Muñoz Jara, Daisy January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine the differences and similarities regarding verbal politeness in greetings and requests in Swedish and the Chilean variety of Spanish. A survey with 12 questions, both open-ended and closed-ended, has been distributed to 20 native speakers of the two languages. Thus, the questions have been analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that the perception that the Swedes and the Chileans have about verbal politeness is similar, since the speakers of both languages see it as a way to show respect towards others. The study also shows that Swedes and Chileans share a similar view upon politeness, i.e. as a social norm that facilitates social interaction between people.

Apports de la psychothérapie à médiation multi-modale en réhabilitation psychiatrique : expérience sonore, émotions et cognitions / Contributions of a multi-modal arts psychotherapy within neuro-psychiatric rehabilitation : sound experience, emotions and cognitions

Scholer, Myriam 16 December 2014 (has links)
Our research theme relates to the evolution of psychiatric patients on the psychological dimensions of creativity, emotions and cognitions during music psychotherapy within a long-term care psychiatric hospital. The research objectives, carried out via a mixed quantitative and qualitative methodology, focus the subject of sound influence on the human body, so as the developement of the therapeutic relationship and latent processes during therapy sessions. Six scientifical studies (articles) are going to compose the content of this thesis : Study 1 : Revealing the creative process in music psychotherapy. Study 2 : The development of observational frames in the arts psychotherapies. Study 3 : The patient’s evolution on the psychological dimension of emotions.Study 4 : The cognitive dimension : Attention and mnestic capacities during the therapeutic process.Study 5 : Structural studies to resume group music psychotherapy intervention. Study 6 : The therapeutic group as a research object in long-term psychiatric care. The results of the studies tend to confirm the existence of a favourable sound impact on psychological dimensions, by taking into account significant differences between the clinical sets of psychotics (schizophrenia) and alcoholo-dependent patients. Finally, reflections on the implementation of specialized psychotherapeutic intervention programmes, adapted to initial diagnosis and patient’s demands, are presented

MAPPING THE ECOLOGICAL INTERVIEW: GEOGRAPHIC VISUALIZATION FOR EXPLORING QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE ACTIVITY SPACE DATA

Cao, Yinghui January 2010 (has links)
There is ever greater recognition in the social and health sciences that neighborhood context should be incorporated in studying human behavior. In terms of analyzing urban human behavior, activity space data (i.e. data associated with an individual's home and routine activity locations) can offer diverse information. However, it is challenging to explore and interpret activity space data, which often involve qualitative and quantitative variables describing both the environment and people's travel-activities. This paper will present a prototype software environment to visualize qualitative and quantitative urban activity space data. A system is developed to visualize the data generated by the Ecological Interview, a method for collecting activity space data, social network data, and perception of place data. This application integrates data on adolescents' travel behaviors, as well as their individual, social and community resources, by mapping subjects' activity spaces using multiple visual attributes (e.g. symbolization, color). Users can investigate the activity space data through an interactive interface developed using a commercial GIS software package. The case studies show how the visualization assists in the exploratory studies of activity space data. The visualization can also be used in post-modeling analysis through in-depth investigation of the multiple attributes for the best-fit and worst-fit cases. / Geography

Srovnání vybraných herních výkonů hráčů elitní výkonnosti / Comparison of chosen indicators at players of elite performance

Kulatka, Ondřej January 2011 (has links)
Title: Comparison of selected variables of the game performance in football. Work objectives: The main objectives of this dissertation is primarily a mutual comparison of two consecutive years of UEFA Champions League 2007/ 2008 and 2008/ 2009, where the greatest effort is to identify new and effective trends in training and scoring offensive action from the "open play", due to the ever improving defense systems and outline new methodological and didactic practices in the training process, which could help the current needs of modern football. Methods: Research is carried out by indirect observation using a video records with all the scored goals that were scored in the Champions League in 2008 / 2009. After an accurate record of all the goals, all goals are evaluated and compared with the previous year. All goals are analyzed from two perspectives, in terms of quantity and quality. The former analysis follows the form of attacks, shooting technique, shooting method, the most common areas of shooting or shooting success due to the game time. Based on these quantitative data are then created interesting graphical illustrations. Qualitative analysis focuses on the breakdown of individual model offensive situations in terms gradual developing of attack and fast counter attack. Results: The results...

Le Moan, Natacha 26 September 2007 (has links) (PDF)

Being Proactive to Increasing Supply Chain Security Challenges: A Quantitative and Qualitative Approach

Lu, Guanyi 16 December 2013 (has links)
Supply chain security has become relevant to both practitioners and academics for years, yet the understanding of this topic is still incomplete. The literature produces relatively few explanatory and confirmatory studies, offers ambiguous definitions and terminology and the theoretical development is inconsistent. In this dissertation, I review relevant research streams and employ four in-depth case studies to conceptualize supply chain security (SCS). I also utilize the principles of human immunology to propose a taxonomy of supply chain security management (SCSM) mechanisms. Building on institutional theory and the taxonomy, I further examine the antecedents as well as the consequences of SCSM mechanisms via a large empirical data set collected during 2011-2013. The sample includes responses from 462 firms. Specifically, in my first model I draw on the institutional theory and posit that five institutional isomorphism pressures (i.e., government, customer, peer, normative, and performance pressure) impact four classes of SCSM mechanisms (i.e., prevention, detection, reaction, and restoration). In addition, shared SCS perception (SSP) and top management commitment (TMC) are hypothesized to moderate (strengthen) the relationships between institutional pressures and SCSM mechanisms. In my second model, I propose that the four classes of mechanisms explain five different supply chain performance dimensions (i.e., security performance, cost performance, supply chain responsiveness, supply chain resilience, and supply chain visibility). I also specify differential effects for both models; some effects are more salient than others. The results suggest that not all institutional pressures motivate the implementation of SCSM mechanisms. While normative pressure and performance pressure act as predominantly powerful predictors of SCSM mechanisms, other pressures appear to have negligible or even adverse effects. Surprisingly, data analysis suggests that coercive institutional pressures (i.e., government pressure and customer pressure) do not exhibit the strongest effects on SCSM mechanisms as the literature would suggest. As far as the moderation effect is concerned, the results illustrate that neither SSP nor TMC interact with all institutional pressures to affect the employment of SCSM mechanisms. In addition, TMC can even impede the implementation of reaction- and restoration-oriented SCSM mechanisms when interacting with government pressure. Regarding supply chain performance, the results demonstrate that SCSM mechanisms have strong effects on multiple supply chain performance measures. Further assessments reveal that the effect of SCSM mechanisms on supply chain security performance is stronger than its effects on other performance dimensions.
