Úprava asynchronního motoru pro synchronní chod / Induction motor modification for synchronous operation

Pochyla, Martin January 2009 (has links)
This paper is focused on customization of induction machine type STM71-4L. The need of optimal mechanical design is presented, to achieve sufficient synchronizing reluctant torque, which will result in rotor synchronization with stator magnetic field. Final mechanical design is suggested after research, which considers influence of the essential rotor dimensions on resulting electromechanical torque. This is provided with usage of finite element method calculation. As a result of the thesis the combination of two basic machines – induction machine and synchronous motor is presented. The measurement on induction motor, and it´s modified versions is presented in following chapters. In the last chapter the results of optimization and measurement are discussed and compared.

An Analysis Of Improving Student Performance Through The Use Of Registered Therapy Dogs Serving As Motivators For Reluctant Read

Paradise, Julie 01 January 2007 (has links)
This investigation studied the impact of registered therapy dogs assigned to students in order to improve reading skills. The purpose of this study was to determine if children assigned to registered therapy dogs improve significantly in reading achievement and related school performance such as attendance and discipline when compared to students of similar characteristics not assigned to registered therapy dogs. Specifically, the study used data to ascertain whether students assigned to registered therapy dogs improved their reading skills and if these students demonstrated more or less growth than students of similar characteristics not assigned to registered therapy dogs. This study analyzed data from the Canine Assisted Reading Education (C.A.R.E. to Read) program, data collected from the teacher responses to the C.A.R.E. to Read Teacher Questionnaire, and data provided by Brevard Public School District. Repeated measures analyses and descriptive statistics clearly revealed that students assigned to registered therapy dogs demonstrated more reading growth than their peers who were not assigned to registered therapy dogs. Additionally, students assigned to the registered therapy dogs had a more positive attitude toward schoolwork, were more willing to participate in classroom activities, were more successful with higher level thinking skills, and were more self-confident after being assigned to the registered therapy dogs. Recommendations were made to address teacher training concerning classroom environment, higher level thinking skills, and identifying hesitant and resistant learners. Recommendations also were made for additional research on other uses for registered therapy dogs in the educational setting.

Reluctant readers and game literature : An intertextual analysis of World of Warcraft: Chronicle I

Söderberg, Hampus January 2019 (has links)
World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft: Chronicle I are in this essay analyzed as motivators for reluctant readers. World of Warcraft: Chronicle I is analyzed from small-scale and large-scale intertextual comparison to Greek and Norse mythology. The aim of this essay is to introduce alternative literature outside the literary canon in the EFL classroom in Sweden. The aim is to connect gaming an outside school activity with reading. The analysis is divided into three parts, the first part focuses on the amount of reading that is done while playing a game like World of Warcraft. The second part focuses on intertextuality in the Chronicle to Greek and Norse mythology. Lastly, how the knowledge of intertextuality in the Chronicle can be used to interact with likeminded people by posting on forums in discussed. The goal is to connect gaming and reading to motivate reluctant readers.

Fornitura dei servizi pubblici locali e capitalismo municipale / Local public services provision and municipal capitalism

BOGGIO, MARGHERITA 13 March 2012 (has links)
After a few considerations on the phenomenon of municipal capitalism, a trait which characterizes many local governments in Italy and Europe, the first chapter of the dissertation presents a selective survey of some important topics in regulation. The most relevant contributions on privatization, political connections and accountability are included, together with lessons on decentralization, to show how these elements can be applied in unison to deal with the issues presented in this paper. The phenomenon of municipal capitalism has been subject to many studies, but none has tried to model what this could imply for the choice of the optimal regulatory rule, nor for the vertical allocation of regulatory tasks among the various levels of government. In the second chapter a theoretical model is built. It first considers the case in which a benevolent regulator -at the central or local level- chooses the cost reimbursement rule. Then, the model is expanded in order to analyze the effects that a partisan planner has on regulation. The third chapter tries to answer to a couple of empirical questions. Which are the determinants of the choice of ownership structure for a firm providing local public services? What are the consequences of this choice on the performance of these firms? To answer these questions a unique database providing economic and financial data on 321 Italian firms born in the 2000-2008 period has been used. These data are merged with economic, political, financial and territorial data on the first municipality (for the number of shares owned) participating them. To perform the analysis and control for endogeneity, a two-stage multinomial selection model is employed, in order to identify the causal effects in the case of more than two treatments. The empirical evidence indicates that the municipality political orientation and budgetary conditions matter in the choice of ownership structure. Moreover, while for operating efficiency the computed Average Treatment Effects seem to indicate mixed ownership as a good solution, the canonical performance and employment indicators provide evidence in the opposite direction.

“Excuse me, sir, but may I be of assistance? Ah, I see I have alarmed you. Do not be frightened by my beard: I am a lover of America” : Highlighting bias in The Reluctant Fundamentalist with Positioning Theory, for the purpose of teaching students to critically assess narratives

Bergström, Linus January 2020 (has links)
This paper sets out to analyze The Reluctant Fundamentalist by a narratological application of positioning theory with the aim of highlighting the bias of the main character. The paper argues that using said novel in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom in conjunction with positioning theory could result in an improved understanding of how language is used in different situations for different purposes, which in turn can teach students to critically assess narratives in any medium. This paper also suggests that The Reluctant Fundamentalist could be a beneficial novel to use with the aim of providing students with ethical knowledge and awareness. The findings show that there are several acts of positioning from the main character where his bias against Americans is evident. These instances often consist of the main character contrasting himself and his behavior with Americans where differences of ethical values are expressed. The paper argues that his bias was formed because of an identity crisis, which was constituted of a multitude of factors. Furthermore, the pedagogical implications section suggests some benefits of working with positioning theory and the novel in the EFL classroom, in addition it also discusses some problematic aspects that could be important to be aware of when working with said novel.

Dimensionnements et comparaisons de convertisseurs électromécaniques à bas coût et à grande disponibilité pour véhicules électriques / Designs and comparisons of different electrical converters without magnets for the application of electrical vehicles

Liu, Chao 06 July 2016 (has links)
Today, the concerns of the energy crisis and the reduction of gas emissions stimulate the research in several electric vehicle domains. As the cost of rare earth magnetic materials has increased significantly in recent years, electrical motors without permanent magnets draw more attention, such as induction motors, wound-synchronous motors, switched reluctance motors, and synchronous reluctant motors. In this thesis, induction and synchronous reluctant machines are chosen to be studied for the electric vehicle traction application since they are low costly and fed up with similar power electronics and control strategies.Nonlinear analytical models of induction and synchronous reluctant machines are established and validated. Besides, economical and mechanical models are developed as well. Based on established analytical models, the geometry and the control parameters of these studied machines are calculated to define the total energy losses during the driving cycle. A bi-objective optimization is carried out to minimize total energy losses and motor costs. At last, the optimized machines are compared from their electric, energetic and economic performances, with the help of the Pareto Fronts obtained.
