Livstillfredställelse och självpresentation inom sociala medier / Life satisfaction and self-presentation on social mediaArameshi, Rojin January 2018 (has links)
Social media is a part of many people’s everyday today, especially to share personal events. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there were differences between groups depending on how active they were on social media and their life-satisfaction and self-presentation. Through a web-based survey, life satisfaction and self-presentation was measured on 101 respondents between the ages of 18 to 38 years old. The study showed that there was a significant difference between those who use Instagram frequently and reduced increased self-presentation. The self-presentation was higher among those who visit Instagram frequently compared to those who do not visit Instagram frequently.

Resultado abrangente: formato de apresentação, maturação e os impactos na decisão de investimento / Comprehensive income: presentation format, maturity and the impacts on investment decisionChecon, Bianca Quirantes 09 October 2013 (has links)
Choosing a accounting information target user, nowadays, the accounting regulator bodies have emphasized to investors. In theory, accounting rules aim to generate information which is useful and relevant at those users\' decision-making process. However, besides the content, the financial statements presentation format may affect the way the users incorporate them into their decision making processes. Considering the investors as limited rational agents, this study has assumed that those agents seek to optimize their choices and consider the costbenefit of information availability, because of their limited processing capacity. At this context, the literature has highlighted that the financial statements presentation format can affect the investment decisions attractiveness, which, consequently, can influence how the entities disclose their financial information. The preference for the financial information presentation format may be intensified when entities direct the format in order to highlight the information that convey a better financial position, according to the argument of stock market short-termism. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the Comprehensive Income (CI) presentation format impact and the Other Comprehensive Income (OCI) maturity at investment decisions at the capital market. To develop the research, an 2 X 2 between subjects experiment design was conducted, with 171 MBA students, and average duration of twenty minutes. For data analysis, this study used the statistical technique of analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), as the dependent variable was quantitative and quantitative and qualitative factors to explain the behavior of that variable were used. The results indicate that the variables for investment at shares and weighted attractiveness investment at shares, the influence of the financial statements presentation format has been only in the multiplicative variable between risk aversion and the fact of the participant works at a financial company, as well as having experience in capital market investment and the fact of the participant works at a financial company. However, as it was not possible to segregate the effect on the dependent variables between them, it was not possible to say that the CI presentation format separately affects the investment attractiveness. In all dependent variables, maturity did not demonstrate to impact the attractiveness of investment. By analyzing the interactive effect between presentation format and the OCI maturity, it was not possible to say whether there was an impact on the investment attractiveness. Based on these results, it was not possible to say that the Comprehensive Income Statement presentation format and the OCI realization to Net Income impact on investment decisions at the capital market. The study has limitations, especially related to the applied technique, the use of students as a proxy for investors, experimental environment variables which were not controlled and misconceptions of what is the Comprehensive Income for the respondents.

The viability of South African museums in the post-1994 landscapeTomose, Nkosinathi G. 21 April 2009 (has links)
Museum studies in South Africa have predominately focused on addressing issues of
politics and practice of museum displays and exhibitions, particularly in the period
following the 1994 South African elections. These studies have led to the transformation
of many past museum displays and exhibits. They have also opened up new research
opportunities within the field of museum studies, such as the current study on social
viability and economic sustainability of South African museums. In this research report I
assess a range of museum operational models in and around Johannesburg and make
recommendations about the best current operational model and on the potential model for
future developments of culture and heritage museums in Johannesburg.
Recommendations on some of the strategies that museums in and around Johannesburg
need to adopt in order to develop further their social responsibility projects are given,
based on my experience of how museums in Washington, D.C raised alternative funds
towards such projects. The Section 21 Company model is seen as the best current
museum operational model and has potential for future museum developments in Johannesburg.

Looking the Part: An Examination of Longitudinal Gender Presentation Among Children with Gay, Lesbian, and Heterosexual Adoptive ParentsBruun, Samuel T. 01 January 2018 (has links)
Gender presentation, appearing in a way that fits social expectations of one’s gender role, represents one of the most obvious ways in which one’s gender identity becomes salient to others. This quality is especially relevant to note given the continued controversy surrounding children’s gender role development when raised by non-heterosexual parents. The current study is an examination of how gender presentation develops in adopted children with lesbian, gay, and heterosexual parents across two time points (Wave 1: N = 106, Mage = 36.07 months; Wave 2: N = 90, Mage = 8.34). Children’s gender presentation was analyzed using a novel coding scheme, consisting of several variables meant to target the presence of gender typed clothing. These elements of appearance were compared with several measures of child outcomes. It was found that children generally adhere to presentation elements of their assigned gender and there were limited differences by parental sexual orientation in any of the gender presentation variables. Additionally, there was no association found between conformity in gender presentation and children’s self-perception or parent or child gender-typical attitudes. The results of this initial study may prove to be useful in ongoing research surrounding children’s gender typicality.

Symmetric Presentations and GenerationGrindstaff, Dustin J 01 June 2015 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to generate original symmetric presentations for finite non-abelian simple groups. We will discuss many permutation progenitors, including but not limited to 2*14 : D28, 2∗9 : 3•(32), 3∗9 : 3•(32), 2∗21 : (7X3) : 2 as well as monomial progenitors, including 7∗5 :m A5, 3∗5 :m S5. We have included their homomorphic images which include the Mathieu group M12, 2•J2, 2XS(4, 5), as well as, many PGL′s, PSL′s and alternating groups. We will give proofs of the isomorphism types of each progenitor, either by hand using double coset enumeration or computer based using MAGMA. We have also constructed Cayley graphs of the following groups, 25 : S5 over 2∗5 : S5, PSL(2, 8) over 2∗7 : D14, M12 over a maximal subgroup, 2XS5. We have developed a lemma using relations to factor permutation progenitors of the form m∗n : N to give an isomorphism of mn : N . Motivated by Robert T. Curtis’ research, we will present a program using MAGMA that, when given a target finite non-abelian simple group, the program will generate possible control groups to write progenitors that will give the given finite non-abelian simple group. Iwasawa’s lemma is also discussed and used to prove PSL(2, 8) and M12 to be simple groups.

Progenitors Involving Simple GroupsAndujo, Nicholas R 01 February 1986 (has links)
I will be going over writing representations of both permutation and monomial progenitors, which include 2^{*4} : D_4, 2^(*7) :L_2 (7) as permutation progenitors, and monomial progenitors 7^(*2) :_m S_3 \times 2, 11^{*2} :_m (5:2)^{*}5, 11^{*3} :_m (25:3), 11^{*4} :_m (4 : 5)^{*}5. Also, the images of these different progenitors at both lower and higher fields and orders. \\ We will also do the double coset enumeration of S5 over D6, S6 over 5 : 4, A_5 x A_5 over (5:2)^{*}5, and go on to also do the double coset enumeration over maximal subgroups for larger constructions. We will also do the construction of sporadic group M22 over maximal subgroup A7, and also J1 with the monomial representation 7^(*2) :_m S_3 \times 2 over maximal subgroup PSL(2,11). We will also look at different extension problems of composition factors of different groups, and determine the isomorphism types of each extension.

Användarcentrerad utvärdering samt utveckling av ett larmsystem för vattenjet-propulsor / User-centred evaluation and development of an alarm system for water jet propulsorHeed, Astrid January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this master thesis is to investigate how alarm systems and their visualizations, as well as signals affect work situations and decision making processes aboard vessels with water jet propulsion. Furthermore, this study aims to identify important aspects of the perception of alarm systems and which aspects that are more or less affected by stress, lack of information as well as audible and visual signals. To investigate this, the theory of Situation Awareness and the theory of Naturalistic Decision Making were used to make an analysis of which aspects that were more or less important for the users. The study found that the alarm system affect users a lot in their daily work. The aspect that was considered particularly important when designing a new alarm system was to have the users' everyday life in mind. Alarm systems that are based on guesses or what one thinks are appropriate for different users rarely turn out to be correct. Therefore, in order to design a correct alarm system, this situation should be taken into consideration. Other aspects that arose were the need to reduce false alarms and ordinary alarms in order to minimize the number of elements that can stress or disturb the users. In addition, audible and visual signals should not interfere more than necessary to call attention from the user. Finally, the thesis come to a conclusion with suggestions for a new alarm system based on the aspects mentioned above.

Variation in the Order of Presentation of Cues as One Variable in Concept OrganizationGenasci, John E. 01 May 1967 (has links)
In the experiment, with forty-eight students as subjects, a serie s of nonsense syllables (DAX, MEF, TOV, VIC, YOP, ZIP, and ZIL) were to be associated with four geometric figures. The task was so arranged that Zip applied to all figures, Dax and Vic to subsets of two figures each, and the remaining were individual labels. In each of three experiments there was an experimental group that received pre-response cueing by means of an analogy which involved hierarchic concepts in the same general form, i. e ., animal, wild, tame, and individual names.
The results suggest that the order and timing of the presentation of the cues were varied in the three separate experiments. Groups that received prior analogy versus groups not given the analogy were more successful in ordering the random stimuli. Further, the order of presentation of the cues had no significant effect on the ability of the subjects to order the random stimuli.

So... this is how you look on Tinder : A quantitative study about how young adults in Sweden self-present themselves on Tinder.Pettersson, Emelie, Lindström, Warat January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to analyze how young adult self-present themselves on Tinder and the relationship between user’s self-presentation and gender to investigate if there are differences. While there are plenty of research connected to self-presentation and online dating, most of them were conducted on English speaking dating sites. Since Tinder is a location-based application, the aim of this study is to investigate how Swedish users self-present themselves on Tinder. This study also focuses on variables that have not had much attention when it comes to dating environment but is related to self-presentation (social interaction, taste, personality trait etc.). This essay is addressing the following questions: 1. How do young adults self-present on the dating app tinder? 2. Are there gender differences in how tinder user self-present themselves? To explore and answer the topic, we use a quantitative content analysis approach to examine the photographs, textual description and connections to third party applications in each individual profile. The sample of this study were Tinder users located near Karlstad, Sweden with a approximate range of 161 km. This study analyzed two hundred individual profiles were whereof one hundred are men and respectively women between the age of 18 - 24 as it is the most active age range according to a study conducted in the US. We analyze the variables gaze, dress, social interaction in the photographs. In the textual description the variables hobbies or interests, professions, taste, height, emojis, partner preference and personality trait were analyzed. In the analysis of the results, there were a significant difference between gaze and dress related to gender in the photographs as expected from previous studies. There was surprisingly no significant difference in how men and women present themselves in the textual description although there are difference between them. The analysis and discussion with a reflection to previous study results shows that there is a gendered self-presentation and that gender stereotypes still exists on Tinder. The results serves as a groundwork for future research regarding self-presentation in online dating environment.

An investigation of how new language is introduced to learners of English in VietnamThao, Tran Xuan, n/a January 1990 (has links)
This study investigated how new language is introduced to learners of English
in Vietnam in terms of textbooks and teachers' presentation.
The data sources for this study were from (1) an analysis of the two types of
English textbooks being used in Vietnam: those written by native speakers of
English and those written by Vietnamese authors, (2) an analysis of class-visit
reports of 176 periods of English classes in Hue, and (3) an analysis of 57
questionnaires answered by two groups of Vietnamese teachers of English:
39 high school teachers and 18 tertiary teachers.
Results from the study indicated that:
-In general, the textbooks of both types fail to introduce the
sociolinguistic aspects of the target language to the learners: the textbooks
written by native speakers of English are very culture-specific. The contexts of
situation in these textbooks in most cases are too implicit for both the teachers
and the learners. The explanation of most cultural aspects in the textbooks is
either not sufficient or not provided. On the other hand, the English cultural
aspects introduced in the textbooks written by Vietnamese authors are biased.
- Although most teachers have indicated their awareness of the
importance of both cultural and linguistic aspects of new language, actual
records of their presentation methods revealed more emphasis on the latter,
that is the linguistic features.
For the teaching of English to the Vietnamese learners, the results of this study
lead to rejection of the idea of presenting new language without reference to
the target culture as well as the idea of presenting new language removed
from the context of situation. The results suggest the need for adaptation and
supplementation of textbooks, and the inclusion of context of situation into the
teacher's presentation of new language.
