Suffrage in England in the 19th and the early 20th centuries Abstract The diploma thesis adress the issue of suffrage in England in the 19th and the early 20th centuries. Attention is paid primarily to the reform acts governing elections to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, which were passed in years 1832, 1867, 1884-85, 1918 and 1928. The implementation of these reform acts led to the transition from the archaic form of suffrage, which persisted without major changes from the period of the late Middle Ages, to a universal and equal suffrage with direct and secret voting in the form which in the United Kingdom prevails, with minor amendments, to the present. This transformation was completed in 1928. In addition, the development of the municipal elections legislation, changes in a qualification of the Members of the Parliament and other changes in electoral legislation, especially in the legislation dealing with electoral corruption, are mentioned. There is also outlined a political and public debate on electoral reform, with an emphasis on parliamentary relevant debate. The present theoretical-empirical diploma thesis in the field of interpreting studies analyses the transfer of conative function in bidirectional simultaneous interpreting between Czech and English. The theoretical part of the thesis presents an overview of the present knowledge in relation to the conative or persuasive function of language and its transfer in interpreting. The methodological framework and initial hypothesis underlying the empirical part of the thesis are then defined. The research material used for the quantitative-qualitative research consists of a corpus of recordings of original and interpreted speeches from the European Parliament. The aim of the present thesis is to explore to what degree the conative function, being the dominant language function in political discourse, is preserved in the interpreted versions of the speeches, on the basis of which debates in this multilingual institution take place. The empirical research follows from a contrastive analysis of the transfer of individual categories of the means of the conative function in simultaneous interpreting for the given language pair. Results of the research are interpreted in terms of the characteristics of the original speech, type of interpreting and directionality.

The Diploma Thesis is focused on the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and its professionalization. The Thesis solves question about stable extent of the professionally experienced and professional politicians in Chamber of Deputies and its organs by using professionalization factors to the Czech Chamber of Deputies. Furthermore the thesis is focused on material processing and information security of deputies which are provided by the Chamber of Deputies to perform parliamentary duties professionally and full time.

This diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of the current relationship of Christianity and the European Union, namely the positions of political fractions in the European Parliament to the values derived from the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. In the work there are analyzed the political programs of the four major parties of the European Parliament (EPP, S&D, ALDE, Greens)and examined level of representation of Christian values. The work is divided into five main chapters. The first chapter is a theoretical part, which forms the theoretical basis, in which the whole work is further conceived. In the second chapter, there are characterized the relations between Christianity and the European Union, respectively, the influence of Christianity on the formation of the European Union. The third chapter delas with the cooperation between the Roman Catholic Church and the European Union. The fourth chapter deals with the determination of Christian values. There are defined and characterized the basic Christian values as contained in the Compendium of the social doctrine of the Church. In the final chapter there ate analyzed the actual political programs four largest parties of the European Parliament. Programs are analyzed in terms of their relation to the defined Christian values.

Det folkvalda samiska organet Sametinget instiftades i Sverige 1993. Det var en viktig utveckling i samernas politiska mobilisering eftersom de inte tidigare haft ett nationellt representativt organ. Vid instiftandet blev organet både ett folkvalt parlament och en statlig förvaltningsmyndighet, vilket skapade konflikter mellan samernas vilja till ökat självbestämmande och statens strävan att kontrollera Sametingets verksamhet. I föreliggande kvalitativa undersökning undersöks därför de diskussioner som förelåg i den samiska tidningen Samefolket under Sametingets inrättande 1990-1994. Undersökningen visar dels hur ledande politiska representanter från de nybildade samiska partierna resonerade i frågan, dels hur andra samiska aktörer betraktade Sametinget. Vidare påvisar undersökningens resultat att diskussionerna förändrades under den undersökta perioden och att inre konflikter ökade till följd av Sametingets inrättande. Trots att en vision med Sametinget var att ena det samiska folket, visar föreliggande undersökning att organets tillkomst istället kom att splittra gruppen under den undersökta perioden. / The Sámi Parliament, a popularly elected Sámi organ was established in Sweden in 1993. This was an important process for the political advancement of the Sámi people, since they never before had had a nationally representative body. At the founding, the body became both an elected parliament and an administrative agency for the state. This created conflicts between the Sámi peoples' desire of increased independence and the goverment's need to control and rule. Therefore, the present qualitative study investigates the discussions that appeared in the Sámi magazine Samefolket during the Sámi Parliament's institutionalisation 1990-1994. The examination partly shows how the leading political representatives from the newly founded Sámi parties argued and partly how other Sámi actors regarded its institutionalisation. Furthermore, the results of the investigation suggest that the discussions changed during the investigated period and that the amount of conflicts increased following the institutionalisation of the Sámi Parliament. Even though the vision for the Sámi Parliament was to unite the Sámi people, the present study shows that the creation of this organ shattered the unity of the Sámi during the investigated period.

The diploma thesis is about the elections to the European Parliament in Poland and Germany 2019 and their reflection in the local media, which are the periodicals Junge Freiheit, WSieci, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Rzeczpospolita, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Gazeta Wyborcza, Jungle World and Kultura Liberalna. The thesis presents the historical development of the European Parliament, its competencies, and the electoral system. It also acquaints the reader with its powers and composition in 2019. In the thesis, the author presents the first direct elections to the European Parliament in Germany in 1979 and in Poland in 2004. In order to create an objective overview of the elections for the reader, the author presents the elections in Germany and in Poland in 2009 and in 2014. Subsequently, the 2019 elections themselves are the main theme, along with party campaigns and election polls in the two selected countries. Quantitative and qualitative research of the selected media was conducted to find answers to the research questions, which it adequately did. These answers are thoroughly commented after presentation. The final part of the thesis deals with the comparison of periodicals, summarization of the qualitative analysis and the conclusion of the whole diploma thesis.

Diploma thesis Italy in the 90's - political earthquake and it's impact on the European Parliament elections focuses on political and social changes that Italy experienced during the early 90's and their impact on election campaigns and European Parliament election results in 1994 and 1999. The paper recaps evolution of powers of the European Parliament, legal base for EP elections in Italy and it summarizes both internal and external factors that led to radical changes in political and partisan system and eventually to the end of the First Italian Republic. It depicts collapse of party system and rise of new political parties and leaders on the background of international context, judical investigation into political corruption Mani Pulite and offensive of organized crime as a reaction to it. The key part of the thesis is dedicated to the European elections in Italy in 1994 and 1994, it analizes election campaigns led by the Italian political parties and the electoral results. The main objective of the thesis is to confirm or disprove initial hypthesis that Italian political parties perceived the European elections as a tool to reach their domestic aims, as research revealing distribution of powers in the national arena.

Social networks have very quickly become a popular channel for politicians to communicate information to their constituents. The thesis deals with the question, if the social network communication affects the election results. It also monitors the activity of selected candidates for the post of MEP before the elections in 2019. Their posts on Facebook and Twitter are then analyzed to find a possible relationship between the activity of candidates on social networks in the period from April 23rd to May 23rd, 2019 and the outcome of the European elections. At the same time, it also fact-checks the candidates' practical statements.

Covid-19 har gjort att människor blir arbetslösa då företag varslar sina anställda. Det kan leda till ekonomiska problem, samt för att få arbetslöshetsersättning eller ekonomiskt bistånd krävs det att dess olika villkor är uppfyllda. En villkorslös medborgarlön kan därför vara ett alternativ för att minimera de ekonomiska svårigheterna som uppstår vid en arbetslöshet. Denna studies syfte är att ta reda på om det finns ett samband mellan trygghetsanställning och att vara emot medborgarlön. Studien har utgått ifrån två vetenskapliga artiklar som visar för-och nackdelar med medborgarlön, samt det politiska läget kring medborgarlön. Klass och kultur av Bourdieu och tillit av Giddens har använts som teorier. Undersökningen är en kvantitativ metod, där en enkät från ESS8, 2016, har använts för att mäta fyra variabler i tre olika korstabeller, som signifikanstestats. Den empiriska undersökningen visar att det finns ett samband mellan trygghetsanställning och att vara emot medborgarlön. / <p>2020-06-26</p>
