This thesis deals with one of the fresh trend in media production which caught attention of both scholars and laic public. It concerns phenomenon of hyper local media. Theoretical base of this work lies in appropriation of "locality"as a distinctive attribute in terms of globalization processes. It operates with such terms as spatio- temporal changes, localization, globalization, human and place, authority and social integrity trying to contextualize these terms with media studies. Further it attempts to enlighten what are hyper local media, where can we find its roots in the field of journalism, how do they work and which advantages and disadvantages they have. Research part of the thesis studies particular Czech hyper local project of PPF Investment Company combining case study and quantitative content analysis. Main intention is to find out whether the concept of hyper local journalism is sustainable in Czech media landscape (and under which conditions) and whether it has got working business model. We are also interested in its ability of capturing and keeping new audience and delivering the different content in comparison with another available and comparable media. Synaptische Plastizität im Kleinhirnkortex von FoxP2-mutanten MäusenStoppe, Muriel 06 December 2011 (has links)
Die KE-Familie ist das am ausführlichsten untersuchte Beispiel für eine angeborene spezifische Sprachstörung. Die Sprachstörung in dieser Familie wird durch eine heterozygote Punktmutation im FoxP2-Gen hervorgerufen, die R553H-Mutation. Die betroffenen Mitglieder der Großfamilie haben Defizite beim Erlernen komplexer orofazialer Bewegungsabläufe als Grundlage des fließenden Sprechens und zeigen
Störungen beim Sprachverständnis und beim Schreiben.
Untersuchungen an der KE-Familie und an Knockout-Tieren hatten Hinweise auf eine Beteiligung des Kleinhirns an der Sprachstörung der KE-Familie geliefert. Entsprechend war zu erwarten, dass genauere Kenntnisse über den Einfluss vom FoxP2-Gen auf Entwicklung und Funktion des Kleinhirns helfen könnten, die Funktion von FoxP2 und seine Rolle bezüglich dieser Sprachstörung, aber auch in Hinblick auf die Sprachfähigkeit des Menschen weiter aufzuschlüsseln.
Die Experimente, die der vorliegenden Promotionsarbeit zu Grunde liegen, erforschten erstmals den Einfluss der KE-Mutation im FoxP2-Gen auf synaptischer Ebene durch Untersuchungen am in der Literatur ausführlich beschriebenen erregenden Schaltkreis im Kleinhirnkortex von heterozygoten R552H-Mäusen. Elektrophysiologische Messungen dienten dazu, die Verschaltung der Parallelfasern und Kletterfasern auf die Purkinjezelle auf Veränderungen der Übertragungseigenschaften
zu prüfen. Durch Induktion von Langzeitdepression und Paarpulsbahnung
an der Parallelfaser-Purkinjezell-Synapse sollte die synaptische Plastizität
untersucht werden. Es zeigten sich eine intakte Verschaltung der erregenden Eingänge auf die Purkinjezelle, jedoch Veränderungen der Langzeit- und der Kurzzeitplastizität: Nach Induktion von Langzeitdepression entwickelte sich diese signifikant schneller. Die Paarpulsbahnung war bei kurzen Interstimulusintervallen signifikant
verstärkt. Die Befunde sprechen für einen Einfluss des FoxP2-Gens auf die synaptischen Eigenschaften im Kleinhirnkortex. Die Aufschlüsselung dieses Einflusses und seine Bedeutung für die Sprachstörung der KE-Familie und die Sprachentwicklung beim Menschen ist Gegenstand weiterer Forschung.

Analysis of Telecommunication Industry in the Czech Republic / Analýza Telekomunikačního sektoru v České RepubliceSchneiderová, Jana January 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with development of Telecommunication Industry in The Czech Republic. The first part of the paper captures more complexly overview of global tendencies in the industry. Generally, the key focus is on the last five years from 2009 to 2013 as this was the most dynamic period of the industry so far: new trends such as MVNOs or M2M appeared, telecommunication regulations have tighten up due to united European Union regulations, which all together led to increasing competition in the industry and necessary acquisitions. One of the recent acquisitions -- Telefónica Czech Republic Group and its subsidiaries gained by PPF Group, is analysed in the second part of this thesis through financial analysis. The acquisition's importance and potential benefits are unquestionable as the operator has performed within the last five years that it can react very well during difficult economic and financial times, and it can prosper from its advantages over its main competitors.

The current environment is characterized by the fast pace of changes that requires firms react flexibly, which demands new approaches to managing employees, creating more flexible organizational structures supporting creative people, and innovation because people and innovations are the key sources of competitive advantages. The goal of this thesis is to analyze changes at O2 after Spanish telecommunications firm Telefónica S.A. sold a majority stake to PPF in 2013. The changes associated with the switch in ownership can chiefly be seen in the firm's goals, its organizational structure, its policy toward employees, in customer satisfaction, and in its investments and share price.

A Comprehensive Experimental Evaluation of Actively Controlled Piezoceramics with Positive Posistion Feedback for Structural DampingDeGuilio, Andrew Phillip 13 April 2000 (has links)
This study evaluates the effectiveness of actively controlled piezoceramics with positive position feedback (PPF) for reducing structural vibrations. A comparison is made between active control with PPF and a parallel resistor-inductor (RLC) shunt technique. The primary objectives of this study are to:
1. Explore the feasibility of using smart materials and fiber optics for simultaneous health monitoring and active damping of a representative aircraft panel.
2. Determine how optical fiber sensors may be used to detect vibration modes of an aircraft panel by investigating their use on a representative test article.
3. Determine how piezoelectric patches may be used to detect and counteract fundamental resonances of a representative test article.
4. Determine a control algorithm and hardware system to increase substantially the damping in the fundamental mode of the representative test article over a wide temperature range.
5. Develop a health-monitoring algorithm based on fiber optic sensors to detect impedance changes in a representative test article.
6. Make a comparison between active control with PPF and an RLC shunt technique.
To achieve the objectives of this study, a special test rig was used to evaluate the performance of piezoelectric materials (PZTs) for vibration suppression. The test rig was used to rigidly clamp a flat 20-guage steel plate, and then excite the plate in various frequency ranges with an electromagnetic shaker. For each test, a data acquisition system was used to acquire the data to evaluate the performance of each PPF controller. Once the data was obtained, a comparison was made between active damping with PPF and passive damping with the RLC shunt technique.
The active damping technique used for this study combined piezoelectric actuators with fiber optic sensors to achieve simultaneous active control and health monitoring of a test plate. The results of the active damping tests show that piezoelectric materials can provide substantial narrowband and broadband frequency reductions, while at the same time detecting damage on the test plate. More specifically, the test results indicate that smart damping materials can decrease the fundamental mode of vibration of the test plate by 23 dB and detect damage such as a loose bolt in the clamping frame, with the addition of only 0.04 lb of PZT on the test plate. The active damping technique reduced the plate vibrations at each mode within the frequency range of interest, with only one-third the amount of piezoelectric material needed for an RLC shunt circuit technique. / Master of Science
