A study of Investments from Taiwan on PRC¡¦s Medical Institutions.Lin, Shih-huan 03 July 2008 (has links)
Since the ¡mThe Interim Measures for Administration of Chinese-foreign Joint Venture and Cooperative Medical Institutions¡ncame effective in year 2000, several Taiwanese firms invested their capital in, which became the pioneers of investing in PRC¡¦s medical markets. Given the distinctive characteristics only possessed by medical organizations, combined with PRC¡¦s medical environments, policies and conditions are far different from those of Taiwan¡¦s, investing in PRC would pose as a unique challenge. This thesis discusses medical environments and competitions with policy, industry and competition points of view in order to serve as a reference to medical firms willing to invest there.
This research applies qualitative methods, focusing on the specialty and meanings of data. This study served interviewing experts and gathering secondary data (books, newspapers, periodicals, theses and dissertations, websites and governmental publications) as the foundation and concludes with suggestions for current/potential investors.
This study has discovered that Taiwanese firms which also invest in PRC were not entered there due to financial reasons, other factors are relatively dominant. Several ambiguous rules regarding cooperation between two firms lay in current regulations, which may pose as a major threat to Taiwanese firms. In addition to a higher public-to-private medical firm ratio, local governments¡¦ fiscal conditions ¡V which are related with public hospitals ¡V made things worse for private firms to live. Human resources employed by Taiwanese medical firms, on the other hand, are generally sourced from local regions. Yet major differences lay between the methods of training medical professionals and the ratio between doctors and nurses. In addition, salaries of the professionals are relatively low in PRC, thus kick-backs are generally accepted as a ¡§normal income¡¨ to them. These differences are challenges for the Taiwanese firms to operate there. In this research, one could discover that medical environments in PRC are complicated and filled with risks. Firms must truly understand the objectives and capacities of their own when considering investing in the industry there. Locations are as well important in assuring the firm's success.

中國民族主義與政權支持:以1993年問卷調查為例 / Chinese nationalisms and regime dupport: findings from the 1993 survey on social mobility and social change in China柯迪米, Dimitrios Kokoromytis Unknown Date (has links)
This study analyzes the 1993 Survey on Social Mobility and Social Change in China and is trying to find out whether Chinese nationalism affects regime support and in what direction. The thesis begins with the theories of nationalism, whose main events took part chiefly and, almost, exclusively, in Europe of the 19th century. Then, the roots of Chinese nationalism are explained along with the need to use the plural term nationalisms in order to point out the many faces of Chinese nationalism. There are presented some typologies of it as presented in bibliography. Furthermore, theoretical concepts such as regime, diffuse and specific support among others, which are used in the present study, are introduced to pave the way for the ensuing chapters.
Moreover, the model that is used in the thesis is put forth in order to underline the key concepts and to support the use of the questionnaire in a meaningful and sufficient way. The dependent, intermediate, and independent variables are presented in order to conceptualize and operationalize them. After that, the data analysis follows, which test the theories suggested for Chinese nationalism.
The results of the data analysis show that in 1993 not many factors of Chinese nationalism affect regime support. It is only the attitude toward China itself and foreign countries that have a statistically significant impact on regime support, therefore a 2x2 typology concerning Chinese nationalism and regime support is introduced.

ERR?, PGC-1, PRC, IFRD1.

Conformity and Digression: Change of Narrative in a Chinese Peasant's Personal WritingWang, Danping 11 July 2017 (has links)
Rural China has gone through dramatic transformation from the Mao era to the post-Mao era. China scholars have been studying the institutional changes closely in the past few decades. However, Chinese peasants’ living experience and their memory and understanding of the past have not yet received enough attention and discussion. By examining personal writings of a peasant named Luo Xuechang in Jiande, Zhejiang province, this paper discusses the complex interactions between the state and the individual. This paper attempts to unfold the juxtaposition of state narratives and personal narratives embedded in Luo’s unpublished memoir, almanacs from 1972 to 1980, notebooks and other personal writings. By focusing on Luo’s writings on his family life, education, work and political perspectives, this paper reveals how Luo altered his personal narratives over time and how Luo carefully conformed with and digressed from state-produced national narratives to make sense of his own history.

Conquering Taiwan by Mind-PRC Taiwan's Psychology of Political CommunicationTsai, Tzung-je 13 August 2007 (has links)
This research systemizes PRC¡¦s Taiwan policy in the perspective of psychology of political communication. First of all, this research is found that there are four features in psychological warfare conducted by PRC after reviewing the Western, ancient Chinese, and Chinese military classics: justice warfare, army controlled by the politics, the people warfare, and influx on strategies.
The basic levels in mutual fight can be analyzed as following: conducting and controlling relationship, civil-martial relationship, state-society relationship, and foreign relationship. The rival may ¡§disturb¡¨ the relationships by three psychological principles of political communication: the attachment principle, the inducement principle, and the coercion principle. After deciding the principle, there are four kinds of ¡§tools¡¨ available; including Taiwan affairs, mass communication, information based psychological warfare, and military threat. Most important, PRC use the tools in a flexible way.
The psychology of political communication in PRC¡¦s Tawian policy is successful by adopting two stable principles: Emancipation/ Unity/ Anti-independency Principle; One China/ One Country Two Systems Principle. The bottom line of principle can be shifting, but never quit.
From the perspective of psychology of political communication, this Taiwan policy can be focused on the source and the content of information, and the effect of receivers. This model can be concluded as ¡§organism¡¨, there are holism, correlation, multilevel, openness, and dynamics in this model.

Imagining Queerness: Sexualities in Underground Films in the Contemporary P. R. ChinaZhao, Jin 01 May 2011 (has links)
In response to the globalizing queerness argument and the cultural specificity argument in queer cultural studies, this thesis examines the emerging modern queer identity and culture in the contemporary People’s Republic of China (PRC) in an intercultural context. Recognizing Chinese queer culture as an unstable, transforming and complex collection of congruent and/or contesting meanings, not only originated in China but also traveling across cultures, this thesis aims to exorcise the reified images of Chinese queers, or tongzhi, to contribute to the understanding of a dynamic construction of Chinese queerness at the turn of a new century, and to lend insight on the complicity of the elements at play in this construction by analyzing the underground films with queer content made in the PRC.
