandings of God, society, and individual identity. And yet, the phenomenon of spiritual healing—particularly its expression within North American, Abrahamic traditions—has been understudied within academia. In this thesis, I take a phenomenological approach in order to better comprehend the meaning-making process behind spiritual healing rituals amongst Charismatic Protestant Christians in Ottawa, Canada. Through a small-scale, local ethnographic study in Ottawa in which I conducted participant observation and several in-depth interviews, I explore Charismatic Christianity through the lens of lived religion. Based on a series of focused case studies, I conclude that the Charismatic cosmological worldview (one in which cosmic-wide restoration is emphasised) correlates with, and contributes to, the Charismatic emphasis on individual healing.

The spiritual factors influencing the health-seeking behaviour amongst the Charismatic Christians in Johannesburg

Beukes, Simone Ashley January 2021 (has links)
Health-seeking behaviour encompasses the actions, thought processes and decision-making involved in establishing and maintaining a healthy physiological state. As such, various studies have investigated the factors that influence health-seeking behaviour. Such factors included demographic, socio-economic, political, religious and cultural factors. It was however, found that there was a lack of research regarding the specific factors of Charismatic Christians that affect health-seeking behaviour, thus guiding the research question. The aim of this study was to explore the spiritual factors influencing health-seeking behaviours of the Charismatic Christians in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Through a paradigm of interpretivism, research was conducted using a qualitative approach to explore and describe how the spiritual factors of Charismatic Christians influence health-seeking behaviour. An instrumental case study design was utilised in order to gain insight into the phenomenon of health-seeking behaviour, to create recommendations to facilitate practice and to refine theory to increase health-seeking behaviour among Charismatic Christians. This was done through the use of one-to-one, semi-structured interviews with participants, who were incorporated into the study through voluntary, purposive sampling. Previous studies found various factors affecting health-seeking behaviour, amongst these were religious factors. Furthermore, there were several studies that explored the health-seeking behaviours of Charismatic Christians, however, this was mainly focused on the mental health domain. To date, little research has been done into the general health-seeking behaviours of Charismatic Christians, which indicated the gap for the research study. The findings of the study both supported and contradicted the specific factors affecting health-seeking behaviour, found in the national and international studies in the literature review. However, the study agreed with the previous studies, that spiritual factors do affect the health-seeking behaviours of Charismatic Christians in Gauteng. It can be concluded that participants are not averse to seeking professional healthcare services that are easily accessible, however, unless the symptoms are severe, participants will engage in other methods of self-care prior to seeking healthcare services. Secondly, Charismatic Christianity was found to encourage health-seeking behaviour through teachings of self-control, self-respect, and healing through medicine. Thirdly, it was concluded that in some instances, Charismatic Christianity could deter individuals from health-seeking behaviour as they have a belief in divine healing from God, thus it is not necessary for them to seek formal healthcare services. Lastly, it was concluded that participants have had limited contact with social workers in the healthcare setting, thus limiting their knowledge regarding the role of social work, however, they are willing to engage with social workers in the healthcare settings, if services adhere to ethical standards. Based on the conclusions of the study, it was recommended that the healthcare team, including social workers, be knowledgeable about the spiritual factors influencing health-seeking behaviour, as well as remain non-judgemental and allow for autonomy of patients. It was further recommended that preventative healthcare be encouraged and promoted within healthcare settings. It was lastly recommended that patients have access to information regarding symptoms and severity, to encourage individuals to seek professional healthcare timeously. / Mini Dissertation (MSW (Healthcare))--University of Pretoria, 2021. / Social Work and Criminology / MSW / Unrestricted

Rovdjur i uniform : En grundad teori om förekomsten av narcissistiskt ledarskap i Försvarsmakten / Predators in Uniform : A grounded theory about the presence of narcissistic leadership in the Swedish Armed Forces

Kamenický, Adriaen January 2021 (has links)
The overall purpose of the study is to investigate narcissistic leadership in the Swedish Armed Forces. Since research on narcissism in the Swedish Armed Forces is an unexplored area the research design has an open and unconditional attitude to the research area. This open and explorative approach is achieved through using the method Grounded Theory. The results show that the informants have experienced narcissistic leadership in the Swedish Armed Forces. In addition, the results indicate that such leadership, from a career point of view, can be competitive, but over time is doomed to fail. The empirical data illustrates examples of that military leaders with narcissistic personality traits can advance in the hierarchy and potentially cause harm to the organization. Empirical data also indicates that there are many difficulties associated with identifying narcissists in the Swedish Armed Forces. This can possibly be correlated with the fact that the traits associated with grandiose narcissism substantially overlaps with what we think of as transformational leadership. The aim of the study is relevant since destructive narcissistic leaders annually lead several companies and organizations to ruin, causing great expense and much suffering among their followers.

Athletic and mindful leaders : A signaling perspective on self-improvement amongst Swedish executives

Kollberg Dahlström, Jesper, Lindstedt, Axel January 2020 (has links)
Swedish executives are in the pursuit of self-improvement. During the last two decades, extreme athleticism, practices like meditation and visiting retreats have been an increasingly common context within this pursuit, despite being costly in terms of time or simply being perceived as extreme. In an attempt to further understand these pursuits, the study seeks to answer the research question: How are the leader’s pursuit of self-improvement influencing leadership and what does it signal? The theoretical point of departure is previous research on athleticism and mindfulness amongst executives, through the perspective of signaling theory and charismatic leadership theory. The study is qualitative in nature with an abductive approach and consists of interviews with ten executives as well as a discourse of Swedish printed press. The data have been coded using the Gioia-methodology. The empirical findings consist of nine aggregated dimensions explaining executive behavior. How they began with their practice, what health benefits they achieved, what attributes were strengthened, the positive effect on leadership, the costs of their practice, how identity is involved, their own awareness of their practice, how they believed it influenced leadership, and what their leadership aspirations were. After analysis of the pursuits, it is concluded that the pursuits signal certain underlying qualities and attributes, an identity, and competence to lead oneself and others. Through actions inspired by their pursuits, signaling is reinforced and become signals of the organization as well as the individual leader and his or her leadership.
