Information Capability enables Enterprise Competitive Competencs

Chang, Li-Ching 03 August 2011 (has links)
The economic milieu of today is fast paced and ever changing. We have entered the era of a technology and knowledge-based economy that has been further characterized by high speed dissemination of information over the internet. Therefore, corporate entities need to harness information capability via information management skills in order to raise the performance of their operational competences. This would in turn facilitate the rapidity by which market and clients' demands may be addressed so as to increase the corporate entity's competitive edge. The understanding of the interrelationship between each of abovementioned fields had been in high demand by industries and has also been a topic if continued interest in academia. This study adopted a structured approach to explore classical and traditional view as well as relationship between operational competences¡B competitive competences and information capability by combining published literature and practical analysis with depth interviews. There is a positive relationship between information capability and operational competences¡Aoperational competences and firm¡¦s competitive competences. Garmin Ltd. was founded in 1989 and has become GPS leader in the world. Garmin was used as a case to demonstrate the model of long term evolution of competitive competences.

The Study on staging strategy of global operational center- a L company Case

Chen, Yen-Hui 25 August 2005 (has links)
The Study on staging strategy of global operational center- a L company Case Abstract Taiwan has his own competitive advantages geographical features among countries. With changes of competitive factors and differences development patterns, it becomes a critical issue what roles the global operational center should play and his strategic deployments in the internationalization process are getting an important subject. Hence, the thesis is going to analyze how the small & middle enterprise in Taiwan plays internationally with global perspective instead of focusing on interaction between China and Taiwan. The case study method was employed in this thesis with the theory models Barlett & Goshal¡]1989¡^proposed in 1989 to study how the electronic company has been developing internationally. Observation is the sources of first-hand data with notes being kept as references. Meanwhile, secondary data is also majority of data sources. Based on analyzed data, I conclude as the followings, 1. As for SMD packaging materials, the global operational center is becoming as a transnational company from current international ones. However, SMT equipments, the head quarter will become as a global company from currently trading mode. 2. There is a different repurchase cycle between both of SMD packaging materials & SMT equipments. Therefore, the requirements on abilities of local response and flexibility are different as well. The repurchase cycle determined how they interact and resources allocation between head quarter and subsidiaries. 3. In the process of diversification, different product lines have different management terms. For example, the products with characteristics of highly customerizd and shorter repurchase cycle have to be met the demands of local market, and the subsidiaries need to be empowered and given responsibilities more by head quarter. Key Word¡Gglobal operational center small and middle enterprise transnational company

Low Voltage Low Power Square-Root-Domain Filter

Lo, Wan-Chen 03 July 2006 (has links)
In this thesis, a brand new first-order low pass square root domain filter (SRD filter) based on operational transconductors amplifiers (OTAs) is presented. The SRD filter consists of a translinear filter and two OTAs. We improve Cruz¡¦s SRD filter [15], reduce the number of transconductors from 3 to 2, and replace Class-AB linear transconductors with OTAs. The circuit has the least number of transistors up to date, therefore, the least power consumption and least chip area. The circuit has been fabricated with 0.35£gm CMOS technology. It operates with a supply voltage 1.5V and the biasing current varies from 0.05uA to 15uA. Measurement results show that the cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned from 250 Hz to 29 kHz when the external capacitance C is 1nF and the cutoff frequency can be tuned from 1.8 kHz to 237kHz when the external capacitance C is 100pF. The total harmonic distortion is 1.03% and 1.01% when the external capacitance C is 1nF and 100pF and the power consumption is 116£gW.

Gas station managers' management competency, human resource management and work motivation on operational performance.

Tseng, Hsin-chieh 03 August 2006 (has links)
The oil price in the global market hit new records in the recent years. Under the circumstance of opened market and fierce competition, the gas station industries toward lower profit due to high operation cost plus price war and intensive promotion. The station managers are responsible for operation management, market analysis, administrative, personnel as well as sale. Although the station scale is small, it is a business unit indeed. In the diversity of management and competition environment, the station managers shall possess not only the ability of certain expert or supervisory but also multiply requirement. Except personal technical skill, the station managers with the competency of human resource management are one of key successful factors. This research is trying to find out the human resource management is necessary for the station managers. Furthermore, this research would like to find out the interaction effects of management competency, human resource management and work motivation on operational performance.

Three improved operational amplifiers with low power low voltage

Kuo, Huan-Chou 10 July 2001 (has links)
Three improved operational amplifiers with low voltage and rail-to-rail constant are proposed. Two of the amplifiers are modified from the amplifier with a level shifting circuit. One improved amplifier has fewer devices, higher speed, and reduced area and the other improved amplifier is added an additional adjustable gain. The third amplifier is a floating voltage controlled voltage source (FVCVS) amplifier, which has reduced area and improved frequency response. The first two level shifting operational amplifiers are designed in a 0.5£gm UMC CMOS process. They use about half number of devices. The supply voltage is 1.3V, and the current consumes just only 22.6¢H of the original circuits. The unity gain frequency increases 56.8%. The slew rate, CMRR and PSRR are higher. The 2nd amplifier still has a rail-to-rail constant gm; however, the gm can be adjusted. The third amplifier uses the 0.35£gm UMC CMOS process with 1.2V operating voltage. The gain-bandwidth product is 53.8¢H larger than the original circuits. No frequency compensation is used and the devices are fewer. The results are obtained in HSPICE simulation.

Low Voltage Rail-to-Rail Operational Amplifier with High Stability over Temperature Variation

Hong, Ming-Hwa 21 June 2002 (has links)
A rail-to-rail op-amp with high stability over temperature variation at 1-V supply voltage is presented in this thesis. It incorporates a modified CM adapter and a modified bandgap reference. First, the modified CM adapter utilizes a level-shifting technique to shift the input common mode voltage of 0-1 V to the level below 0.1 V. By introducing this circuit as the front-end block of the proposed op-amp, the PMOS differential input stage can be operated appropriately with the rail-to-rail input common mode range. Second, the modified bandgap reference that combines two voltages with opposite temperature coefficients generates a temperature-insensitive bias current to the input stage. Besides, by the technique of cascading a diode with an additional BJT, the junction area of the original diodes can be reduced and in the actual application, fewer parallel-connected BJTs are needed. The two circuits are applied to the proposed op-amp operated at 1-V supply voltage in TSMC 1P4M 0.35£gm CMOS technology. At 25¢J, the dc gain is 78.9 dB and unity-gain bandwidth is 3.73 MHz. The phase margin is 42.9¢X. For the temperature from 0¢J to 75¢J, the frequency response is temperature-insensitive and the dc gain variation is 2dB. The layout view of the proposed op-amp is also presented and the area is 0.2 mm2.

A Square Root Domain Filter with Translinear Principle

Chang, Shih-Hao 07 August 2008 (has links)
In this thesis, a first order low pass square root domain filter (SRD filter) based on the novel operational transconductor amplifiers (OTAs) is presented. The SRD filter consists of a translinear filter and two OTAs. Because the conventional OTA has small input voltage swings, which violates the large signal operation of a SRD filter. We propose the novel OTA which is based on the large signal behaviors of MOSFETs, and the OTA also has large signal operation. We improve Cruz¡¦s SRD filter [22], reduce the number of the transconductors from 3 to 2, and replace Class-AB linear transconductors with the proposed OTAs. The MOSFET count of whole circuit can be reduced. Therefore, the OTAs have many advantages: wider input voltage swing, low supply voltage, low power consumption, and small chip area. The circuit has been fabricated with 0.35£gm CMOS technology. It operates with a supply voltage 1.5V and the bias current varies from 0.3£gA to 15£gA. Measurement results show that the cutoff frequency can be tuned from 1.1kHz to 35.2kHz when the external capacitance C is 1nF and the cutoff frequency can be tuned from 8.7kHz to 310.4kHz when the external capacitance C is 100pF. The total harmonic distortions are 0.93% and 0.91% when the external capacitances C are 1nF and 100pF, and the power consumption is 152.29£gW.

Conflict Prevention in Internal Conflicts : Is political will all it takes?

Hedelin, Ingrid January 2008 (has links)

The purpose of the thesis is to see how operational prevention has been carried out in cases of internal conflicts in the last five to six years in order to see whether it has been ineffective just due to lack of political will or if there could be other explanations to it. To fulfil the purpose, two main questions are answered in two steps. The first question is:

What other factors than political will are necessary for operational prevention to be more effective? These other factors then form a model for more effective operational prevention together with political will. The second question is based on this model and is as follows:

Is the model that these factors form followed when operational prevention is applied in practise?

Three cases of conflict are looked at in order to answer the second question, Darfur, Nepal and Haiti. Both steps of the analysis are conducted by means of qualitative text analysis. The results support the common notion that effective conflict prevention is due to political will to act within the international community, but the results also indicate that political will is not all it takes for operational prevention to be effective.
