Uçar, Mehmet Yiğitcan January 2017 (has links)
in English The idea of gated communities was coined in the USA in 1970s and was a result of the post-modern period and suburbanization. During modernization, cities had gone through social, cultural, political, and economical revisions. Consequently, business and residential areas in the city continued to evolve and create new forms. Following this period gated communities offered new understanding of life, security, relations, and status. Subsequently, the phenomenon has rapidly spread all around the world after the 1980s. Istanbul was introduced to the idea of gated communities in 1980s as a result of globalization by following a new vision of a Global City. Being the historical, cultural, and economic center of Turkey, Istanbul holds a great value in terms of social and economical investments. Following the international neoliberal economic trends, Istanbul has attracted many investors and a large labor force. Consequently, the rising demand of housing and business areas invigorated the real estate market in Istanbul, and gated communities were seen as a modern way of housing. As a result, a variety of gated communities were built in Istanbul to meet this new demand. In this research, the social and cultural reasons for livıng in the gated communities and their impacts towards to its residents...

The second phase aims to find out what led the communication partners to choose Klidná as a new place of residence, how important role did the specific aspects based on cohousing played in the decision-making process and finally how are the ideas of this concept being fulfilled in everyday life of the inhabitants. The research is of a qualitative nature and the main method of data collection is realization of deep semi-structured interviews, which are subsequently evaluated on the basis of theoretical thematic analysis. Based on the study, none of the communication partners chose Klidná because of the concept of cohousing. They perceived the existence of common areas, small scale of the project or its spatial layout rather as a pleasant bonus. Město Pardubice a rozvoj příměstských obcí / City of Pardubice and the development of suburban communities

Hyláková, Aneta January 2007 (has links)
In my thesis I would like to concentrate on suburban zones of Pardubice and their relation to resident centre. The town of Pardubice, where I live, contains a positive attitude towards expansion of housing development and expandation of suburban zones. The objective of my work is the investigation of this sphere from several points. I would concentrate on inland and abroad investors, who situate their business subjects into these zones. Also I would study flowing of inhabitants structure, migration trends and their relation to resident centre. Main influence on territory expansion plays Army airport (it turns into civil airport), presence of railway speed corridor and completion of speedway D11 from Hradec Králové to Prague. Policy of territorial development talks about building up river port on the river Elbe in Pardubice. Not least I would solve an influence of territorial enlarging of the town on original municipalitites and effects which this activity brings. The main direction of my work will be focusing on suburban zones, their positive and negative consequences for the town of Pardubice.
