Stockholms pedagogiska vägg : Gatukonstpedagogik – Offentligheten som lärorumWorkshopping for public space / Stockholms pedagogical wall : Workshopping for public spaceOlsen, Rikard January 2017 (has links)
Children have a right to take part in, and shape our public space. This is something thedemocratic grown up world needs to create and manage a space for. With this study, I look atthe possibilities to create and manage such a space and what happens when I do so. Duringfive months, I have had the responsibility to follow through five projects with four preschoolsand one school, projects that seek to find methods for creating art done by children in thepublic. Responsibility comes from me being connected to the city’s district administration, and with that connection I have taken the role as a project manager to examine how thisproject could sustain for a longer period. I also examine through the eyes of being a visual artsteacher student and therefore I look at what the children choose to create with the methods Igive them. All the methods involve collective creation as the children pursue the methods ingroups and that is something that has become an interresting aspect for this thesis. With thisthesis, there is visual representation in forms of a magazine and a wall painted for thespringexhibition at Konstfack. The magazine contains pictures and text from the workshopand should be seen as an inspirational magazine for other educators. The wall that was paintedis an extention from Stockholms pedagogical wall in to the institution of Konstfack andtherefor also a democratic approach to use the well-known exhibition and let childrenparticipate. During the project, I have asked myself how I can create methods for workingwith art in the public in groups with children. The project has the subtitle workshopping forpublic space which is a wordplay that raises the question about the politics concering publicspace, I want you, the reader to think about public space and if it is something we should buyour right to use or if it is something we have the democratic right to use. Therefore, I haveused this wordplay because the projects use workshops to examine this question. The essayhas a visual representation in form of a magazine with photographs and text that shows theprocess of the didactic part. This essay, and the visual representation will hopefully give youas a reader thoughts and questions about how we can work with our public realm.

Mediernas trojanska häst : en positionsanalys av den mediekritiska genrenCarlsson, Veronica, Kyndel, Therése January 2003 (has links)

The communication and mediation of information and news has, under the latest decades, increased into an incalculable amount. In the newsflow that has come up it has become more and more urgent to sort and select the relevant and correct news. Simultaneously as the information has become one of the most important goods for the western world, the criticism against media has become more loudvoiced and especially the criticism aims at the fact that publicness has become less public and the public conversation is nowadays filtrated through media. The American Joey Skaggs can be reckoned among with the group of media critics, but his course of action and methods to reach out with his critical view, stand out strikingly from the traditional media critics. Instead of, as most, aiming the criticism against media, from an outside perspective, Skaggs chooses to attack the media from the inside. By mediating false news to the media, he intends to attract attention to the problems that is to be found in the media sphere and make the media, as well as the public, aware of them. Based on Skaggs media criticism, we have examined and analysed the media critical sphere and the media critics view on the mediated publicness.
/

Problemet med den offentliga människans förfall : En idéhistorisk studie av Richard Sennetts bok The Fall of Public ManWolgers, Sass January 2024 (has links)
The ideas of Richard Sennett in his most influential book The Fall of Public Man from 1974 are many, but the main point is that the resolution of the lines between the public life and the private life has affected society, the democracy and individuals in a negative way. The main point of this essay is to understand the nature of Sennet’s thinking, ideas and philosophy and how they are connected. I am focusing on the true nature of the way he is formulating the issues and conflicts he is dealing with. Even though Sennett is a very influential thinker, very few people actually have analyzed his works, especially The Fall of Public Man. “Res publica” is the Roman expression of the bigger responsibility each citizen has in a society that goes beyond themselves. This is when you are a part of something bigger than yourself, your friends and your family, you are a part of a close connected community and society. You are not strangers to each other, you are all one. This is exactly the type of society that sociology professor of London School of Economics Richard Sennett means has gone away. Richard Sennett is often described as a person standing on the left on the political scale when it comes to economics and at the same time culturally conservative. The result of this essay shows that Richard Sennett blames industrial capitalism, secularism and urban planning for the new modern society when the distinction between public life and private life has gone away. This is the new kind of society in the western world where people shifted focus from an extrovert personality to an introvert one, a world where we are trapped in our own minds instead of stepping out of it and actually living in it. Many times, the sociology professor goes back to the mid 18th century to understand the thriving public life in Paris and London. My theoretical perspective is based upon Collingwoods thoughts about question and answer which you need to understand the question in order to understand the thinker's answer. You could call Sennett either a nostalgic or a very sharp critic of the modern world, it all depends on how much you resonate and believe in his ideas.
