Wiart, Louis 26 November 2015 (has links)
The emergence of book social networks during the 2000s, linked to the development of social media and technological innovations in the publishing industry, renews the means by which readers access information about books and share it withothers. Goodreads, aNobii, Shelfari, LibraryThing, Babelio, BdGest, Booknode, Critiques Libres, Entrée Livre, Lecteurs, Libfly, Livraddict, Lecture Academy, MyBoox and many other platforms dedicated to book reviews have become key places of literaryprescription. This thesis analyzes the contribution of book social networks to the literary prescription, through an inter‐dimensional approach that allows us to understand the conditions of supply and demand of prescription on Internet. From an empirical point of view, we observed the websites, conducted interviews, distributed a questionnaire and collected traces of use to gather the data needed to conduct the study. Firstly, we identify the logics of sociability and the usage patterns of these digitalservices. Strategies, modes of operation, trajectories of development and business models that characterize the actors involved in this sector are also analyzed. In addition, we study the profiles and uses of people who visit book social networks. Finally, wequestion the effects of these networks on the online visibility of literary works.

Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs: A Policy Review and Recommendations for States

Lee, Christine Sh-Teng 30 January 2015 (has links)
OBJECTIVE: To review existing PDMP statutes, and to provide recommendations for good legislative drafting that will create effective statutory components that will enhance the function and increase the use of PDMPs. METHODS: This policy review was conducted from July 2014 to December 2014, using articles dated January 01, 2004 to July 01, 2014. All PubMed searches were artificially limited to peer reviewed articles that were available as “free full text.” To ensure a comprehensive review of the policies, statutes from all fifty states were surveyed using the legal database, Westlaw Next. The search used terms associated with PDMPs. Each statute was reviewed by title and content to determine applicability to the study. The list of statutes compiled from Westlaw Next was compared with existing publications that survey PDMP statutes. The recommendations are based on the investigator’s experience and training in law and public health in consultation with a legislative expert, and supported by peer reviewed articles and legislative drafting guides. RESULTS: There are twelve main topical components that are addressed in existing state PDMP statutes. The policy brief’s primary three recommendations are to implement an advisory committee with an outlined membership, impose a duty for the committee to routinely review database information and to report on the findings, mandate practitioners to consult the database prior to administering controlled substances, and enact a PDMP educational component for practitioners. Appendix A of this policy review (attached) provides a full list of the recommendations for effective legislation on all twelve topical components.

Fysisk aktivitet på recept – Vad påverkar patientens compliance / Prescription for physical activity – What effects the patient compliance?

Malmberg Jans, Johannes, Björkman, Joel January 2015 (has links)
Background: Exercise on Prescription (EoP) is a new way of treating patients, and is being used today to initiate physical activity among patients with lifestyle related diseases, or patients at risk of such diseases. Today the normal treatment is to use medication, but EoP can be an alternative that minimize the need for traditional medication as well as empower and motivate the patients to change their lifestyle. Healthcare staff must know how to increase patient compliance. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine factors that can affect patient compliance to FaR. Method: The method used was a convergent mixed method, which combines qualitative and quantitative text analysis of 17 articles, 10 of which were quantitative and 7 qualitative.  Results: The data analysis resulted in the conclusion that the patient compliance in relation to EoP was mainly influenced by three themes; social relations and living conditions, the healthcare professionals the patient interact with and their attitude towards EoP, and the patient's physical and mental health. These themes can affect the patient compliance to a either negative or positive outcome. Conclusion: Compliance can be subdivided into three major themes: Socioeconomic status and living conditions, the work done by healthcare staff and their attitude and finally the physical and psychological health of the patients. Clinical significance: FaR is a logical progression on the health-promoting work done by nurses. This work aims to further the knowledge on how nurses in particular, but also other health care professions, can contribute to helping the patient reach the best compliance possible.

Διερεύνηση των κινήτρων και των συνταγολογικών συνηθειών της ιατρικής κοινότητας, όσον αφορά στα γενώσημα [sic] φάρμακα / Investigation of motives and prescription habits of medical community, with regard to in the generic medicines

Πολύδωρος, Κωνσταντίνος 03 October 2011 (has links)
Is it an undeniable fact that in the last decades the manufacture of generic medicinal products marks globally significant progress and development. The vast permeation of generic medicinal products in the health industry is not random at all and is mainly due to the economical and reliable therapeutic solution they offer. In other words, their advantage lies in the fact that they bring equivalent therapeutic results to the reference medicinal products, combined with a reduction of medicinal expenses. This specificity of theirs is determined and secured through the control of their bioequivalence and the expiration time of the letters patent of the reference medicinal products. From all the above and taking into consideration the unfavorable global economic situation and the inflated economic problems which deplore the greek health system and the national insurance organizations, rises the need for a vast acceptance of these particular medicinal products from the greek medical community in its entirety. For this reason, this particular thesis attempts to explore in depth the greek physicians’ beliefs, motives and prescription-writing practices as far as generic medicinal products are concerned – which promise the immediate reduction of medicinal expenses without downgrading the patients’ benefits and quality of living. The findings that emerged from the research which was carried out exclusively within the prefecture of Achaia are significant and are analysed in depth further below. Nevertheless, in general, it is worth mentioning: a) the high rate of responding (75.7%) to the completion of the questionnaire, b) the high rate of doctors’ further education/training which reaches 41.6% c) the doctors’ familiarization with new technologies and the internet which comes to 55.7%, d) the fact that the doctors as a body are prescribing generic medicinal products regardless of their positive or negative views on them, e) that the prime and most fundamental criterion in prescription-writing is the effectiveness of the drug, while economic motives contribute greatly towards this direction, f) that the absence of clinical tests on generic medicinal products is the most significant factor of their lacking in comparison to reference medicinal products, g) that there are secondary factors which can contribute to the increase in prescription of generic medicinal products such as the prestige/brand name of a company, scientific documentation, etc. h) that the physicians’ prescription habits are minorly affected from pharmaceutical representatives and majorly from the brand name and prestige of the pharmaceutical company and i) that in a high rate of 58.5% physicians’ needs and problems are not heard from pharmaceutical executives. This thesis with its particular focuses, attempts to decode greek physicians’ views and possible problems as far as general medicinal products are concerned and to define their attitude towards prescription. A further goal of this attempt is to help the development and tracing of political directions which can be able to improve the economic and clinical image of the much afflicted greek national health system.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Deivid Nogueira Rafael.pdf: 793444 bytes, checksum: 5b5e4d5dc5b6a608b2bf1eb8da2900b8 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-12-08 / Errors involving medications are frequent in health care, causing preventable adverse events of different severities. In this case, prescriptions have great importance in this prevention when elaborated in a readable and complete form. Among the evolutions of the digital era in health care, one of them is the electronic prescription, which is the procedure where the prescriber elaborates the prescription using dedicated software and sends it by electronic means. The objective of this work was to analyze the evolution of the implantation of electronic prescription software in a compounding center, specialized in the preparation of parenteral nutrition. Qualitative exploratory and quantitative descriptive approaches were adopted in a single case study. In the qualitative approach, structured interviews were elaborated, based on theoretical assumptions, applied to the managers and the responsible for Software development. For the evaluation of the data and compilation of the results, a content analysis was used, grouping the questions by similarity and by creating categories. In the quantitative approach, a survey was made about the number of "deviations" in the period from 2006 to 2015, evaluating the impact of the implementation of electronic prescriptions and a comparison with the prescriptions sent by fax and e-mail. The obtained results indicated that the use of electronic prescription software and pharmacist care reduces considerably the number of deviations in prescriptions. The electronic prescription acts as an important tool to help the prescriber to reduce redoing prescriptions as well as possible errors of interpretation when compared to prescriptions sent manually by fax or e-mail.
