Relasieterapieteorie : 'n opvoedkundige sielkundige teorie vir diagnose en terapie / The relationship therapy theory : an educational psychological theory for diagnosis and therapy

Pienaar, Emily 11 1900 (has links)
Summaries in Afrikaans and Engish / There is at present a lack of consensus in the Educational Psychological domain to a universal point of departure of a uniform approach for Educational Psychologists. Educational Psychologists have become increasingly aware that the therapy and theories that they use for diagnoses and therapy are not based on educational theories. They frequently fall back on existing psychological schools of thought with the result that very few of the educational theories feature there in. The purpose of this dissertation is therefore: • To devise an accountable educational psychological theory which will lead to the integrating of psychological and educational insights. • To devise diagnostic and research models to create an accountable design in practice. • To utilize the essence of educational psychology educational psychologists for diagnoses and therapy. / Psychology of Education / D.Ed. Comparação entre a Medida de Independência Funcional (MIF), a Classificação Internacional de Funcionalidade, Incapacidade e Saúde (CIF) e a teoria da motivação humana de Maslow na avaliação da pessoa com deficiência / Comparison between Functional Independence Measure (FIM), International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and Maslow\'s theory of human motivation in the evaluation of people with disability

Vitor Eduardo Politzer Telles 11 December 2015 (has links)
The concept of disability is characterized by limitations on activities and restrictions on participation in society of people under contextual influences. Thus it comprises a dynamic interaction between disability itself, functionality and contextual factors, causing impact on quality of life in different levels, which in turn can lead to different perceptions of human needs to be met. Among the instruments used to assess the degree of incapacity of the person we can mention the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). In turn, the theory of Maslow\'s human motivation is widely known for trying to explain human needs according to a hierarchical model. The aim of this dissertation is to identify whether human needs, as explained by Maslow\'s theory, of people with disability are been properly evaluated by the commonly used measure instruments like FIM and ICF. A review of literature was performed and the Ground Theory Method was then applied to compare FIM, ICF and Maslow\'s theory of human motivation. As results, the vast majority of FIM domains correspond to the ability to execute activities demanded by physiological, safety and some aspects of belongingness and love needs but none of them can be correlated to the fields of esteem and self-actualization. On the other hand, the ICF provides specific elements for all the domains but self-actualization, where the elements are more subjective and variable. So, we can conclude that the ICF can evaluate in a better way whether the human needs of people with disability are been fulfilled and thus can be used for monitoring the evolution necessary to meet specific needs of people with disability

Delage, Gabriel 06 1900 (has links)
Sport-related concussion (SRC) education is one strategy that has been used to make ice hockey safer, and coaches have been seen as key members of the sport environment who influence athlete safety. Unfortunately, providing coaches with knowledge has not been associated with changing SRC management behaviors. The objective of this study was to use the Behaviour Change Wheel (BCW) to develop theory-driven vignettes based on ice hockey coaches experiences with SRC. Twelve youth ice hockey coaches (n = 2 females, n = 10 males) of AA and AAA teams across Canada talked about their experiences dealing with their athletes SRCs through semi-structured interviews (M = 69.25 minutes). The data were analyzed as part of a two phase process. First, we conducted a directed content analysis using three themes directly derived from the BCW (i.e., capability, opportunity and motivation). Second, we followed recommendations for creative non-fiction writing, leading to the creation of two vignettes. Coach Jodie’s vignette depicts an experienced coach in a complex SRC situation, whereby they made the decision to sit out a star athlete suspected of concussion against the wishes of other players’ parents. Coach Ollie’s vignette depicts a volunteer who is new to coaching ice hockey. In reflecting back on their first season as a coach, Ollie shudders at the way they managed one athlete’s concussion and describes how they wish they would have handled that situation. Taken together, these two vignettes are a new dissemination strategy for SRC education. Results of the present study suggest a need to translate information on SRCs in a more efficient manner through the use of more captivating methods, such as theory based vignettes, to facilitate the education of ice hockey coaches on SRCs.

Embodied ideas and divided selves: revisiting Laing via Bakhtin

Burkitt, Ian, Sullivan, Paul W. January 2009 (has links)
In this article, we apply Mikhail Bakhtin's model of a 'divided self' to R.D. Laing's eponymous work on the lived experience of divided selves in 'psychosis'. Both of these authors offer intriguing insights into the fracturing of self through its social relationships (including the 'micro-dialogues' staged for oneself) but from uniquely different perspectives. Bakhtin (1984) uses Dostoevsky's novels as his material for a theory of self, centrally concerned with moments of split identity, crisis, and personal transformation, while Laing relies on his patient's accounts of 'psychosis'. We will outline how two key Bakhtinian divisions of the self (spirit/soul and authoritative/internally persuasive discourse) help to make sense of Laing's descriptions of his patient's experiences and micro-dialogues. Conversely, when refracted through Laing's phenomenology Bakhtin's account of the self becomes richer and somewhat darkened in terms of a double-edged ontology, which describes a maximally open self but one that is consumed by ideas, unable to manage their contradictions. The implications of this for managing the dilemmas of self-identity will be drawn out.
