The 21st century has posed challenges and provided opportunities for organisations, and although a large body of research exists on both leadership and organisational climate, these two concepts have become a matter of urgency in South African organisations. The dynamics in the organisation have a direct effect on the people the organisation serves and business performance.
The aim of this research was to explore the relationship between leadership and organisational climate in a South African fast-moving consumable goods (FMCG) organisation. There are few research studies that focus on leadership and organisational climate in the South African context and this study builds on limited existing knowledge. Using a descriptive, cross-sectional field survey approach, a sample of 896 participants employed at one organisation was surveyed. Explanatory factor analysis and the structural equation modelling (SEM) multivariate analysis technique revealed a new set of organisational dimensions and confirmed the relationship between leadership and organisational climate and organisational climate and its various dimensions.
The findings emphasise the importance of certain generic and specific leadership practices in creating the desired organisational climate in the South African context. This is a quantitative research study which analyzes the Swedish authority of public health, Folkhälsomyndigheten, and how they communicated nationally throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. The study accomplishes this by focusing on the authority's primary source of outreach, their Facebook page. By analyzing all of their 171 Facebook posts made during the pandemic the posts could then be categorized into animated video, video about the vaccine, link to website, video including an expert, image including a question, the vaccine podcast, commercial short films, residual posts and additional variables. The study then further inspects these posts and manages through its theoretical framework to come to the conclusion that the Swedish authority of public health communicated through several principles externally during the Covid-19 pandemic, four to be exact. They communicated through principles putting the public first, alluding to recognition, effectiveness and organization, and to some capacity regarding the vaccine, principles connected to marketing.

Creating a sense of normality : A quantitative study examining how a digital collaborative tool impacts students’ experiences in online synchronous group discussionsJohansson, Agnes, Voronenko, Aleksandra January 2021 (has links)
Purpose – The unexpected yet drastic influence of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a rapid transition of education to be conducted in digital environments. Replacing face-to-face classrooms with synchronous online learning requires a number of appropriate adjustments which were heavily restricted by the urgency of this global change taking place. With theobserved issues of student participation and involvement in online learning, the purpose ofthis research was to investigate the potential that digital collaborative tools have and if theycan improve the quality of online group discussions among students aged 12 to 16 years old. Method – This study employs a quantitative data collection approach and makes use of the Community of Inquiry framework. A close-ended questionnaire based on the Community of Inquiry survey tool was used to collect students’ impressions and attitudes after they hadparticipated in the experimental study. The experiment consisted of control and experimental groups that partook in online group discussions as part of a regularly scheduled lesson. Findings – Digital collaborative tools were found to change the way in which students experience online group discussions. The attained rates of the Community of Inquiry were overall higher among students in the experimental group. Our findings tested to be statistically significant together with the effect size falling between medium to large extent. This further supports the notion that digital collaborative tools bring in a positive difference into online group discussions and have a potential to increase the quality of online learning when implemented carefully and thoughtfully. Implications – This study emphasizes the importance of developing a clear strategy of how to implement suitable digital collaborative tools into online learning in the most optimal manner that would increase the quality of online learning. This paper can be considered as a startingpoint for future research that could construct further knowledge within the field and extend our findings by investigating other aspects that have an influence on and can have beneficial effects for younger students in online education.

The topic of the diploma thesis The role of advertising in the life of pensioners dedicates to czech pensioners and deals with an individual aspects of their relationship with advertising. The first part of the diploma thesis deals with the theoretical concent, which desribes the audience from the general perspective, history, new media and selected researches. The next chapter focuses on the pensioners themselves. I try here to define the basic concepts that are associated with them in terms of sociology and lifestyle of this older generation. The space is also devoted to the consumer beviour of pensioners, which is influenced by certain aspects of their lives. Stigmatization of people with mental illness has negative impact on quality of their life. There are few Czech studies focusing on stigma, but they rather focus only on one element of the problem. Aim of this thesis is to identify level of stigma in the Czech Republic and its socio- demographic predictors. This knowledge will help when choosing target groups for stigma reducing campaign. Thesis focuses on three elements of stigma - problems in knowledge, attitudes and behaviour. Four datasets are used - one from survey conducted within this theses, one from CVVM and two from INRES, which were conducted for NUDZ. Standardised research tools were used to measure knowledge (MAKS scale), attitudes (CAMI scale), behaviour (RIBS scale) and social distance. Predictors were identified using multivariate linear regression analysis. When comparing level of stigma among three elements, behaviour has the highest level and knowledge has the lowest level. Higher level of stigma in knowledge and attitudes is associated with being a male, lower education level and smaller size of residence. Higher level of stigma in behaviour is related to higher age, region and previous contact with person with mental illness. Embryology in medical education: a mixed methods study and phenomenology of faculty and first year medical studentsCassidy, Keely Marie 14 December 2015 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / The anatomical sciences are experiencing a notable decrease in the time and resources devoted to embryology in North American medical education. With more changes assured, it is necessary to investigate the current trends in curriculum, pedagogy, and related experiences of embryology teachers and learners. To address these concerns, the researcher developed two online mixed methods surveys: one for current anatomy and embryology faculty and another for first year medical students. The faculty survey was followed by interviews with volunteers from that cohort. The researcher used a grounded theory methodology to analyze the qualitative components of the surveys, and descriptive statistics to analyze the quantitative components of the surveys. Both the faculty and student surveys illuminated the vast differences between the explicit, implicit, and null curricular components found in the numerous medical education programs represented. A combined grounded theory methodology and phenomenological approach was used to analyze the interviews with faculty. This generated a lived experience narrative of the phenomenon of teaching embryological content to medical students in the modern world, which led to a better understanding of the needs and challenges that face this subject matter and those who teach it. In this fluid era of medical education reform and integration, the perceptions and experiences of anatomy and embryology faculty and first year medical students are invaluable to assessing the curriculum and pedagogy of this foundational anatomical science and formulating evidence-based recommendations for the future.

Experience and participation implications of daily enhancement meaningful activity in persons with mild cognitive impairmentEllis, Jennifer L. 01 April 2016 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Background: Persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment (PwMCI) battle progressive disengagement from personally meaningful activities that results in functional decline. Little is known about PwMCI experience of engaging in meaningful activities and relationships among MCI stage, confidence, depressive symptoms, and function. Daily Engagement of Meaningful Activity (DEMA) is a multicomponent, family-focused, tailored intervention designed to benefit PwMCI and their caregivers by facilitating goal identification, preserve engagement, and support adjustments to cognitive and functional changes.
Objectives: The aims of this secondary analysis were to: (i) describe PwMCI experience of engagement in DEMA, (ii) evaluate for potential relationship among MCI stage, confidence, depressive symptoms, activity type, activity performance, physical function and (iii) evaluate ability of select outcomes to predict change in depressive symptoms and physical function, (iv) determine difference between participants when sub-grouped by ICF level.
Methods: Mixed methodology was used to conduct a secondary analysis from the parent study. The parent study used a two-group randomized trial involving PwMCI and informal caregivers participating in the Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center DEMA program. Quantitative analysis (dyads: DEMA N=20, Information Support N = 20) examined outcomes at baseline, posttest and follow-up. Analysis employed: (i) Colaizzi's Method of empirical phenomenology to describe PwMCI experience of engagement in activity intervention related to perceptions of changes in confidence, activity performance, and physical function; (ii) Pearson's and Spearman's correlation to ascertain relationship; (iii) Linear regression to model the relationship between explanatory and dependent variables; (iv) Independent t-test to determine significant difference in activities and physical function.
Results: Qualitative themes confirm improved awareness, adjustment, problem-solving, confidence and optimized function. Significant correlations were found at baseline and posttest for MCI stage, depressive symptoms, activity type and physical function. At posttest, change in self-rated performance predicted change in depressive symptoms. Additionally, those who engaged in activity at the ICF level of participation demonstrated a significant increase in confidence and physical function.
Conclusion: Qualitative themes and quantitative results clearly indicate the positive impact of DEMA. Future research should employ a larger, randomized controlled longitudinal trial to ascertain DEMA impact on physical function, reduction of participation restriction and improved QOL.

Considering the fact that internet is minimally regulated in this aspect, the tempting vision of earning money or gaining more followers may often lead to disinformation in social media posts. It is not unusual to come across lifestyle and diet advice which may be unsuitable for every user, or even be dangerous to their health. Even then, these information are sometimes celebrated and shared further amongst users. This Masters Thesis focuses on how social media affect their users regarding forming and shaping their diet from the point of view of the users. A notable accomplishment in their journey has been the development of Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformers (ChatGPT). This study aims to identify and explore the factors influencing students' acceptance and use of ChatGPT in academic settings. Despite the rising prominence of ChatGPT across various disciplines, understanding its acceptance and utilization, particularly within the sphere of higher education, remains limited. ChatGPT holds immense potential as a valuable asset for both students and educators. Utilizing the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and a quantitative research approach, investigating these factors. The results suggest that student acceptance and use lies in Behavioral Intention, while Behavioral Initiation is influenced by both Effort Expectancy and Performance Expectancy.
