Flyktingmottagande i perspektiv. En kvalitativ textanalys av dagstidningars rapportering om flyktingmottagande i Sverige

Silander, Sofia, Sundberg, Marie January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine how daily newspapers in Sweden are reportingabout the reception of refugees. To do this we have done a qualitative textanalysis of different text articles published in Dagens Nyheter, Göteborgs-Postenand Sydsvenskan. We have created three different problem perspectives that willshow how and in what way the daily newspapers are writing about the receptionof refugees in Sweden. We used agenda-setting theory as one of our theoreticalperspectives. The theory states that those issues that media addresses morefrequent to will be those that people tends to think are the most important socialissues. Research shows that media today has gotten more power to sett the agendaand to create (new) social problems. Using agenda-setting theory gives us thelegitimacy to study our material in the way we want to.Our text analysis indicates that the articles are portraying the reception of refugeesas a threat to Sweden the Swedish welfare system and that the reception ofrefugees, are and will become, problematic for Sweden in one or another way.

Problemperspektiv i mediediskurser : Framställningar av personer som begått brott / Problem perspective in media discourses : The production of persons who committed crime

Rivera, Olivia, Dahlberg, Isabelle January 2019 (has links)
The present study has investigated how people who committed crimes are portrayed in media discourses in five articles published in the newspaper Aftonbladet. The purpose of the study is to contribute knowledge about how people who have committed crimes are portrayed in media discourses and try to understand the essay's examples of representations based on a social constructivist approach. Through this, the study wants to increase social workers' awareness of these representations. It is a qualitative study based on Håkan Jönsson's problem perspective and his analysis scheme. This type of method can be compared to discourse analysis. When the study material was processed, a result emerged that we found interesting to analyse based on the theories of stigma and language as a system. The conclusions drawn by the study are that the presentation in media discourses of persons who have committed crimes is partly negative, in four of the five articles. Instead, the fifth article portrays people who have committed crimes as, among other things, wilful. Another conclusion is that these representations can be understood as a part of a possible stigmatizing of people who have committed crimes and that language can have a contributing part in this stigma. In the fifth article that did not portray people who committed a crime in a negative way, we can see an attempt lifting the stigma of the group. These conclusions are then discussed in relation to the current state of knowledge that includes research on the media and its impact on society has evolved over time, how the media and democracy coexist, how people who have committed crimes are treated in the Swedish labour market, and a similar study on the media's presentation of another socially vulnerable group.

Framställningar av tiggare & tiggeri. : En kvalitativ text- och innehållsanalys av debattartiklar i Dagens Nyheters mellan 3 september 2010 och 24 februari 2014. / Depictions of beggars and begging. : A qualitative textual and content analysis of Dagens Nyheter debate articles between September 3rd,2010 and February 24th,2014.

Svensson, Josefina January 2014 (has links)
The aim with this study was to analyze and understand how begging is constructed as a social problem in Sweden between September of 2010 and the end of February in 2014 in debate articles in Dagens Nyheter. To do this I have chosen to use a social problems theory and critical discourse analysis to highlight some aspects in the process of defining the social problem. The study's main finding is that the construction of beggars and begging appears to be in a relatively extensive redefinition in the current situation. It is shown by, for example, a shift in focus in the discourse. For this reason, it is relevant for social work to examine how the construction progresses.
