The Moringa oleifera Lam is a tree of Indian origin with several utilities in the areas of pharmaceutics, fuels, water purification and mainly food. The plant has a better development in dry climates. The culture of use as food is very broad in some African countries and with widespread expansion in Latin and Asian countries because of its rich nutritional value. In this work were realized the determination of macro and micronutrients of the internal and external wall of the bark, and seeds of two Moringa trees of the same species, but of different localities, existents in the UFRN and EAJ to determine the contents of moisture, ash, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, fiber and metals. Make a comparison between these and, if possible, compare with other analyzes made with the plant from other locations. The two samples were divided into three parts each: internal and external wall of the shell, and seeds, where they were sprayed and kept in polyethylene containers. After preparation of the samples, were carry out moisture and ash determinations, lipid extraction by Soxhlet, Proteins, by the Kjeldahl method. Fibers, with the equipment to determine fibers. Some metals (Ca, Co, Cu, Cr, Fe, Mg, Mn, Mo, Ni, K Se, Si, Na e Zn) by ICP-OES, in addition to making FTIR-ATR and TG/DSC. The results obtained showed an optimum lipid content in the seeds (29,26 - 35.83 %), while in the inner and outer wall of the shells, the contents were low compared to seeds (0,4 ? 1,2 %). Protein contents had a high value in the seeds (30,46 and 34,57%), while the internal and external walls of the peels had a much lower content (3,54 ? 6,53%). The fiber contents of the seeds (64,19 ? 70,76%), of the internal and external wall (72,18 ? 85,59%). Carbohidrate contents had a high value in the internal and external part of the bark (70,89 ? 82,72%), while in the seeds the contents were low (19,41 ? 29,09%). The metals found in the seeds of the two samples were Ca, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, K, Na and Zn and the metals found on the inside and outside of the bark were Ca, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, K, Na, Si and Zn. The mean of the results of the analyzes was submitted to the paired Student t test, with 95% significance to know if there was a significant difference or not. The results found are important for comparisons with future research for camparisons with future research, of trees of the same species from other localities and different environments, and also to elaborate a nutritional table of seeds and moringa shells for future use.

We Ga LinkL Utilizing Indigenous Methodology to Explore Mental Health with Bahamian ImmigrantsProctor, Zonovia 01 January 2024 (has links) (PDF)
As global mental health initiatives continue, the need for culturally responsive approaches to research and mental health inquiry and intervention as increasingly important. However, most counseling programs and research preparation do not include indigenous approaches to address training and clinical practice. Liming and Ole Talk has emerged as a culturally responsive methodological approach with some Caribbean populations, however, at the time of this study, it had not been used with people from the Bahamas. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to continue to explore Liming and Ole Talk as a pathway to inquiry with Caribbean people leading to the research question; how do Bahamian immigrants experience liming and ole talk as a approach to mental health inquiry? For this study, 5 Bahamians signed up to lime, 4 came on the day of and 1 limer returned to process after. Utilizing a storytelling and reflective approach to analysis 5 connection points emerged: Stigma, Immigration as enlightenment, Spirituality as cause and intervention, Helplessness, and Hopefulness. The findings of the study are relevant for counselor education programs, clinical practice, and research methodological training.

Previous issue date: 2012-10-08 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study aims to investigate which aspects of Critical Mathematics Education, from Ole Skovsmose, have been privileged by the Brazilian researches of the period 2007 to 2010 that deal with arithmetic of the early years of Elementary School. Based on Fiorentini e Lorenzato (2006), the research is characterized as a qualitative metaanalysis, one of types of bibliographical research, with documental character, having been based also on a meta-analysis of Maranhão (2010), because it has the same purpose: to broaden or deepen the theoretical aspects of research selected. Assumptions of the movement of Critical Mathematics Education were used, lenses with which dissertations selected were analyzed. The procedures involved in the research were: the formation of the corpus of documents (BIOTTO, 2008; BORGES, 2009; LIPP, 2009); the organization of the material, selecting units for interpretive analyzes that could provide answers to the research questions; and the evidence of contrasts and relevant standards, between researches investigated, organized by theoretical topics of theoretical reference privileged. The results indicated concerns with the following theoretical aspects of Critical Mathematics Education that emerged from the analysis of the three studies meta-analyzed: Matemacia, Exercises, Scenarios for Investigation and Model of Cooperative Investigation. Also showed that, even being contemplated these things, they did not emphasize the development of strategies that exhibit the necessary treatment to arithmetic's affairs (and other mathematical domains) emerging in investigative scenarios proposed, of intervention in reality, and this occurred, even when the stated focus of learning arithmetic topics. The rich and rigorous treatment of Mathematics is fundamental to the exercise of citizenship and for intervention in reality, because the larger its domain, the better the planning and decision making in these projects. In summary, if the scenarios have to be rich to the exercise of citizenship, it must be borne rigor in the treatment of mathematical subjects emerging from them / Este estudo tem por objetivo investigar que aspectos da Educação Matemática
constituição do corpus documental (BIOTTO, 2008; BORGES, 2009; LIPP, 2009); a

An ODE/MOL PDE Template For Soil Physics: A Numerical StudyLee, Hock Seng, n/a January 2003 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to find a method, in conjunction with the ordinary differential equation (ODE) based method of lines (MOL) solution of Richards equation, to model the steep wetting front infiltration in very dry soils, accurately and efficiently. Due to the steep pressure head or steep water volumetric content gradients, highly nonlinear soil hydraulic properties and the rapid movement of the wetting front, accurate solutions for infiltration into a dry soil are usually difficult to obtain. Additionally, such problems often require very small time steps and large computation times. As an enhancement to the used ODE/MOL approach, Higher Order Finite Differencing, Varying Order Finite Differencing, Vertical Scaling, Adaptive Schemes and Non-uniform Stretching Techniques have been implemented and tested in this thesis. Success has been found in the ability of Vertical Scaling to simulate very steep moving front solution for the Burgers equation. Unfortunately, the results also show that Vertical Scaling needs significant research and improvement before their full potential in routine applications for difficult nonlinear problems, such as Richards equation with very steep moving front solution, can be realized. However, we have also shown that the use of the composed form of RE and a 2nd order finite differencing for the first order derivative approximation is conducive for modelling steep moving front problem in a very dry soil. Additionally, with the combination of an optimal influx value at the edges of the inlet, the ODE/MOL approach is able to model a 2-D infiltration in very dry soils, effectively and accurately. Furthermore, one of the strengths of this thesis is the use of a MATLAB PDE template. Implementing the ODE/MOL approach via a MATLAB PDE template has shown to be most suitable for modelling of partial differential equations. The plug and play mode of modifying the PDE template for solving time-dependent partial differential equations is user-friendly and easy, as compared to more conventional approaches using Pascal, Fortran, C or C++. The template offers greater modularity, flexibility, versatility, and efficiency for solving PDE problems in both 1-D and 2-D spatial dimensions. Moreover, the 2-D PDE template has been extended for irregular shaped domains.

Previous issue date: 2012-03-29 / This study was conducted to evaluate the consumption and digestibility of
dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), total
carbohydrates (TC), non-fiber carbohydrates (NFC) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) in
sheep fed hay moringa (Moringa oleifera Lam) obtained with four cutting ages (28, 35, 42
and 49 days). We used 20 females Morada Nova breed, with 20kg of live weight,
distributed in a completely randomized design and maintained in metabolism cages. There
was a negative linear effect of age of cutting on DM intake, with an estimated maximum
consumption of 0.67 kg / day for the hay produced at 28 days of cutting. It was also
observed linear behavior, with an estimated maximum consumption 172g/dia, 0.36 kg /
day; 18g/dia, at 35, 42 and 49 days old, for CP, OM and EE, respectively. For NDF,
quadratic effect was found with advancing maturity of the plant. The apparent digestibility
of DM, CP, OM and TC linearly decreased with advancing age of cutting hay Moringa
oleifera. It was concluded that the hay Moringa oleifera showed better nutritional value
after 28 days of cutting / O presente trabalho foi conduzido com o objetivo de avaliar o consumo e as
digestibilidades aparentes de mat?ria seca (MS), mat?ria org?nica (MO), prote?na bruta
