Man as god's puppet: a reading of platonic Laws

Gonzaga, Solange Maria Norjosa 12 June 2006 (has links)
Orientador: Francisco Benjamin de Souza Netto / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciencias Humanas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-08T04:42:03Z (GMT). This research shows that Plato, in the Laws dialogue, enables the operation of political art through the care for the soul in its nature and disposition (I, 650b). A reflection on the disposition of the soul occurs by means of the puppet myth, in which Plato describes the war inside man, showing how to deal with the tension between vice and virtue caused by pleasure and pain; and postulates axioms determining the nature of love relations and the care we must have with the soul's affections. Plato elaborates in Laws a Constitution stemming from three questions: the symposium, the sissitia for women and procreation, which provides the institution of a new ethos which will turn the citizen of the Cretian polis into a puppet to the service of the divinities (I, 645b). Thus, in our thesis, we reflect, in the scope of platonic philosophy, on the triple relation of man, the divinity and the law, while there is the possibility of realizing the political art / Doutorado / Doutor em Filosofia

Cabrera Balbuena, Iria Elena 25 March 2022 (has links)
[EN] This thesis studies the Czech School according to its political, social and cultural context in the field of stop-motion animation, setting a proper analysis of its language, origin and characteristics as the main objective, and also to understand their influence on foreign creators. With a prolific creation, partly possible due to state support, the Czechs developed a highly artistically charged authorial work, a direct bearer of their history and folk traditions, functioning as a whole as a defining feature of Czech culture. This research is the result of the study of a variant of animation in relation to its context, on the basis of a qualitative and quantitative methodology, sometimes resorting to direct sources. For this purpose, it will be divided into three sections, starting with the establishment of the origins of stop motion animation in general, followed by an approach to the characteristics of the Czech Stop Motion School, and ending with a presentation of the work of foreign creators influenced by Czech filmmakers. Through our results, we found that we can define a specific Czech School for creation in the field of stop motion animation. / Cabrera Balbuena, IE. (2022). Isobel Gloag and The Woman with the Puppets : A Feminist Reading / Isobel Gloag and The Woman with the Puppets : A Feminist Reading

Doyle, Cecilia January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to investigate The Woman with the Puppets by Isobel Gloag from a feminist perspective, to find how it challenge the male gaze and patriarchy. I also seek to understand how other female artists past and present compare to Gloag’s painting. The method is Panofsky’s iconology with modifications through Aavitsland’s thoughts of the grammatical structure that the composition holds. To reach social bearings upon the ability to generate this type of historical genre painting Bourdieu’s toolbox of capital, habitus and strategies has been applied. The painting is a feminist expression of the feminist discussions regarding marriage, equality and law that took place at the time of the paintings creation. Through the use of established norm with an ambiguity, female nude and male marionette puppets, the male gaze and patriarchy is challenged. Gloag is the only female artist of her time that has generated a history genre painting in a feminist spirit that challenges multitude of issues in one composition.

Využití loutek v mateřské škole / Usage of puppets in nursery school

Velíšková, Andrea January 2011 (has links)
The usage of puppets in nursery school In its theoretical part, my diploma thesis presents the preschool-age children's game and focuses on its object and the perception of the puppet as a toy. It approaches the theory and function of the puppet from its educational point of view. Further, it points to various methods of their usage and to the relation between the teacher and a puppet. In the conclusion, it includes some suggestions to make simple puppets. Next part of this work results from the research on the relation between children and puppets within the educational process in nursery school. It approximates children's displays towards the puppet and their ability to distinguish between the puppet and the teacher. Further, it is supplemented with the research on different methods of using the puppets and the experience within the pedagogues' practice. Key words: Marionette theatre, puppets, a preschool-age child, nursery school, the education of a preschool-age child, game, the object of the game
