Technically-driven medical devices such as wireless implantable medical devices (WIMD) have become ubiquitous within healthcare. The use of these devices has changed the way nurses administer patient care. Consequently, the nursing workforce is large and diverse, and with it comes an expected disparity in personalities. Research involving human factors and technology acceptance in healthcare is not new. Yet due to the changing variables in the manner of which patient care is being administered, both in person and in the mechanism of treatment, recent research suggests that individual human factors such as personality traits may hold unknown implications involving more successful adoption of emerging technologies for patient care.
The purpose of this research was to empirically investigate the influence of personality traits on a nurse’s intention to use WIMDs for patient care. One hundred and two nurses from a tertiary teaching hospital in Michigan were surveyed to determine if their identifiable personality traits statistically related to their intention to use a WIMD. A predictive model was developed by combining constructs from the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model and the Five Factor personality trait model (FFM). The model used moderated multiple regression (MMR) to statistically identify if the personality traits of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism, moderated one or more statistically significant relationships between 1) performance expectancy (PE) and intention to use (IU), 2) effort expectancy (EE) and IU, 3) and social influence (SI) and IU. It was predicted that PE, EE, and SI would show statistical significance on a nurse’s IU of a WIMD when moderated by one or more of the five personality traits. Results showed statistical significance between PE and IU, and EE and IU, but not between SI and IU, when moderated by extraversion. Results showed no statistical significance between PE and IU, EE and IU, or SI and IU when moderated by openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness, or neuroticism.
This research has contributed by conducting an investigation on individual human factors that may impact nurses’ intention to use emerging technologies; and by providing statistical evidence that may help to better predict the role personality traits have on a nurse’s adoption of WIMDs for patient care.

Do Rater Personality Traits Moderate the Relationship Between Intelligence and Rating Accuracy in Interviews?Bassier, Laeeqa 31 January 2022 (has links)
Research on judgment accuracy in human resource management shows that various rater characteristics predict accuracy, but emerging findings suggest that these individual differences may interact with one another (rather than being direct effects). The present study aimed to add to this area of research by determining how rater personality traits may moderate the relationship between GMA and rating accuracy. Secondary data collected in a prior study of police managers undergoing a seven-week managerial training course in South Africa (N =146) were analysed. The findings supported that selected rater personality traits may moderate the relationship between intelligence and rating accuracy. For example, rater intelligence was a better predictor of accuracy when the judge was more agreeable. Intellectance and conscientiousness were found to have no significant moderating effect on the relationship between intelligence and rating accuracy. Only three out of the Big Five Personality traits were examined in this research study. Importantly, the study contributed to theory by expanding the Good Judge model (De Kock et al., 2020), analysing how individual differences in the ability and trait domains may potentially interact to influence accuracy. In addition to enhancing our understanding of how rater personality constructs may affect accuracy, the study discusses important implications for practices, such as rater training and selection.

Studiens syfte var att undersöka samband mellan personlighetsdrag och lycka. Studien ämnade även undersöka om det finns skillnad mellan kvinnors och mäns lycka och om det finns skillnad i lycka beroende på utbildningsnivå. I studien har ordet lycka ersatts med subjektivt välbefinnande som definieras som individens egen uppfattning om det egna välbefinnandet. En enkät utformades utifrån de validerade och välanvända självskattningsskalorna Mini-IPIP Scales, som mäter personlighet utifrån femfaktorteorin, och WHO-5 för att mäta subjektivt välbefinnande. Studien omfattar 200 deltagare mellan 18 och 87 år, av vilka var 163 kvinnor, 35 män och två som identifierar sig som annat. Ingen signifikant skillnad hittades gällande könsidentifikation eller utbildningsnivå i relation till subjektivt välbefinnande. Däremot visade resultaten att det fanns samband med vissa personlighetsdrag och subjektivt välbefinnande. Extraversion visade på ett måttligt positivt samband och samvetsgrannhet ett litet positivt samband. Neuroticism hade ett starkt negativt samband med subjektivt välbefinnande. Därav kan slutsatsen dras att det finns ett samband mellan vissa personligheter och SVB. Extroverta och samvetsgranna personligheter skattar sig lyckligare medan personligheter med hög neuroticism skattar sig mindre lyckliga. / The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between personality traits and happiness. The study also intended to investigate whether there is a difference between women's and men's happiness and whether there is a difference in happiness depending on the level of education. In the present study, the word happiness has been replaced by subjective well-being, which is defined as the individual's own perception of their own well-being. A questionnaire was designed based on the validated and well-used self-report scales Mini-IPIP Scales, which measures personality based on The Five Factor Theory, and WHO-5 to measure subjective well-being. The study included 200 participants between 18 and 87 years old, of whom 163 were women, 35 men and two who identify as other. No significant difference was found regarding gender identification or educational level in relation to subjective well-being. However, the results showed that there were associations with certain personality traits and subjective well-being. Extraversion showed a moderate positive relationship and conscientiousness a small positive relationship. Neuroticism had a strong negative relationship with subjective well-being. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between certain personalities and SWB. Extroverted and conscientious personalities rate themselves as happier, while personalities with high neuroticism rate themselves as less happy.

Exploring the relationship between frontal alpha asymmetry and the big five personality traitsEk, Hanna January 2023 (has links)
Frontal Alpha Asymmetry (FAA) has been associated with individual differences such as various aspects of personality. However, the nature of the relationship between FAA and personality traits is not yet fully understood. The present study further investigated this relationship by exploring the correlation between resting-state FAA and the Big Five personality traits: openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, extraversion, and neuroticism. 15 healthy participants completed resting-state EEG recordings three times and the Big Five Personality Inventory (BFI) twice. The results showed only one statistically significant correlation among the 20 correlations examined, between the F4-F3 resting-state FAA and openness scores. Besides, the direction of the relationship was the opposite of what would be expected. The small sample size of this study may have contributed to results, indicating the need for future research with larger samples. Nonetheless, the current findings add to the existing literature and suggest that the relationship between resting-state FAA and personality traits may be more complex than previously thought.

För att besvara syftet kommer studien att undersöka förtroendet hos populationen för fastighetsmäklare, hur fastighetsmäklarens klädsel påverkar förtroendet och sambandet mellan kundens personlighetsdrag inom The Big Five och deras uppfattning av fastighetsmäklarens klädsel som förtroendeingivande. Metod: Denna studie använder en kvantitativ metod med ett deduktiv synsätt för att undersöka ämnet. Datainsamlingen genomfördes genom en webbaserad enkät som distribuerades till ett bekvämlighetsurval via olika plattformar såsom Facebook, Instagram och LinkedIn. Examensarbetets bidrag: Studien bidrar till kunskap om hur fastighetsmäklarens klädsel påverkar förtroendet. Denna studies resultat är också användbart i praktiken för fastighetsmäklare. The findings of this study are also applicable in practice for real estate agents. By understanding how attire influences trust, real estate agents can adapt their clothing choices to become more competitive in the market and better meet customer expectations. Suggestions for future research: This study demonstrates a weak correlation between the customer's personality traits and their perception of the real estate agent's attire as trustworthy. The study indicates that other factors such as gender, age, experience, trust, and stereotypes have a greater impact on trust than the customer's personality traits. Therefore, it would be interesting to further investigate how social and demographic factors affect trust in real estate agent attire, as well as conducting the study among a broader population.

Studies into paranormal belief and the effects thereof have been gaining more attention. This study looked at the Big Five Personality Traits and how they could relate to belief in the paranormal, specifically which personality traits, if any, lended themselves to paranormal belief more than others. Four hundred forty-six college-age participants completed a Big Five survey as well as the Revised Paranormal Belief Scale. Results from a multiple regression showed a significant relationship between gender, religion, level of education achieved by the participant's mother, extraversion, and neuroticism (emotional stability) in relation to paranormal belief. Implications and elaboration of findings are discussed.

Det slutliga stickprovet innehöll svar från 78 chefer med personalansvar mellan åldrarna 26–67 år (M = 50.12, SD = 9.18). Deltagarnabesvarade en online enkät bestående av validerade frågor och påståenden. För analyserna gjordes kompositmått för personlighet och stress. Resultaten visade inga signifikanta könsskillnader för någon av studiens variabler och ett signifikant samband mellan stress och Openness, Conscientiousness respektive Neuroticism. Resultaten från den multipla regressionsanalysen visade att Neuroticism och Conscientiousness är betydande prediktorer för stress. Resultaten diskuteras vidare i relation till tidigare och framtida forskning. / The current study investigated the relationship between personality traits (FFM) and perceived stress, among managers and based on gender. The final sample included responses from 78 managers with personnel responsibility between the ages 26-67 years (M = 50.14, SD = 9.18). The participants completed an online self-reported survey consisting of validated measurements. For the analysis, a composite score was executed for personality and stress. The results showed no significant gender differences for any study variables and a significant association between stress and openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism respectively. The results from the multiple regression analysis showed that neuroticism and conscientiousness are significant predictors of stress. The findings are further discussed concerning previous and future research.
