Politické konexe a jejich vliv na trh veřejných zakázek: případ České republiky / Political Connections and Distortions on Public Procurement Markets: Evidence from the Czech Republic

Navrátilová, Alice January 2021 (has links)
Corporate political connections have been shown to induce preferential treatment towards connected firms. This thesis evaluates whether the effect of connections is reflected in the composition of public procurement suppliers in Czechia, using municipal procurement awarded between 2006 and 2020. In particular, we hypothesise that changes in municipal mayors affected the rate of new procurement suppliers following the elections in 2014 and 2018. The findings show that the rate of new suppliers increased significantly in municipalities that elected a new mayor in the 2014 elections; however, the effects appeared to be negative in 2018. We further hypothesise that these results can be driven by the major success of new political parties in 2014, with a large share of new politicians being elected to office. We specifically examine the case of ANO, the political movement that dominated both elections. We do not find robust evidence of a surge in new suppliers in municipalities where ANO was notably successful, suggesting that the effect was not driven only by this party and pointing to alternative explanations.

Politické systémy a jejich výuka v občanské výchově na základní škole. / Political Systems and its teaching in civics at elementary school.

Rund, David January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the political systems and its tuition at elementary school. In the theoretical part of the text, the historical development of the idea of democracy in ancient Greece and Rome, the development of parliamentarism in the UK and the expansion of political rights in Europe are announced to the reader. The importance of this development is considerable, as it forms the basis of democratic political institutions that are the core of this thesis. The rest of the theoretical part is dedicated to the undemocratic regimes. It deals with the development of these regimes and its theoretical definition against the democratical one. All of these undemocratic regimes are presented on examples of existing or collapsed states. The practical part of my thesis is dedicated to the tuition of political systems in Framework Educational Program which is presented in the subject Education on Citizenship and the cross-cutting theme Education of Democratic Citizen. The all theoretical knowledge is used in the draft of four tuition blocks. During these classes, students are gradually acquainted with democratic institutions on example of non-profit organisation, municipal and state level. Some of didactic activities shall be used during those four tuition blocks, too. Through these activities,...

Regionální politické strany a Evropská unie: Případová studie Španělsko / Regional Political Parties and the European Union: Case Study of Spain

Coufalová, Kateřina January 2011 (has links)
Regional political parties and the European Union: Case study of Spain Abstract The diploma thesis "Regional political parties and the European Union: Case study of Spain" focuses on the area of the regional parties on the stage of the European Parliament, a subject which has not been analysed thoroughly in the past. Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of this phenomenon on the case of the Spanish historical regions (Catalonia, Basque Country, Galicia) which are a recognizable proof of the remarkable institutional strengthening in the framework of a regionalized unitary state. The methodology of triangulation was used for the analysis of this issue as the data of the diverse type (i.e. electoral results, party's material etc.) have been put together through different methods (as a qualitative and quantitative content analysis, deductive and comparative approaches) with the aim to reveal the complete character of the issue and to reach the objective results as possible. The study focuses on the analysis of the regional parties on the European level through their cooperation in the European federations of the political parties as well as the framework of the political groups in the European Parliament. The emphasis is also placed on the analysis of the own work of the members of the European Parliament...

Nástup nových politických stran v České republice / The emergence of new political parties in the Czech Republic

Šárovec, Daniel January 2015 (has links)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to discuss new political parties in the context of the Czech party system. Movement ANO 2011 and Dawn of Direct Democracy are the researched subjects which broke through elections to the Chamber of Deputies in the Czech Republic in 2013. This multiple case study proceeds from the basic and ambiguously gripped notion political party to diverse theoretical aspects of newness, trying to briefly define the Czech party system in the context of new political parties. It is done in terms of legislative rules for (not only new) political parties and also from a developmental view. Afterwards the empirical part works with particular characteristics of two chosen subjects - it gradually focuses on their emergence and development, programme, the leader and members, electoral campaign and their participation in elections. The task of the individual characteristics is to introduce both subjects accurately so their common and different traits are obvious. The gained findings are later assessed by the view of the chosen Sikk's theory of newness. There is examined if ANO and Dawn fall into some of the categories defined by this theory. The diploma thesis tries to shift the state of knowledge of new Czech political parties and refers to the positives and negatives of the chosen...

Minářová, Zuzana January 2015 (has links)
The thesis How Do Ordinary Party Members Perceive Themselves? The Case of the KDU-CSL explores both the relation between an ordinary party member and his political party and his role within the party. Therefore, the subject or our research represents the ordinary party member of the KDU-CSL defined as a member without any elected or executive political office. The theoretical framework of the thesis refers to a range authors concerning with political parties and their organisational aspects. The principal empirical part of the thesis is devoted to an analysis of party members in two Czech regions - Prague and the South Moravian region. The thesis is based on the primary qualitative research (semi-structured in-depth interviews and content textual analysis) conducted by the author herself.

Čím poslanci zelenají? Faktory ovlivňující politiku životního prostředí. / How the Members of Parliament Are Getting Green? Factors Influencing Environmental Policy.

Skalík, Jan January 2011 (has links)
HOW THE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT ARE GETTING GREEN? Factors Influencing Environmental Policy. Jan Skalík Abstract In the new millennium the Chamber of Deputies has been significantly less supportive towards environmental protection than it was in the 1990s. It has been proved by the analysis of 156 votes concerning the environment in the period 1994 - 2010. Unequivocally, the strongest and the most influential factor in terms of the impact on the other characteristics and the environmental benefits is to which Parliamentary Club the deputy belongs. From the comparison of voting patterns of the Green Party (SZ) and Civic Democratic Party (ODS) it is possible to demonstrate why the environmental legislation is supported mostly by women and MPs from Moravian districts. Generally it could be said that growing political success in the parliamentary right-wing parties is linked to less favourable voting for the environment. However, among centrist and left wing parties this is different: proenvironmental voting is connected to success in the Chamber. MPs who vote pro- environmentally are often older and were elected to the Chamber earlier. While a degree in engineering correlates with an unenthusiastic relationship to the environment, a degree in the humanities is often related to its protection. If an MP is...

Problematika nerovností v přístupu ke vzdělávání na přelomu 20. a 21. století z pohledu politických dokumentů mezinárodních organizací / The Issue of Inequalities in Access to Education at the Turn of th 20th and 21st Century from the Perspective of Policy Documents of International Organizations

Schwanková, Michaela January 2014 (has links)
5 Abstract Lifelong learning is an important condition for a successful and fulfilling life in today's globalized world. Although the declared efforts of international organizations (UNESCO, WB, OECD, WTO, EU, etc.) to provide education for all, not everyone have equal chances in its acquisition. This work focuses on the initiative of UNESCO, OECD and the EU in this area. UNESCO focuses mainly on developing countries (providing functional literacy among the poorest) while the OECD and the EU to those developed (the target is people's employability and competitiveness, the acquisition of key skills). International organizations formulate these objectives in statements, strategies, action plans and proposals for action to eliminate unequal access to education. However, even these documents can render various difficulties and problems in their application in practice. Politické procesy v Československu - Akce "Zpěvačka" / Political trials in Czechoslovakia - The Case "Zpěvačka"

Doležalová, Ivana January 2016 (has links)
This Master's thesis will look at the Political trials in Czechoslovakia - The case of "Zpěvačka", it will focus on one of the many politically motivated processes that took place in Czechoslovakia during the communist regime, i.e. 1948-1989. The focus of this paper is to analyse the key archival sources, which is now an investigation by the State Security in the case of "Zpěvačka", now stored in the Archive of Security Forces. The trial of the anti-state oriented group of people around Radana Melicharová who were accused of collaborating with foreign intelligence services took place in the spring of 1957. This shows that even the so-called foundation period of the communist regime, the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia continued to implement political processes to control the opposition. This thesis brings the main characters of the process Radana Melicharová et al., describes their illegal activities and analyses the motives of each participants on illegal activities. And also discusses about the main trial itself at the Regional Court in Prague, subsequent appeal trials and the efforts to rehabilitate convicts. Contribution of the work lies in the fact that it complements many previously published scientific studies on the topic of the political process and less known and studied process with a...

Minulost jako hlavní téma v dramatickém díle Stewarta Parkera / The past as a leitmotif in Stewart Parker's dramatic work for stage

Raisová, Michaela January 2011 (has links)
The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the use of the past in Stewart Parker's dramatic work for the stage. A recent historian Hayden White formulated that the work of a historian is in fact similar to the work of a historical fiction writer - the difference lies mainly in the extent of their invention. In that respect, Parker's work can be regarded as a fictional alternative to the official depiction of history. In his plays, Stewart Parker often deals with the Troubles and Northern Irish history and politics. Apart from using real historical events around which Parker revolves the plot of his plays, he often explores the effects of personal pasts of his characters and uses it as leading dynamics in the plays. The main motto of his plays is 'coming to terms with the past'. His plays also often feature ghosts which can be regarded as a reflection of the past. In my thesis, I examine their role and Parker's use of the past in Spokesong, Catchpenny Twist, Nightshade, Pratt's Fall, Northern Star, Heavenly Bodies and Pentecost.
